Cyberbob240

I've been around for... about 6 months now. I've made nearly 1000 edits, including numerous vandalism reverts, templates (my best work is this) and a fairly major policy currently in first draft form (available here) is being worked on in partnership with Wyndallin. If passed and implemented it will change the wiki in a very big way. I made a modship bid about a month ago; I withdrew it on the advice to let my personality reform sink in. Well, it's been a month. I've conducted myself in a reasonable and proper manner since then. I even managed to negotiate my removal from ASS' Enemy list, which I think is a good measure of my ability to stick to my reform. I would say my biggest flaw is my enthusiasm with regard to voting on the Suggestions page. But aren't we all just a little crazy inside? Anyway, please consider me seriously - don't vote kneejerkily (either way!).

Here's a list of my templates for you to browse through:

  • What would you bring to the community if you became a mod that you can't alredy bring to it now? --Jedaz 06:29, 6 May 2006 (BST)
    • I'm a bit obsessed with my refresh button; I'd make judgements and delete things etc. a lot faster - shortening queues (I won't delete/warn/ban everything; I'd make sure it/they deserved it) and removing clutter (eg. a Deletion request that has been ignored for ages). --Cyberbob240CDF - Arb - W! 07:44, 6 May 2006 (BST)
      • I'm in kind of two minds at the moment. I'm wondering if your haste will lead to bad decisions. Although it is a good thing to shorten the ques, making an incorrect decision could be worse then taking longer to assess it properly. However on that note presuming that you don't get too carried away with your duties then you'll make an alright moderator. Just take it easier on the suggestions page though. So thats a Vouch from me. --Jedaz 11:29, 6 May 2006 (BST)
        • I will still be assessing every decision I would be asked to make. My mind is pretty fast (not a boast) - I can go fast and be objectively reasonable. --Cyberbob240CDF - Arb - W! 14:22, 6 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - His past behavior in this wiki might not be something examplar, but for the last month i have seem bob's behavior change for the best. This is a 90% vouch. This CDF tag lost some points on my vouching. JK --hagnat mod 23:06, 6 May 2006 (BST)
  • Comment - I cant say you meet criterion 3, yet. If you get that thing into voting, then maybe, but until then. Any person can plan, not every person carries through those plans. I would advise patience, waiting until you have done that. This is not a vouch or an Anti-Vouch. --Grim s-Mod 21:21, 7 May 2006 (BST)
  • Against - Can't trust you to be impartial. Also what Grim said. MaulMachine 03:16, 8 May 2006 (BST)
  • Against - Is Australian, and therefore is not qualified to do anything. Also, it would be difficult for bob to be impartial and he has helped to provoke more disputes than settle (I do that too, but notice I'm not trying to be a mod). Scinfaxi 19:12, 10 May 2006 (BST)
  • Note Struck out offensive and racist material. --The General W! Mod 20:20, 10 May 2006 (BST)
Removed struck out material. There are no rules governing racist material on this page, General. It may be in bad taste, but so is a lot of other stuff that goes on on this page. --Lucero Capell 20:28, 10 May 2006 (BST)
There is a complaint on the Vandal Banning page about it. --The General W! Mod 20:36, 10 May 2006 (BST)
And your point is? There have been numerous complaints about similar behavior on the Vandal Banning page, most of which are unfounded on any rules. --Lucero Capell 20:38, 10 May 2006 (BST)
Not to start a long discussion on it here, but if you think that's a racist statement, you're a moron. It's a joke and Australians aren't a race anyways. --Scinfaxi 23:39, 10 May 2006 (BST)
Well… Really depends on your definition of race nationalities are often as good as races for the purposes of discrimination, and usually are covered under Racism. Anyway, I'd be careful about the whole Australian bizzo… -- Odd Starter talk o Mod o W! 00:34, 11 May 2006 (BST)
Race and nationality are social constructs, so whether or not they're the same thing is completely arbitrary. Anyway, I think the word you guys are looking for is "prejudice." Of course, that's also the wrong word because "prejudice" implies malice and he's clearly joking! --Ron Burgundy 02:03, 26 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - I'm willing to vouch. I think you'll probably make quite a good sysop. --Odd Starter talk o Mod o W! 00:57, 11 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - I'm kinda iffy on this, from his history, but lately I've seen good things. --SirensT RR 01:01, 11 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - He can be a real cock at times, but if he can restrain his impulses, he'll do an outstanding job. Heres hoping on restraint. –Xoid STFU! 14:47, 12 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - Mature, reformed, and likes my templates. what more could you need? --Mpaturet 06:49, 13 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - Some are functional Mods, some are Behavioral Mods, some are opperational Mods. I think he'll make a good functional Mod so… Conndrakamod T W! 11:38, 13 May 2006 (BST)
    • What's the difference between each of those? --Cyberbob240CDF - Arb - W! 12:12, 13 May 2006 (BST)
      • Functional: Edit and make the Wiki operate more efficiently (i.e. Grim S), Behavioral: Deal more with the People of the Wiki and try to devise ways to smoth out issues (Myself, Oddstarter), Operational: Deal with the specifics of pages and where and how they should be laid out (i.e. Novelty). btw this is by my terminology and observations only and should not be considered policy of any sort, written or otherwise :) Conndrakamod T W! 12:25, 13 May 2006 (BST)
