The Faggots

Pointless personal attack from someone unknown against GANKBUS --hagnat tw 02:45, 12 April 2006 (BST)

  • Keep - Pardon, but I fail to see how, unless association with GANKBUS is somehow an implicit insult. It doesn't even link to the GANKBUS. (Could use some editing. I'll take care of that.) --Gene W! Talk 03:25, 12 April 2006 (BST)
Thanks for the edit. I made the page in a hurry, so I didn't have time to complete those. I don't know why people find this page insulting since we make it clear we are referring to a bunch of sticks when we say "faggots". It's in our motto. well, on first sight, before the most recent edit, it did look like something to make fun at Gankbus (they do make fun of themselves alone, but you get it). Since, what kind of group names themselves 'the faggots', adds only text whitout layout and makes someone who has only 3 edits on this wiki (2 of them in this page) create it ? The Great Humongous

Pointless personal attack. --Zaruthustra-Mod 22:09, 11 April 2006 (BST)

Keep: There's nothing wrong or "pointless" about pointing out PK'ers. If the Humongous wants to step up for himself and explain his actions, so be it, but otherwise there's no harm in this page, since Mr. H is a PK'er. It also helps by pointing out what a dorkwad Mr. Vykos was being by referencing PK tracking websites without actually providing links to them, rendering him an enormous faggot. ~ Murder 04:32, 12 April 2006 (BST)

Drop it. Practically no one would read this page about the enormous faggots if you didn't turn it into some drama. Tool. ~ Murder 04:32, 12 April 2006 (BST)

Image:NoAmazing.jpg

Here. Copyright violation. Not covered by "Fair Use" as it devalues my work. Users agree that they are not violating a copyright when uploading an image. Uploading an image for hosting does not constitute making it Public Domain. This doesn't fit deletion criteria because a Mod should be able to remove this without it since it violates the basic rules of the Wiki. A small handful of users, however, demand this be voted on here, so I am doing what they wish. -- Amazing 01:17, 8 April 2006 (BST)

  • Keep Not too keen on the concept of "parody", are ya? --Slicer 01:21, 8 April 2006 (BST)
It's not a parody. It is edited copyrighted work. This is striaght-up violation of the rules and trolling via misused vote. -- Amazing 01:22, 8 April 2006 (BST)
If banning me is what's going to get you removed, just fucking do it. I don't even play this game much anymore and haven't been to the wiki in a month. --Slicer 01:23, 8 April 2006 (BST)
I realize all you guys are trying to do with all of this is get me removed. Sorry, I'm too smart for that. Thank you, though, for admitting that's what you're trying to do. -- Amazing 01:26, 8 April 2006 (BST)
  • Keep - As I mentioned, it is provided for under fair use. From US Code 17 USC § 107: "the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright." Court cases Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music, Inc. and Suntrust v. Houghton Mifflin both interpret this law to provide for the fair use of copyrighted works for parody. --Lucero Capell 01:31, 8 April 2006 (BST)
  • Moderator: Sorry. Even if it doesn't qualify under satire, it almost certainly qualifies under commentary, and thus fair use. -- Odd Starter talkModW! 01:27, 8 April 2006 (BST)
Please look up Fair Use and you will see it does not apply when it affects the value of the work. -- Amazing 01:28, 8 April 2006 (BST)
Odd Starter said it. Commercial use does not invalidate fair use. --Lucero Capell 01:31, 8 April 2006 (BST)
Lucero's right. The value of the work, in US copyright law, is a mitigating factor in determining whether it's fair use or copyright violation, but devaluation alone does not a violation make. Simple original commerical intent is not, under any circumnstances, a way to overcome fair use. Further, most courts choose to place the primary factor of violation on the nature of the fair use, ie the purpose of the copy/derivation.
Of course, if you wish to protest this, it is unfortunately beyond the scope of this wiki, and you will most likely have to get real-life lawyers involved. -- Odd Starter talkModW! 01:39, 8 April 2006 (BST)
Sweet Jesus, the drama in here has gotten so thick that I can see him actually doing that. Odd, I say again: You KNEW this was going to happen. Was it really worth screwing with the whole wiki to watch him get hoisted by his own petard? --Slicer 01:41, 8 April 2006 (BST)
Well.. I know an Entertainment lawyer who hasn't paid me for a lot of website design, so I could actually bring suit. That said, I'd rather see some sort of moral quality here without litigation. This is nothing more than "working backward" from what's right and moral toward what people would prefer. This has been moved to deletion since it's failed Speedy Deletion with the first misused Keep vote. -- Amazing 02:02, 8 April 2006 (BST)

Peons can't understand that there'd be no need for the Copyright Violation text on the Upload page if anyone was alowed to upload any material they wanted since everything is Fair Use and, apparently, as long as you say those two words, you can do anything you like.

