Alphabetizing

Hola - is "the" not included in the ordering as the group specifically use this to refer to themselves? Like, "The Flowers of Decay", not just "Flowers of Decay". --Ash  ^{|  T  |  яя  |} 11:35, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

Yep! As far as I know, there's no alphabetization standard in which articles ("The", "A" or "An") count as part of a name or title for alphabetization purposes. Bob Moncrief ^EBD•W! 15:43, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

Yep, this is why in a lot of alphabetizing you’ll even see them make it more obvious by moving the “The” to the end, like “Flowers of Decay, The”. —Aichon— 00:32, 26 December 2017 (UTC)

Building Danger Reports : Methods

Hey, sorry to keep bugging you, but I'd like to ask you a question concerning updating danger reports. As you know, external military reports often have pseudo building reports in them, and would it be valid to update the building report based off these reports alone? In which case, what would be the corresponding danger levels for the various reports? I was thinking "safe" for any survivor positive reports and "ruined" for any survivor negative reports. Well, maybe some of the survivor negative reports would be "in zombie hands" because I think there might be a report that goes along the lines of well... "in zombie hands". Let me know because I want to help contribute to keeping major building reports as recent as possible, without sacrificing accuracy too much or having a lot of alts. Thanks for your time. Since it's usually an NT or a mall that appears in those reports, I know Bob updates those particular building statuses based on the EMR. So using the EMRs to update any building listed in them is totally fine! I am sure Bob will agree, and probably give you more of an idea as to how he uses the EMR to update the buildings. Totally! I actually cover this in the instructions I wrote on updating DangerReports for the MDU — see item 7 here. I generally use the EMRs to update buildings unless there's been an on-site update that's less than a week or so old. Bob Moncrief ^EBD•W! 18:28, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

Just another Wednesday on UDWiki

Nobody killed the wiki, but the drama level was appropriately upgraded for the first time in years. It's been a very busy month. A load of A/VB cases, dozens of vandal accounts, someone threatening to rape my (long-since deceased) dog, Historical Group drama, a bomb threat, and even, briefly, a Misconduct case against me. Edit Speed

Hey Desert Roamer, your edits should be instantaneous. Sometimes if high-traffic pages are edited they may take a minute or so. But nothing short of "practically" instant. THE CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER 11:20, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

There's also a layer of "percolation". If you edit e.g. a suburb DangerStatus, it can take one to ten minutes for it to change the actual map on the Suburb page, for example, depending on the length of the job queue. Bob Moncrief ^EBD•W! 16:06, 9 November 2018 (UTC)

Update suburb danger level

Yup, it can take a few minutes for changes on one page to propagate to other pages. If you want to speed things along, there is a trick you can do: go to the page you want to see updated (e.g. City Map), edit it, and then save it without making any changes. Doing so won't actually change the page's content at all, but it will force that page to refresh any content that it gets from elsewhere. ;) —Aichon— 20:16, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome. I did have one question as I'm new to editing wiki. Is there a delay between updating the status on the User:DangerReport/LOCATION pages and the actual status on the main location page showing the update? I updated two danger reports yesterday and I ended up dumping my cache for the last 24 hrs to see if it would show the updates on the main as they weren't showing any immediate difference. It shows on one now, but not the other page. Sidicious (talk) 19:08, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
