Brief Description

Upham Auto Repair, a tall free standing grey-stone building with a small apartment over the office and a full basement. All of the building's doors have been secured including the fire door in the rear. Through the broken windows, you can see that the interior of the building has been partially ruined. The counter hides beneath auto part brochures, old receipts, well worn manuals, and empty boxes.

The many awards, now forgotten, tile the floor with faded pride. The accolades and degrees gather dust on damaged walls. The friendly coffee maker offers only a dark brown sludge, yet it still tastes the same as it did in its hey day. The vinyl chairs in the waiting room upturned and torn remind the visitor that Alex Upham's sense of decor never left the 60s and subsequent owners focused more on the cars than the building. It showed.

Description

Upham Auto Repair or now known to Malton locals as Dr. Crank Case's Auto, has been servicing Malton's locals since 1996, its' 1960s deco is iconic and recognisable in downtown Shearbank, it radiates culture and style into Upham street, as it is named after. With two front garage entries and a large fenced backyard area for deliveries, this Auto Repair centre on the inside more looks like something out of the future, as it has spacious Office's, Staff Room, Storage Area, Car showroom ,Crew Quarters and even locker rooms with showers in the basement.

Until the neighborhood beautification committee complained, Upham featured a selection of cars partially buried erect in the backyard and the rear end of a '78 Pinto as a BBQ pit. On Sundays, it hosted car clubs (and street races unofficially) until the late 80s. Upham has always been a place for car nuts to gather no matter who owned it.

History

Since March 3, 2008

With the retirement of RJ Kennedy & Lieutenant Stig, long time employee, known only as DCC, took over the business. The shop is closed for remodeling at this time.

Early 1996 As of July 1996, RJ Kennedy and Lieutenant Stig took over business from deranged owner, Tarquin Gymer son of the original owner Alex Upham. Since then the place has seen dozens if not hundreds of improvements, and many expansions. Since 1997 it has been renown in Malton for Kennedy and Stig's excellent service and unorthodox approach to fixing cars, Malton citizen's also had Upham's Adverts stuck in there heads from 2001 until the outbreak. The Ad was known as the "Kennedy and Stiggy baby! song" which had a tune similar to Colonel Bogey's March.

From this point forward this Auto Repair Shop was well known throughout Malton and definitely respected outside of Shearbank.

Pre September 2007

Since the Zed outbreak in Malton, Upham Auto's has been through both prosperous and troubling times. In the Fall of 2005, political events in the suburb forced the owners to abandon the property and relocate. Fortunately, for Kennedy and Stig the shop was cared for by the few brave enough to remain that remembered growing up watching all of the classic cars roll out of the garage.

In the Summer of 2006, it was untouched by Zombie's but since August 2007, Zed hordes sweeping through Shearbank and other Malton areas have left the surrounding area's and the Auto Shop itself mostly in ruins. A phantom caretaker, perhaps a former employee, has been seen returning to the shop regularly maintaining barricades and cleaning up corpses.

Over the last few years, Kennedy has retired and no one knows the whereabouts of Stig, but as a touching tribute to their former glory days Upham Auto shines a single spotlight from the front office made out of a 1972 Chevy Nova SS tail light, the first car Kennedy and Stig rebuilt when they opened.
