This recent bit of drama is not the first time that trick has been used. This policy isn't terribly important or crucial, but I think it'd just make the wiki a slightly less annoying place.--'STER-Talk-ModP! 02:19, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

This is a stupid policy, because it mostly punishes noobies and is just reactionary. Mr. Necromancer 02:17, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Seconded. This is stupid.--Gage 02:37, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

..care to say why?--'STER-Talk-ModP! 03:02, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
That is why we have M/A. We can sort this shit out ourselves, and don't need a policy.--Gage 03:06, 15 December 2006 (UTC)--Gage 03:06, 15 December 2006 (UTC)
Well, yes, but it just doesn't seem necessary for us to have a great big argument with rebuttals and so on every time someone plays a lame trick with a font loophole. We could not have any rules at all and settle every problem with an arbitration, but we'd rather not.--'STER-Talk-ModP! 22:07, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Which party is considered to have started it?--J Muller 05:06, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Wait, back up...how the hell could the misunderstanding of the lowercase letter "L" and uppercase letter "i" ever result in a major disaster worthy of arbitration? The links above don't really show me how this even APPLIES to anything? --MorthBabid 02:40, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

The case going on right now between TheUncleBob and and Angels of Mercy is a perfect example. Because somebody in AoM used this trick to play a joke on Bob, he got annoyed, we had to do a whole arbitration. With this rule we could save time if somebody tries it again.--'STER-Talk-ModP! 03:07, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
I had to dig into the archive again to see what you meant. I understand now...I guess I was just surprised it was over something so simple. The levels people will go to annoy one another boggle the mind. Perhaps we should simplify this so it covers ANY falsification of text characters in such a manner, that way we don't have to go through all possible ASCII font permutations with their own unique policies? --MorthBabid 23:42, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

No vote and it has now been more than two weeks so this gets thrown into the archove section. Pillsy FT 14:43, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