Explain why the "Copyright Violation" note exists on the upload page - Peons. -- Amazing 23:25, 8 April 2006 (BST)

This should happen reguardless of likes, dislikes or otherwise.Just because you find it funny or not should not be the main issue here. In other words it has ceased to be parody and is purely harrassment and in the interests of the wiki itself should be removed. The intent while critical is purely to show a malicious purpose and the wiki would be better off without it. --Prosperina 9:30 13 Apris 2006 (BST)

- Satire is acceptable, as is protest action. --Grim s 12:02, 13 April 2006 (BST)

- It's not literature therefore it cannot be satire. And in any case even if this were 100% legal, just because you are able to do something doesn't mean you should. It isn't necessary and offers no merit. It's merely a picture with a line through it. Even with satire and parody a certain amount of the copyrighted work must be changed in order for it to be a parody. One could argue that a line is insufficient. Keeping this merely because someone is upset with it is a bad idea and since the source image is his, I will continue to advocate its removal. If you really want a noamazing sign its not hard to mock up a similar picture not using his source. --Prosperina 01:13, 13 April 2006 (BST)

  • Keep - Before you read on, note this: I'm being brutally honest. It's nothing personal.
Amazing: regardless of whether they had your permission or not, parody and satire are pretty much sacrosanct in America. As such, you would never win under American law. In any country other than America? You'd still lose. The image criticises you, and criticism is allowable under all the copyright laws I've read so far.
There is one possible exception to all this though, the bloody yanks and their law-that-is-a-disgrace-to-intelligent-life-everywhere: the DCMA. That thing is so poorly worded that the "Church" of Scientology is able to use it as a tool for censorship, which is apparently what you are after.
Even if you do choose to stoop that low, you may be sorely disappointed… Why? Read up on the DMCA debacle in regards to Encyclopædia Dramatica's attempts to use the DMCA against Wikipedia and Uncyclopedia — Wikipedia has said that their usage of the Encyclopædia Dramatica logo constitutes fair use. Encyclopædia Dramatica is essentially powerless in this regard. Unless you have both the material resources that the CoS possesses and the audacity to utilise that… abomination that masquerades as law…
Hopefully you'll see the error in your logic, before it comes to that particular brand of idiocy. –Xoid STFU!

Amazing_should_not_be_an_arbitrator

This case was worked-around by Rasher, who went ahead and merged the pages before the voting was complete. Moderators still inactive as per this work-around. -- Amazing 04:33, 7 April 2006 (BST)

Off-topic (This wiki isn't about personal attacks), also full of insulting, inflammatory trolling. The last thing this Wiki needs is more Amazing drama. Created solely out of spite by a member of GANKBUS.

I also ask the page's creator and major contributors be banned for at least 24 hours for abuse and misuse of the wiki. Furthermore its supporters are merely PKer/Griefers currently attacking me and my group every day in-game, and a handful of trolls. -- Amazing 19:08, 3 April 2006 (BST)

There are many folks who agree with us and would like to see him removed from any sort of wiki-based responsibility. This page represents that. There is no personal attacking or false information on the page; it links directly to specific incidents citing why we feel he does not belong as an arbitrator. We also linked to this page from the arbitrator page, which we felt was a fair way of showcasing it. No one is forced to use the template unless they agree with us, and GANKBUS feels the page is fair and should stay. We already have people not related to GANKBUS signing the petition...only 2 GANKBUS members are registered on the wiki - Rueful and myself. We would not like this moved to our personal page and would like to keep the template so everyone can show support for this claim until Amazing is removed as an arbitrator. Rasher - 2:57 EST April 3 2006
  • Delete - Anyone is allowed to be an arbirator, if you don't like him then you can prevent him from arbitrating your cases. The reason their is so much Amazing drama is because people won't leave him alone.--The General 20:03, 3 April 2006 (BST)

