Think of this as nothing but a blog in which I, Axe Hack, rants about stuff relating to Urban Dead.

There will be a new ranting every Tuesdays and Fridays (or at least almost every Tuesdays and Fridays. It's basically every Tuesdays and Fridays whenever I have time).

Axe Hack Rants 1

Hey there, folks. I'm starting a new segment here, which I'll dub as "Axe Hack Rants". It's a segment in which I rant about different aspects of Urban Dead. Think of this as a blog, I guess.

For this first rant, it's something that's been in my mind for a few days. Philosophe Knights. Now I don't mean to bash on them or anything, but somehow I can't help but think that the Philosophe Knights were definitely a lot more sophisticated during generations one, two, and three of UD, with a generation counting as a year (2005 being generation one, and 2011 being generation six, and so forth).

To my knowledge, the Philosophe Knights are a PKer group that revolves around philosophical views. Philosophy is derived from the Greek words "philo" and "sophia". "Philo" means "love" and "sophia" means "wisdom" or "knowledge", therefore philosophy ultimately means the "love of wisdom/knowledge". The Philosophe Knights definitely show their love of knowledge, with their ever so popular catchphrase, "Praise knowledge." But somehow, I'm interested in knowing...Does the Philosophe Knights of generation six really know what knowledge is? Let's find out...

For any Knights reading this, go to my main userpage. Do you see the sidebar on the left (←)? Where it says "E-mail this user" on my main userpage? Send me, Axe Hack, an email answering this question: "What is knowledge?" For any non-Knights reading this segment, feel free to answer my question as well. If you don't have an e-mail address linked to your wiki account, consider the alternate option. Send me a PM through one of the numerous UD forums I am on, with "Rants" in the subject line. A complete list of UD forums I frequently browse through (not counting the ones in which I've haven't checked into in a month or two) can be located on the talk page. I'll be posting your answers in my next segment on Tuesday. Only your answers will appear in the next segment. You will remain anonymous. The only one who will know who sent which answers will be me.

So...That's it for this first segment. In my next segment, besides viewing whatever answers everyone may give regarding knowledge, I will be ranting about Rogues Gallery. This is Axe Hack, and I'm done ranting today. Until next time, Malton. Peace out.

EDIT: Confusion arises, so let me be more clear, Knights. I'm not looking for the definition of the word "knowledge". I am actually looking for the Knights' own personal opinions on what they consider knowledge to be. Hopes this clears up the confusion. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 22:17, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Not trying to hijack your edit here, but any chance to tell the truth about the Philosophe Knights is a chance best taken. These guys aren't about knowledge. They aren't about intelligence. They aren't even really PKers. They are GRIEFERS. For instance, the PKnight golam: [[1]]. The guy has single handedly been griefing TZH for months. Having played this game I know the difference between someone who runs through Malton as a PKer. Their groups have agendas, or they are just trying to collect tags/run up a bounty. But the Knights are different. Their intention is to try and grief people out of the game. Golam has specifically targeted newer members of TZH, in the hopes of getting them to quit the game. He has killed, and I am not kidding, well over 50 times. Thats 50 PKs against one group, and often against the same people. The members of TZH will randomly put golam down if seen, but no one is hunting him, and for the large part he is ignored. Why? Because he specifically isn't a PKer. Hunting PKers is fun. Going to war with a PKer group can be interesting. But hunting griefers is like feeding the trolls. Which is really what griefers are: trolls. And you shouldn't feed the trolls. The Philosophe Knights were never a fantastic group IMO. But at least in their first generations they had an interesting idea. Now? Just trolls. --Dhavid Grohl 15:21, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Axe Hack Rants 2

Hey hey, world. It's Axe Hack back with another rant after a bit over five months. This rant is coming roughly about seven hours late, since it is technically Wednesday in UD time, but honestly. Who gives a fuck? Today's topic is the Rogues Gallery. But first, let's take a look at what some of the folks had to say about the question in my previous rant.

"What is knowledge?"

Sadly, the main group the question was aimed at, the Philosophe Knights, have refused to answer the question.

As for the unwanted answer left by Team Zombie Hardcore...You guys lack the proper intelligence required to see that my segment is suppose to be one of a friendly, intelligent discussion, not a place for your whining. Now get the fuck off my page.

Now on to today's topic!

The Rogues Gallery, as we all know, was a tool first created to punish PKers. It isn't prefect, especially with a few various loopholes one can exploit to bypass their rules, such as submitting a screenshot without a timestamp. It was one of the most widely accepted tools back in the days. But that isn't the case anymore.

So why is the Rogues Gallery barely hanging on by a thread? Is it because it's nothing more than a PKer's leaderboard? Or perhaps its because pro-survivors feel cheated that they got reported by a PKer without a bounty?

For all we know, it could be the faults of the BHer side, most of which who refuse to report any PKers that kill them. But why would they not report any PKers that kill them? Reporting them would help keep the Rogues Gallery cling onto that thread it is desperately clinging onto at the moment. Some of them claim most PKers are self-reporters, or those who report their own kills, and as such, the BHer side has no need to keep Rogues Gallery alive. But what about the dozen of other PKers who aren't self reporters?

In my opinion, I think most BHers don't report because they feel embarrassed of dying to a PKer. Well, I have news for you people! Urban Dead is a game! Unlike the permadeath cities of Monroeville and Borehamwood, there is no penalty for dying in Malton. So what if they made you spend a few extra AP looking for a revive? That PKer probably had to spend a good load of their supplies as well. But this is just my opinion, and that's a subject matter for another time.

Continuing on...

There are many loopholes in the Rogues Gallery's policies.

Here's an example: We all know Rogues Gallery works in cooperation with the Zerg List, which is hosted on Resensitized. But many zergs are able to slip in a few reports on Rogues Gallery before the mods over at Resenz can update the Zerg List. Why is this? It's because the Rogue Gallery mods usually don't check if there are any ongoing reports made against that particular character. The proper procedure, in my opinion, would be to put the reports in question on hold, and wait for Resenz to look at and validate the evidence of zerging. But, this method would almost never see use since Resenz does not update the Zerg List on a daily basis, as the mods of Rogues Gallery usually tries to do.

Another loophole that probably does see abuse is Rogues Gallery allowing the submission of screenshots without timestamps. Rogues Gallery has a two week deadline to submit reports, but if a screenshot doesn't have a timestamp, how does one determine whether or not the reports aren't past the deadline already?

So here's my question for all you readers today.

"Is the Rogues Gallery even still worth using today, and why or why not? If there can be anything changed with Rogues Gallery, what would it be?"

Send me your answers either through email (there is an Email This User link in the sidebar if you go to my userpage), PM me on one of the forums listed on this page's talk page, or just leave a message on the talk page. Do note, if you send a response via a method other than this page's talk page, your identity will remain confidential.

The next time I'll ramble on about the metagame. And I promise you won't wait another five months for it. Axe Hack, out.
