FAQ

  • What is a Bureaucrat?
    • A Bureaucrat (sometimes called a crat) is a user with the special ability to promote and demote users to and from administrative roles (i.e. Bureaucrat and System Operator) on Urban Dead Wiki.
    • Like other administrative roles on the wiki, Bureaucrats do not have any control over the game or its operation. Their responsibilities are strictly related to the wiki.
  • Who gets to be a Bureaucrat?
    • System Operators (usually called sysops) who are elected by the community can become Bureaucrats. For more information on how to become a sysop, read the Promotions page.
    • The wiki maintains two Bureaucrats at all times, with elections occurring every six months or in response to the demotion of a sitting Bureaucrat.
    • A sitting Bureaucrat can run for re-election, provided they meet all eligibility requirements (e.g. they're not inactive), with no limits on how many terms they can serve.
  • Who can vote?
    • All wiki users are allowed to vote. Users are eligible for one vote per seat that is up for election.
    • Sysops running in the election are allowed to vote for themselves.

Rules

Rules concerning the election.
  1. An election is started immediately upon the resignation or demotion of a sitting Bureaucrat.
  2. Both Bureaucrat seats are up for election every six months, on June 1st and December 1st.
  3. The election ends after two weeks, counting from the when the election is started.
  4. The candidates with the most and second-most votes win the election.
  5. In the event of a tied vote the currently sitting bureaucrats will decide between the tied candidates.
Rules concerning candidates.
  1. All active users with the sysops status are automatically declared candidates for any vacant Bureaucrat positions.
    • Users who are not eligible for automatic demotion by the Truly Inactive Sysops policy are considered "active" for purposes of the election.
  2. The Bureaucrats whose positions come up for election if said election is started under rule 2 of Rules concerning the election are automatically declared candidates.
    • Unless said otherwise, a Bureaucrat who is demoted due to inactivity is not eligible in the ensuing election to fill their seat.
  3. A candidate can retract their own candidacy at any time.
Rules concerning voting.
  1. All users have only one vote per Bureaucrat position to be filled.
    • This means that, in regular elections started under rule 2 of Rules concerning the election, each user has two votes. In unscheduled elections started under rule 1, each user has only one vote.
  2. Users vote for a candidate by signing under the preferred candidate's name.
    • Users cannot cast more than one vote per candidate.
  3. Users may change their votes for a candidate as long as the election has not ended.
    • Multiple votes at the same time will be struck.
  4. Sockpuppetry is considered vandalism.

Ineligible Sysops

Withdrawn Sysops

Aichon

My thanks to Bob and anyone else who might have been considering a vote for me, but I'll continue my streak of withdrawing. It's been almost five years since the last time I ran for 'crat, and while I do periodically reconsider my little tradition, I'm now at the point where I've been inactive in-game for awhile and am planning to wind down my wiki activity, so I don't feel that it would be right for me to have the buttons to steer the wiki. Aichon 15:21, 1 June 2017 (UTC)

Vouch.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 14:09, 2 June 2017 (UTC) Ineligable vote struck. Only two votes per crat election. --Rosslessness ; the shambling custodian of UD's past... 16:45, 2 June 2017 (UTC)

  4. Vouch. The policy mentions only votes for candidates. Either you've withdrawn and I can vote as many times as I want, or you're a candidate. In which case congratulations on your certain promotion. --Rosslessness ; the shambling custodian of UD's past... 17:01, 2 June 2017 (UTC)
I can't dispute that wiki lawyering, other than to point out that these aren't actually votes because I'm not actually a candidate, so technically they could be struck for pretty much any reason whatsoever, such as for cluttering an admin page. :P Aichon 06:32, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
What do you mean? It says "Withdrawn Candidates." Therefore you are a candidate. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 15:48, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
Clearly the heading is wrong. I withdrew my candidacy, so I can't be a candidate any longer. Aichon 23:44, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
But that just makes you a candidate for not being a candidate. We have to vote on whether or not you candidacy is accepted to not be a candidate. --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 19:26, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
Not so. The rules stipulate that a candidate can withdraw their candidacy at any time, without a need for a vote. Given that doing so is an immediate action, there is no period wherein they are a dual candidate both for the position of sysop and the position of former candidate. They simply transition immediately for candidacy to NOT candidacy. Aichon 05:50, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
Okay but it says "retract" not withdraw, so... --  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 13:45, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
Vouch. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 00:20, 3 June 2017 (UTC) Vote struck because I wanted to strike my own vote, just for funsies. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 00:20, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

  6. Vouch. because I used to get in trouble for messing up Admin pages but it seems to be OK these days ;) (shit, it's been so long I've forgotten how to sign these damn things :O --Honestmistake (talk) 00:52, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