  • Against This is a valid vote. I have received my vandalism warning from Vista, thank you. I don't think Cyberbob should be a moderator because he is rude and not impartial. See link to cyberbobs latest post Cyberbob's Latest Post --Don D Crummitt 18:50, 15 May 2006 (BST)
  • Opinion withdrawn. Decided that this decision was made rashly. Will repost once I have formed a more rounded view of Cyberbobs work. Don D Crummitt 10:25, 17 May 2006 (BST)
  • This isn't a vote. this is merely taking soundings. We make sure that everybody can voice their thoughts about a person in the promotion to moderator. And because it is not a vote, all the comments that are made are weighted against the work and reputation of the user that made them. Don D Crummitt can have his say here, whether or not it will persuade the bureaucrat hinges on how much he takes faith in Don D Crummitt's work and reputation over the work and reputation of the people whose thoughts on Cyberbob240 differ. Kevan is perfectly able to able to interpret the value of Don D Crummitt comment for himself. --Vista W! 22:55, 15 May 2006 (BST) To clean the page up I have moved the rest of both Don D Crummitt's comments and people's responses to him to the talk-page. Don D Crummitt, I urge you to let it rest, this is not the place.--Vista W! 16:33, 16 May 2006 (BST)
  • Yes - I think he will do just fine. He has changed tremendously since all that drama earlier. --Brizth mod T W! 22:38, 15 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - Overall, a good guy. I'm working with him on the Harassment policy, although it's stagnated a bit through no fault of his. I hope to have it completed by the end of the month. -Wyn (talk!) 23:33, 15 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - I've seen him grow a lot in the time he spend in the wiki. He obviously tries to make this wiki a better place. He is a valuable user who responds well to constructive critism. I do still have problems making my mind up if he would be suitable as a moderator. He is still somewhat too excitable in some areas. He can reply a bit too heated in cases were the critism was unfounded the making him a bit quick to jump the gun. And unfortunately the duties of a moderator are such that he'll be confronted more in that way then he has now. In the end I remain dispite his qualities a bit ambivalent. --Vista W! 09:10, 16 May 2006 (BST)
  • Against - Having re-evaluated my original decision by looking a bit more into Bob's history, I still feel he should not be a mod. Bob, although intelligent, with thorough wiki-knowledge, is extremely confrontational, as can be seen in his history with several wiki members. Whilst, by Conndraka's definition, he'd make a good functional mod, I just don't think he handles himself well when faced with a difficult situation. And before anyone says anything, this is in no way a dig at Cyberbob. Don D Crummitt 22:38, 17 May 2006 (BST)
    • Comment - You think I'll make a good functional mod, then go on to say I wouldn't make a good mod...? Anyway, a functional mod is what I aim to be. I know my faults; I know I can't accept unfair criticism very well (I do know when I deserve criticism). --Cyberbob240CDF - U! - WTF 08:27, 18 May 2006 (BST)
      • RE I was trying to be as diplomatic as possible. What I should have written was "maybe he'd make a good functional mod", due to the fact that you obviously have a decent command of the wiki. But again, overall you've proved overly sensitive and reactionary, which I do not feel should constitute the skills of a mod. Don D Crummitt 09:48, 18 May 2006 (BST)
        • OK. I respect your opinion, now that it's being presented in a reasonable fashion. --Cyberbob240CDF - U! 14:06, 19 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - Cyberbob is officially a member of my WikiClique. Ergo, lol support group. Go Cyber. --Undeadinator 07:55, 21 May 2006 (BST)
  • against - NO, NO, NO, NO, and NO. You are not impartial AT ALL! You flame me on the wiki a lot, plus I suspect you deleted my WTFZOMBIES! page even though it wasn't ready to be deleted and is still being voted on! Mattiator 02:36, 24 May 2006 (BST)
    • That would be difficult, seeing as he can't delete anything without being a Moderator... -- Odd Starter talk o Mod o W! 02:49, 24 May 2006 (BST)
    • Cyberbob can't delete anything, as he is not a moderator. "WTFZOMBIES!" sucked anyway. If you really wanted that page to stand a chance, you should have put some real effort into creating it, instead of merely being intent on adding to it after the fact. I won't say anything on him flaming you though, I'm not sure if he has or not. Heh, Odd managed to get in mere seconds before I started checking for typos. Me no likey edit conflicts! –Xoid STFU! 02:52, 24 May 2006 (BST)
      • And then there's the fact that you created this, and made a death threat against me here, Mattiator. --A Bothan SpyCDF - WTF - U! 05:21, 24 May 2006 (BST)
        • Man, that has got to be just about the shittiest-looking template ever. If you're going to make juvenile death threats over the intarwubs, at least try to make them aesthetically enjoyable. --Jimbo Bob ASS oU! 06:45, 24 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - (Vouch is a funny word, isn't it?) I do not agree with all of Cyberbob's opinions and personal views, but I will say that he doesn't give the impression that he would abuse mod powers. He has contributed to the wiki and would contribute to a greater extent if he is promoted. --Timid Dan 20:26, 24 May 2006 (BST)
  • Dunno if I'm still allowed to Vouch with the "Ready for Processing" thing, but if so consider this one of those. Additionally, it should be noted that he also came up with the crazy awesome {{Speling}} template. --Jimbo Bob ASSU! 21:01, 25 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - CyberBob is an OK dude. That and he put gold in my basket. --Ron Burgundy 02:05, 26 May 2006 (BST)