  • It seems that merging is what is requested. I'll hook that up right now and change the template. -Rasher
  • Merged - The old page can be deleted whenever. You can now view the petition at Arbitration Talk and the template has been updated accordingly. Rasher 21:37, 3 April 2006 (BST)
  • Delete -Lets stop with the personal attacks, All the drama is getting out of hand. Amazing has his quirks as we all do, and while he should work on getting a thicker skin and being less abrasive, you guys aren't any less annoying or bothersome. Lets play a new game, It's called 'pretend'. We 'pretend' that we are all reasonable mature adults, and you know what? It's everybodies turn now.--Vista W! 22:28, 3 April 2006 (BST)
  • Delete If the major contributor to the page can vote to keep it, I can vote to delete it. This wiki is an abomination. THIS IS UP FOR A VOTE FOR AS LONG AS THE RULES SAY. The page's creator does not get to select the votes he likes. -- Amazing 22:50, 3 April 2006 (BST)
    • Re: - The person putting the page up for a vote does not vote himself. --Lucero Capell 23:06, 3 April 2006 (BST)
      • Re: Then neither should the person whose page is being voted ON. -- Amazing 03:25, 5 April 2006 (BST)
  • Merge, then. --Spiro 22:55, 3 April 2006 (BST)
  • Merge - Its good for the people of the wiki to be able to raise concerns they have, I can understand you being mad at those who started this petition, but shouting " This wiki is an abomination!" makes me almost willing to sign that petition. Keep that temper down Dr. Zing -Banana Bear4 23:03, 3 April 2006 (BST)
  • Changed vote: Merge - GANKBUS is in full compliance with the merge decision and has already merged the page. However, Amazing has attempted to vandalize it, but it was reverted. Listed vandalization attempt on Vandal Banning page. Rasher 23:14, 3 April 2006 (BST)
  • Delete - Untill he proves that he is a bad arbitrator, by actually arbitrating, this page is Slander. For those of you who do not know, It specifically states in the United States and British Constitutions, that Slander, IS NOT COVERED BY "FREEDOM OF SPEECH".--Duce Nauks 00:35, 4 April 2006 (BST)
Thanks Mr. Jefferson, but slander according to google is "words falsely spoken that damage the reputation of another." Nothing on our page is false, and we provide referential links to everything we mention. The page is legitimate and not slander.Rasher 00:51, 4 April 2006 (BST)
And the correct term would be libel, as it is printed (Or the online equivelent) rather than spoken words that are of interest here. But as Rasher said, it's a moot point. -Nubis 00:54, 4 April 2006 (BST)
I'm sorry guys, I didn't realize that google, wrote the Constitution. Or, maybe, it's that the Constitution, Has been interpreted differently, throughout history. But you never know, maybe you guys are right, and google did write the Constitution. *Cough* *Cough* DUMASSES! *Cough*--Duce Nauks 21:04, 4 April 2006 (BST)
  • Delete - Until he proves in an arbitration case that he is unfit to do so, there's really no need in my opinion for said page. If he did do a poor job arbitrating, my vote would be different, but until then he deserves the benefit of the doubt. -Nubis 01:02, 4 April 2006 (BST)
  • This isn't the place to argue about whether or not Amazing should be an arbitrator - that can be done on my page. It does need to be deleted now, since it was moved to the Arbitration discussion. Rasher 01:38, 4 April 2006 (BST)
  • Delete - nuff was said already. But this ban the creator and page contrubutor is too much. People will always complain and strike against things they dont want to be the way they are, it is some kind of right to them. This page must be deleted not because they are wrong, but because they already have a better place to complain. --hagnat talk 02:40, 4 April 2006 (BST)
  • I'm fine with deleting it now that it has been moved. I am not fine with deleting the discussion on the arbitration page. Rasher 04:22, 4 April 2006 (BST)

