Xoid

Nomination: I'd like to nominate Xoid for Mod status. He's been working overtime on creating and fixing location stubs faster than (cue self deriding humor) I can mess them up. Despite his Project:UnWelcome which I find funny, yet devisive, I feel he would be a valuable asset to the Mod team. Yes he can seem a bit arrogant at times but sometimes thats needed in the world of editing. Conndrakamod T W! 18:37, 13 May 2006 (BST)

I'd like to add that Conn is a little bit off here. I don't seem arrogant, I am arrogant. It's not exactly the best personality trait, but I am willing to admit it. –Xoid STFU!

*blinks* Like, um… uh… er… I know that I don't meet the criterion for being here at least two months. As such, I'm pretty sure that I'm ineligable for moderatorship, all other concerns aside. I'd be willing to take on the burden simply because I've seen the need for a moderator who operates at really odd hours. (Ever gotten up at 4am to contribute on the wiki, 'cause you can't get to sleep… yes, I'm a very, very sad person.)
Most of the moderators here seem to operate during what is Australia's daytime, because of this there has been a lack of action when action has been needed. It's not the fault of the current moderators in any way, shape or form, it's simply an inherit disadvantage associated that comes with the relatively small active user base the wiki has.

Contributions: ~50 really important. >900 useful. About 50–150 others. Exact numbers are fuzzy, as I've lost count. It's a real pain to try and keep track of it all, even with Special:Contributions/Xoid to help out. –Xoid STFU! 07:14, 14 May 2006 (BST)

  • Vouch Conndrakamod T W! 18:37, 13 May 2006 (BST) (edit to add: This also asumes Xoid can tone down publicly some of the ranting that apears privately on his talk page. -C-)
    • I'm the first to admit that I'm far from perfect, but I can't promise that. I can promise that I'll try my best to do so, but like Mia, my emotions can get the best of me. Bear in mind that abusing a position of authority is against my core beliefs, so even if I do fly off the handle, no one is going to get perma-banned while the rest of the mods are on their lunch break. As to why I make my vitriol easily noticeable? I think transparency and accountability are good things. Which is why, regardless of how stupid something I say is, I'll keep an archive of it. –Xoid STFU! 07:14, 14 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - U! Uhh... I mean, U!p with Xoid! Seriously though, he's wikismart, he's fresh, and his name begins with X. --Lucero U! T 18:39, 13 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - Annoyingly critical of XHTML standards, but generally a good guy. ;) --SirensT RR 18:43, 13 May 2006 (BST)
Note: Despite having three vouches, Xoid must agree to nomination before being moved to the next header.
To quote what you said about another candidate: "He's also one of them typo correcting freaks." –Xoid STFU!
  • Vouch - With major reservations. If he keeps all verbal contact with other people a minimum (and stays the fuck out of people's user pages without permission), he'll do fine. It's his temper and arrogance I'm concerned about here. --Cyberbob240CDF - Arb - W! 06:33, 14 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - A bit too judgemental, a bit to quick too loose his temper for my liking. But seeing the incredible amounts of work he does and the way he tend to help with complex issues that does make me think he'd be a good mod, as long as he doesn't have to do the more intrapersonal tasks of a moderator. I'd ideally see him adopt the same limitations as Grim s has done for himself. Otherwise he still has a way to go in mellowing out. A big part of the moderator task nowadays is trying to minimize drama. Xoid's somewhat heavy handed tone is not particulary suited. But his technical suitabilaty is without a doubt and he would be a fine asset to offset the less wiki savvy moderators like me in that department.--Vista W! 08:26, 16 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - Although the (over)use of blink tag has to go ;) --Brizth mod T W! 08:30, 14 May 2006 (BST)
    Done. –Xoid STFU!
  • Against - Not that I don't think that Xoid would make a good Moderator... eventually. I think Xoid shows many of the qualities that I expect in a Moderator (among other things, he actually cares about the wiki). With that said, I think an extra month to mellow out a little further is probably required before I can wholeheartedly vouch for him. (Although, as a quick note, the 2 month guideline is exactly that - a guideline, He's certainly more than exemplary in several other guidelines... -- Odd Starter talkModW! 10:17, 14 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - Watched him work hard to deal with a persistant Vandal, and is definately able to fill a time slot that otherwise isn't being filled. Gets a thumbs up from me. --Karlsbad 18:37, 15 May 2006 (BST)
  • Against - I think Xoid has a bit of distance to go in the "not be overly aggressive about punishing people for pointlessly small infractions" department. Of course, this could just be a tendency for people looking for moderatorship (I see it in others): there seems to be an overwhelming spate of "HAY GUYS! DELETE THIS ITS POINTLESS!", "HAY GUYS THIS DUDE IS TEH VANDAL!", and "HAY GUYS LOOKS AT MAH AYTCH TEE EM ELL!". --Jorm 07:31, 16 May 2006 (BST)
    • Personally, I think a system of 5 or 10 minute bans for a second offence with a "You are this close to getting a full 24 hours." might make some vandals think. Regardless, apart from reporting a vandal or banhammering an Adbot, I don't really see myself going near the page. –Xoid STFU! 10:04, 16 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch -- Sure. I think he'd do well. MaulMachine U! 16:30, 18 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - He likes us! He really likes us! Also, he's a smart guy who cares about the wiki. Sounds like the description of a good mod to me. --Jimbo Bob ASSU! 06:20, 23 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - In my experience, he's knowledgeable, responsible, and seems dedicated to the wiki. Definitely would make a good mod. --Bob Hammero W!U! 10:00, 24 May 2006 (BST)
  • Vouch - Xoid knows things about computers. --Ron Burgundy 01:45, 26 May 2006 (BST)
