About Me

Howdy!

I'm just an Urban Dead player who made a point of experiencing and delighting in as many aspects of the game as possible during his time here. I enjoyed having characters who led separate lives in some of the premier groups in Malton, created userscripts to enhance the game for myself and others, led or participated in a rather large number of in-game events of varying historical significance, wrote a handful of guides, and have gotten around the wiki quite a bit, first as a regular user, then as a sysop and bureaucrat.

Otherwise, I'm just a married software developer who lives in the Bryan/College Station region of Texas, USA, though I previously lived on the Pacific, Atlantic, and Gulf coasts of America, so I'm used to lots of sun and beaches. Despite living exclusively in Southern states, I never grew up surrounded by Southern culture, so Texas' take on Southern culture is something I've had to get used to. The place I'm living now is the furthest inland (140 miles/225 km), most elevated (360 feet/110 m), coldest (snow every few years), and hottest (weeks of highs over 105°F/40°C each summer) place I've ever lived.

I graduated from Texas A&M University, worked in the space industry, operated sound systems for live events for a few decades, did a stint in grad school, and assisted in teaching thousands of students subjects ranging from FORTRAN to ethics, though not all necessarily in that order. These days, my work has me leading teams of developers as we create custom-built apps for engineering firms.

I'm a Christian that holds pretty traditional and conservative values, but unless you ask me about it, this is probably about the only time you'll see me bring it up, just because religion isn't a topic that most people want to discuss while playing a zombie game. That said, if it's something that you have questions about, feel free to ask. I'll do my best to answer.

-I'm an Urban Dead player who first joined the game on August 15th, 2009. Since then, I've made a point of trying to enjoy as many aspects of the game and its community as possible. Towards that end, I've written {{/snazzylink|User:Aichon/Userscripts|userscripts}}, have led or helped to lead some of the top groups during my time, and have generally engaged in the wiki community {{/snazzylink|User:Aichon/Other#Contributions|quite a bit}}. This is the first wiki that I've really gotten involved with, so if you see me making stupid mistakes, clue me in, since I'm still learning. Despite that, on March 26, 2010, the community saw fit to make me a sysop, but when my term was up, I asked for a demotion rather than an additional term as sysop, and was restored to the life of a regular user on November 25, 2010. Though inactive for most of 2011, I became active again in 2012.
-In terms of the game, I wanted to experience everything it had to offer, so as you can see by the character list, I have characters in some of the premiere groups of Malton. They all lead separate existences, and a few of them actively fight against the efforts of the others, though they've never met or even gotten close to each other (nor will they ''ever'' do so). Oh, and since they're all separate characters, please treat them as such. Just because my PKer may have ruined your day today doesn't mean that my survivor won't be coming in afterwards to help you patch things together.

I've interned with various subcontractors for NASA (e.g. Lockheed Martin), and did a stint for four years as a Teaching Assistant at Texas A&M while in grad school, where I had the privilege of assisting the professors in teaching over 2300 students in numerous programming languages and over a variety of subjects.
-To cut off the obvious questions, no, I will not help you troubleshoot your computer, nor will I design your wiki page for you. I use and love my Macs because they let me get work done without having to worry about it not working or having to be configured for hours on end to work exactly how I want. As for design, while I like to think my userspace looks cool, it takes me way too long to make things ''not suck'', so I try to avoid it. That said, if you run into a technical issue and put in some serious effort trying to figure it out, I'm usually up for helping people get over those sorts of hurdles.
