I woke up this morning to gunfire... It's always gunfire... WHY DO PEOPLE ALWAYS USE THOSE DAMN WEAPONS TO FIX THE PROBLEMS!!
This city is a hellhole these days. Hell, if it wasn't for my buds over at Caiger I wouldn't have even seen the light of day through living eyes.
I remember the old days... before all this started. I was a hotshot teen, just out of highschool, and looking for adventure. I'd lived it up, and was... more than a bit... in trouble with a few groups. So I hopped up and went to join the Marines... and everything spiraled away from there. I was shipped off to Vietnam for the next... well if I was listening to myself I'd say thousand years... there I thought I'd seen death. I'd seen my best friend fall under a misdirected spray of Napalm, I'd seen others die from bullets flying from those you'd never see. And. I'd. killed. civilians...
And so I stopped caring. I moved completely. I married. I had children [At this point the page is smeared by tears]
So I got a job at Ackland mall as a security guard. Sounds like a good time. Got to try to make a difference in the world. Got to try to help. I should have known better... I'd settled in the happy town of Malton.
I killed my wife today. She was one of the first zombies taken out in the siege, and she tried to kill me. THE DAMN NECROTECHS JUST INCINERATED HER CORPSE. All I could do was watch and weep, so I did. My children, who were both nearly teens, committed suicide, destroying their brains in order to stop themselves from becoming zombies. I puked coming home. The outbreak wasn't even declared critical yet. So I left it all behind, and started running. Running as fast as I could. Nothing but me, my service revolver, and one clip of ammo. I failed.
I kept fighting back, and I kept dying, and then living again...
Then I made it to Caiger. I'd heard whispers, but I did not realize the true power. It was a stronghold.
I got there during the Second Siege, and I survived it. Hell, I even managed to loot a razor. And I've had a shower, cut hair... I look respectable again...
I am a bitter cold hearted 45 year old 'Nam vet... but I am also the one who will defend Malton to the death.
I go to sleep at night... to the sound of zombie groans... it's worse than the gunfire.
