Cyberbob

First off, I fully realise how mad I am for doing this.

Having said that, I've done some thinking (more like a lot), and have come to the conclusion that I still have a lot to offer to the wiki. I may not be as psychotically active as I once was (*mutters something about school*), but I'm still here pretty much every day for at least an hour or two to have a poke around. With your permission, I'd like to extend said poking around to the administrative sections.

You might (quite rightly) ask "What need do we have of another sysop? Don't we have plenty?" That is true... to an extent. Being in Australia, my hours of activity are pretty unique. As far as I'm aware (please correct me if I'm wrong), Grim is the only current Australian sysop - and while he's on most days, I'm a firm believer in redundancy. If there's a vandalism spree on a day he isn't online, said spree could go unchecked for hours before another sysop logs on to deal with it. Having a second sysop placed in this timeslot could potentially save us a lot of angst, I think.

Onto the tricky bit. =)

I realise my conduct in the past was... rough. I apologise for that. There were too many times where I flew off the hook at the drop of a hat, only to realise that the target of my anger was some ignorant newbie. 9 times out of 10, I apologised and helped them with their problem - but that doesn't really excuse my behaviour, does it? I didn't learn from my mistakes, and kept on running into the same problems over and over again. This, of course, led to my eventual demotion.

I'm not going to make any grand promises of revolutionary changes in attitude - that would be insulting. Rather, I'm aiming for a far more achievable and reasonable goal. I believe my conduct over the past... two aweeks? has been of a far more acceptable standard. I haven't been Mr. Perfect, but neither have I been overly caustic. I've taken part in a number of discussions while maintaining a good level of decorum, and I believe have positively affected the wiki as a result. I plan on maintaining this standard.

Anywho, I hope you guys can find it in your hearts to forgive this old wiki geezer (even though I'm 17 lawl). Thanks. --Cyberbob DORIS CGR U! 15:09, 13 September 2007 (BST)

ADDENDUM: If anyone still has a beef with me, please contact me on my talk page. I'm more than happy to talk things through with you, and hopefully resolve things in a friendly manner. --Cyberbob DORIS CGR U! 15:11, 13 September 2007 (BST)

  • VOUCH Happy to be the first (and probably not last) you can be abrasive and you frequently are. However I have seen the improvements in your "rough behaviour" and as long as such stuff doesn't get in the way of you doing the stuff mods/sysops do then I am happy to wish you luck... I still reserve the right to pick fights with you when you get abusive tho :) --Honestmistake 15:23, 13 September 2007 (BST)
  • Vouch Because he liek mudkips... --People's Commissar Hagnat [cloned] [mod] 15:40, 13 September 2007 (BST)
  • Against - I've had much more plesent conversations with Cyberbob in these past few weeks then I can ever remember having in the past (but it goes both ways, I was to blame for drama at times). That being said, before I can honestly say that I would like Cyberbob in a position of power again I need to see if this change is for real. It has only been two months since his last leave of absence, and many broken promises before have left me un-trusting of these kinds of promises. If you really want the position Cyberbob then I'm sure you will be able to wait at few extra months to prove yourself. - If Jedaz = 15:50, 13 September 2007 (BST) then pi = 2 + 1
  • Strongly Against - A long history of questionable judgement and is extremely drama prone. He's asked for a lot of second chances and was generally able to clean up his act for short periods of time untill he was granted that chance only to revert back to his old behaviour. While he has had a long history on this wiki, I do not believe that his contibutions to this wiki will improve with sysop powers.-- Vista  +1  15:55, 13 September 2007 (BST)
  • Strongly Against - We've been down this road before, to be honest, and while I'll agree that the open hostility over the past couple weeks has been much reduced, there is still an underlying nastiness that permeates every discussion I see you jump into. PROTIP: You really don't need to start every paragraph with PROTIP:. That's insulting and asinine, frankly, and it shows me that your current level of restraint doesn't go very far below the surface. Right now, this wiki is going through a debate about the balance between freedom of expression and civility; the last thing we need is another sysop who just can't keep himself north of the line. -- Atticus Rex mfu pif Δ 17:56, 13 September 2007 (BST)
  • Vouch Because sometimes the best thing to do with someone with an "interesting" past is to give them some responsibility.--Seventythree 18:11, 13 September 2007 (BST)
  • Strongly against - Vista's vote says what I would without generating the needless ammounts of drama my own comments would just because they're mine. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRCT+1 18:14, 13 September 2007 (BST)
  • Abstain - Even I have moments of retardedness (see the Deletions page for my most recent episode >.<), so for that I can forgive. However, I don't think I could vouch for you either. --Ryiis 19:01, 13 September 2007 (BST)

