Zombie Survival guide

Now I don't have my copy of the book with me but after reading it it's either an exact copy or damn close to the actual book. The "author" of the page simply stole it and claimed as his own. With a naive "fan" beleiving it was really his work, on the talk page. --Sonny Corleone RRF CRF DORIS Hunt! 22:42, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

  1. Keep Not even close to the book which at least uses more better grammar. --Max Grivas JG / M.F.T. 00:01, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Really? I remember this line though "Although most movies also inform that zombies have certain powers, like teleportation, the ability to fly, telepathy, (etc.) " --Sonny Corleone RRF CRF DORIS Hunt! 00:02, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Perhaps we are not referring to the same material. I was comparing to the copyrighted work of Max Brooks which shares the same title. The Zombie Survival Guide (Complete Protection from the Living Dead) - Three Rivers Press - 2003. Highly Recommended. --Max Grivas JG / M.F.T. 00:46, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
That's what I'm talking about and I know that somewhere in there he says about how zombies have no special powers that they didn't have before death. --Sonny Corleone RRF CRF DORIS Hunt! 00:51, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Your right it does, I didn't recall it metioning teleportation...
There is no way a zombie could fly unless the human it used to be could fly. The same goes for projecting force fields, teleportaion, moving through solid objects, transforming into a wolf, breathing fire, or a variety of other mystical talents attributed to the walking dead. - Fair use snippet from TZSG
What do you think? Although there are similarities I don't think the article infringes on any copyrights. It may draw on those themes but on the whole it is certainly not as cleverly presented. --Max Grivas JG / M.F.T. 02:13, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm the author of This. I'm saying I understand why you want to delete it, but I've never read the book except for one chapter. I used only a couple details from what I've read. But most of My Survival guide is based on my knowledge from movies, games, etc. please don't request to delete it.--Tsume 22:36, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Tsume
You still shouldn't create a page of the same name with close to the same text. If it isn't copyright infringement it's just bad taste. I'd rather see completely original material.--Sonny Corleone RRF CRF DORIS Hunt! 03:31, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes, it does. Microsoft Word is responsible for bad grammar? What kind of argument is that?--Gage 22:28, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
  3. Delete - Misnamed: with that title, it should be a survival guide for zombies, and that would be oxymoronic. (Not to mention short: "Chapter 1: Don't get shot. Chapter 2: When you get shot, stand up. Continue feeding. The end.") -- Atticus Rex mfu pif Δ 23:42, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

  6. Keep - While I'm tempted to vote delete due to the poor quality of the page itself, I can't delete this on terms of plagrisim. The chapter titles are similar, yes, but the overall content isn't even CLOSE to enough to smack of utter plagarism. --MorthBabid 05:19, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
  7. Delete On the contrary, this is the pure definition of plagiarism, and the author admitted as such. Quote: "I've never read the book except for one chapter. I used only a couple details from what I've read." i.e He HAS read the book, but only one chapter. He made reference to, or used details in the book without providing a reference or acknowledgement. THAT is plagiarism. Can someone please also fix the formatting of the votes on here, I tried but I can't see what's wrong. --Panserbjørn 23:47, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

  9. Delete - Why hello again Reptilues. We meet again, well techinally we don't but I've had reason to run in with this low excuse of a group before. Now let me remember their name... The Malton Bounty Emo Killers. they are a 'part' of this so called 50+ group. Well they seem to have a member of my group on their list (and its a pathetic excuse to PK people too- their desciption says they are wearing a trechcoat). Anyway Waaaaggh is his name and we don't appreciate his name on the list despite the fact the group has about 3 members and they live in a suburb halfway across Malton. Well with groups like that in your organisation isn't it just as well we deleted the page full of lies? Now I remember it was you that attempted to organise another seige on caiger through PKer groups, and the ASS... --MarieThe Grove 12:15, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Trenchcoaters are universally reviled for numerous reasons. You should be totally unsurprised that he's being targeted over that. Another thing; what are you implying by mentioning the ASSault? –Xoid MTFU! 04:25, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Me? Nothing. I just recalled reading they asked ASS to join and someone mentioned the Coalition for Fair Tactics. The ASS is the biggest group on the wiki in terms of active members and so forth. Personally I thought killing people for having a trenchcoat was a pathetic excuse to PK someone. I mean if you want to go around and PK people then fine, but because they have written is wearing a trenchcoat in their profile was a bit low. It surprised me that they found the profile in the first place seeing as they hold base on the other side of Malton. Seeing as they had about 3 members they were harming themselves rather than anyone else. --MarieThe Grove 13:20, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
It's not the trenchcoat alone that makes him a target; it's the mindset trenchcoaters have. Admittedly, some people who don't have the mindset use the same description and look like a trenchie. Then again, some people kill trenchcoaters purely because they are so cliche. As to Reptileus' lil' confederacy, they may have asked the ASSault to join, but we're just as disgusted by his blatant lies and unfathomable stupidity as everyone else seems to be. –Xoid MTFU! 02:01, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