  • Merge - People should be able to protest it. --Grim s 10:14, 11 April 2006 (BST)
  • Keep - Comments that are factual and based on imperical observation can neither be slander nor libel. Further, as Amazing has become something of a "public figure" the standards are raised even higher. (Amusingly enough.) --Gene W! - Talk 03:58, 12 April 2006 (BST)

Vampire

Reason Weird one - obviously nothing to do with Urban Dead, and seems to be a straight copy of the creator's Wikipedia page itself a page that was deleted from Wikipedia for being nonsense. The writer presumably wanted to make sure it lived on somewhere, so copied it to the UD wiki. DrWhat has made no other changes to our wiki other than to add this page. --Spiro 22:43, 2 April 2006 (BST)

  • Delete - Yup, not much applicability to UD here. --Lucero Capell 20:59, 3 April 2006 (BST)
  • Delete / Redirect - Yeah, no place here. I'm going to find any pages that link to it and redirect them to Wikipedia's entry. --Mia Kristos 01:00, 4 April 2006 (BST)
After a quick search, the only page that links to it is User:A Vampire. It's to early in the year to be part of the April Fool's joke, but I think we should put in a redirect to the April Fools page anyways.

Unused Images

I just tagged a few images as deletion candidates. They can be found in Category:Deletion Candidates. I may only have tagged 9 images, but there is 300+ hosted images that arent used anywhere in this wiki. I think that, for the best of this wiki, most of those files should be erased. --hagnat tw 13:40, 9 April 2006 (BST)

Hmm. I though old unused images were deleted automatically. Or did I miss something? --Brizth W! 15:30, 9 April 2006 (BST)

Ludwig_Controversy

Reason This Wiki is for the game Urban Dead. Little to no information about the forums, other than that they exist, should be here. There is especially no reason for a new user to need or care about this page. Additionally, it is little more than a collection of opinions and "facts" biased toward whoever was the last to edit it at the time, up until it was locked. --Mia Kristos 19:18, 21 March 2006 (GMT)

WANTED

Reason Some group just decided to splay their POV hitlist out over multiple pages instead of keeping it on their own area. --Zaruthustra-Mod 21:25, 20 March 2006 (GMT)

  • Keep i don't see y this page should be deleted its not causeing any trouble. the only people offended are groups that lie and cause trouble for the iwm. they are just assholes that ruin games.
  • Keep I don't see why this page should be deleted. If it was offensive or posted in areas it shouldn't belong then I'd understand, but it's not offensive and the only way to access it is through the groups own page, and another groups page. I also don't see multiple pages, it's clearly only one page.--Duce Nauks 22:16, 20 March 2006 (GMT)
  • Keep I am in a group that was at war with the IWM and have just now reached a cease fire. So you know I aint exactly friends with them, especially Duce Nauks. But the wanted post is valid. heck, im on it for crying out loud (get my name right man!). Ive got no problem with these guys naming targets. Its stupid this should even be considered. And Duce is right, it is just one page and can only be accessed from their wiki page.--tarrok 22:53, 20 March 2006 (GMT)
    • Re: The policy on these kinds of pages is pretty much nonexistant. I nominated it because non-group pages are not supposed to be POV, and a kill list is by its very nature a POV statement. Whether this counts as a group page? We'll let people weigh in. Even if it is only linked from the imperium, people might come on it by other ways such recently changed or random. Also its just bad policy in general to let group pages bloat out across the wiki, and I've been meaning to challenge the practice of it for a while. --Zaruthustra-Mod 23:24, 20 March 2006 (GMT)

Ps. hiya Duce! lol DELETE!!!: down with the imperial propaganda!!! they kill all who are weak and seek help, and believe in the "if ur not with us, ur against us" theory. besides, i really can't stand pkers. they suck ass (user scanlon)

  • Merge - Ok, more of a move, as where I suggest merging it doesn't exist yet. But, basically, I'd suggest putting it under Imperial War Machine/WANTED if it's going to be left on the wiki. That way they've still got their own seperate page for the list, and it's in a location that makes it quite clear that it's a group thing and not a generic wiki thing. (That said, if it came up in policy discussion, I'd vote for keeping lists of these sorts off of the wiki, as they cause more trouble (with regards to wiki users and edit wars) than they're worth.) — g026r 02:24, 21 March 2006 (GMT)