  • Against - Because of the drama you've been involved in. --Toejam A Stats Graph 21:08, 13 September 2007 (BST)
  • Against - All i know about you is connected with drama. haven't seen any your projects on this wiki --~~~~ [Talk] 21:12, 13 September 2007 (BST)
  • Strongly Against - In the past, you've proven yourself to be an immature douchebag. I doubt anything has changed. And no, you're not the only Australian Sysop. Just go to my user page. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 21:18, 13 September 2007 (BST)
  • Against - I don't really see much change in your demeanor or the way you present yourself. Sure, you don't fly off the handle as much anymore, but we already have enough "Desensitized" sysops. --Akule School's in session. 23:35, 13 September 2007 (BST)
  • Against As Vista.--Wooty 01:40, 14 September 2007 (BST)
  • Vouch-I think you make a good sysop.--ShadowScope 03:43, 14 September 2007 (BST)
  • Vouch - If only for the lulz. --User:Axe27/Sig 05:26, 14 September 2007 (BST)
  • Vouch - You didn't have to review yourself for demotion but you did anyway. Shows good sense of character and fairness (or one is overly confident) --MarieThe Grove on Tour 15:46, 14 September 2007 (BST)
  • Vouch - I think your attitude on the wiki has improved overall and i'd glady vouch for you. Just dont mess up this time. --Nimrod1 17:28, 14 September 2007 (BST)
  • Abstain - I'm not in-the-know enough to offer an informed vote, either way, thus I abstain. The commentary above is hearsay, so I won't vote on the basis of that... But, I will say that two weeks of "good behavior" given the alleged long history of "misbehavior"... Sorry, but if all the negative comments are valid, a measly two weeks of good behavior just doesn't cut it, no chance. Maybe 2 months... --WanYao 19:57, 14 September 2007 (BST)
  • Against - I don't trust you. Also I think the wiki would be improved if more adults were in charge.--Kristi of the Dead 00:25, 15 September 2007 (BST)
  • Against - I've been a supporter of politeness ion the wiki since I arrived here. I think that all newly promoted SysOps should be user friendly. I personally don't have a problem with younger users on the wiki in positions of power, I've been here in an official position since late 16, if I do my math right. However, I don't think that abrasive users of any age, no matter how active they are are a good choice. --Darth Sensitive Talk W! 04:30, 15 September 2007 (BST)
  • Abstain -But I only do so because I mod on the same boards as you. Whatever the outcome, please measure your words well and be a good example for those that read your posts.--Jellofun 07:11, 15 September 2007 (BST)
  • Against - Doesn't have the right temperment to be an impartial sysop. Quite the drama whore. This is not a personal attack, only based on what I've seen in his past wiki activity. --Zod Rhombus 17:43, 15 September 2007 (BST)
  • Abstain - I don't know you, and there are an overwhelming amount of current sysops that are saying no... but I always thought you were already one. Meh, as I said, I don't know you.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 17:55, 15 September 2007 (BST)

Well, that was quite the failure, wasn't it? I know where this is going - no need to prolong the agony. I'd like to withdraw this. --Cyberbob DORIS CGR U! 03:00, 16 September 2007 (BST)