But he isn't a trenchcoater. All he wants to do is make up as much shit as possible and create mayhem on the wiki. --Sonny Corleone RRF CRF DORIS Hunt! 19:19, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes, he makes shit up. Hell, I'm a relative newbie and even I can see that. He's not the first. This wiki provides a lot of pathetic cretins people with a big damn microphone, and some just can't resist spouting crap when they have a microphone. But if most of us recognize the crap for what it is, the only mayhem I see is the reaction we get when his someone calls him on his BS. Understand, Sonny, I'm not registering a keep vote by any means; if enough people strongly feel that the page should go, it will go, and it won't break my heart either way. I just hate the thought that we're handing this guy some sort of legitimacy by intimating that his mad ravings have any effect whatsoever on our enjoyment of the game or the wiki. You don't kill a troll with bullets or bludgeons; ignoring them is the only way to make them wither and die (or spur them into doing something that gets them banned). IMHO, of course. -- Atticus Rex mfu pif Δ 20:27, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

I question the desire to delete this; It seems more like the vote is being brought up for personal reasons, and not for any actual on-Wiki griefing or spamming or even an actual PROBLEM. In my personal opinion, this is just as valid a page as the Church of the Resurrection or C4NT. Both of these groups make stuff up, and yet they're tolerated. It's a roleplaying group that views themselves as would-be rulers of the world. They may think they are, but who cares? • Keep People said they'd vote FOR if the other policy didn't ban Rueful or didn't clear Amazing's record. Let this go through unless it was all a lie. You should NOT be able to delete valid policies!! Basil 20:36, 26 October 2006 (BST)
  • Delete I don't personally think this is a valid policy, though. This request should be under the ban hearing sections. -MorthBabid 22:10, 26 October 2006 (BST)
  • Delete This is ridiculous. There is already a similar policy under voting. This is verging on harassment. And besides, isn't it a little stupid to draft policies that affect only one person? Policy should deal with operation of the wiki, not one user's ego. Bubba 23:18, 26 October 2006 (BST)
    • For what it's worth, the Congress passes laws for a single person all the time. --Ron Burgundy 09:35, 27 October 2006 (BST)
      • That doesn't mean they are good laws, or even legal at the end of the day. Look at all the special laws that were passed in the Abraham scandal. Do you really like that type of government? Bubba 18:31, 27 October 2006 (BST)
        • Oh, but they are. I'm pretty sure that's how Miranda warnings came about. :) --Ron Burgundy 00:31, 28 October 2006 (BST)
          • For what it's worth, the Miranda warnings were the result of a Supreme Court ruling, not a law, and they apply to more than one person. -- Alan Watson T·RPM 09:39, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Delete - I originally wasn't going to touch this one, but Bubba actually raises a pretty good point. If you really want some sort of apparatus to unban users, formalize it in a policy, don't just make Amazing-centric things. Leave a comment on my policy and maybe we can hammer something out. -- Alan Watson T·RPM 23:24, 26 October 2006 (BST)
  • Keep - If you are against it, vote that way. Bringing it up for deletion is just trying to exploit a wiki loophole. --Ron Burgundy 09:33, 27 October 2006 (BST)
    • If it can't withstand a deletion vote, there's no way it'd pass the policy page. I don't exactly like deleting policies either but with policy guidelines as loose as they are there's no other way. -- Alan Watson T·RPM 23:00, 27 October 2006 (BST)
      • Right, but this is superfluous and double jeopardy. What if the policy passes but is also deleted? --Ron Burgundy 00:31, 28 October 2006 (BST)
        • How would that be possible? You need a simple majority to save a page from deletion, and 66% of the vote to pass a policy. The only way I could see it is if you could convince me that people would not bother voting on a policy that had a delete tag on it, so it could count as intimidation or something. -- Alan Watson T·RPM 01:50, 28 October 2006 (BST)
          • Fewer people could vote on this page than that one. A lot of people don't know how voting for deletion works. But I don't even need that contingency to make my point; this voting will end before that voting does. --Ron Burgundy 03:25, 28 October 2006 (BST)

    • Hey dipshit. My vote was the reason and the timestamp. I submitted it! HURR.--Gage 19:47, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
      • "It needs to go"... great reason. Hey, let's just make a rule that says that rules are optional for you, just like signing statements. --Kiki Lottaboobs 18:57, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
        • If you wanna get technical, whingebucket, every vote here is invalid by not being preceeded with a #, instead of a bullet. We overlook minor shit like this because there is no reason to waste time on it. There's no effect on the outcome whether there is a bullet or a hash, just as there is no effect on the outcome if someone happens to use the initial vote as the reason. –XoidMTFU! 00:08, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
          • Rules = optional. I get it. --Kiki Lottaboobs 04:05, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
            • Would you like it if I dogged your edits till you messed up? I am sure you would be singing a different tune in M/VB when you were reported because you broke some minor rule buried in the annals of the wiki somewhere. Get over yourself, this doesn't really matter all that much. We don't follow rules just to follow them on the wiki, because some rules are not essential to the smooth operation of the wiki. Get a life.--Gage 04:15, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Delete - for fuck's sake! We just went through this bullshit already. We have to go through it again?
