I'm one of a few individuals responsible for the original, unofficial Urban Dead wiki generously hosted by MonkeyFilter, as well as the mildly useful Combat Calculator. I've been playing since mid-July, 2005.

MonkeyFilter Wiki

The MonkeyFilter Urban Dead wiki was put up August 5th, 2005, and, as far as I can tell, was the first organized attempt on the internet at documenting everything you needed to know about the game. However, with this official wiki duplicating and expanding on everything there, there's very little need to keep updating it anymore these days, though it always amuses me to hear it being mentioned in game or online somewhere. In it's heyday, it was the #2 hit for "urban dead" on Google.

Combat Calculator

The Urban Dead Combat Calculator is a Javascript tool I've put together that will give you your odds of attacking based on what combat skills you possess, your AP and HP, your opponent's HP, and whether or not they have a Flak Jacket. Ideally, it would be either a FireFox extension or Greasemonkey script working unnoticeably in the background, but that's still a little off in the future.

According to its gVisit stats, it usually gets between two and four hits an hour mostly from the USA, but I've seen other places around the world, including: Australia, Canada, China, England, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Guam, Holland, Limburg, Malaysia, Norway, Scotland, Sweden, Tel Avi, and Wales, which is enough interest to keep me occasionally updating and improving it, but not enough to crash my server. It also makes me wonder what Kevan's referrer logs and billing invoice look like.

Any bugs, comments, questions, or suggestions for the UDCC should go on my talk page.

Characters

I currently have five characters that I occasionally play with, each scattered about the city: a firefighter, a zombie-consumer, a cop, and a second undead consumer of material goods and human flesh, and an unlisted corpse.

Character: Dayfat

Character class: Firefighter
Favorite equipment: Shotgun
Character profile: Urban Dead profile
Current status: Alive
Character group: None
Character stats: Unknown
Journal: There is no journal for Dayfat

Currently based out of Northeast Malton, my namesake is a former volunteer-firefighter turned zombie-hunting member of PARA. I'm by no means a very active member in that I generally skip out on the morning meetings unless a large horde is rumbling about or someone has brought donuts. Instead, I usually spend my time out patrolling the suburb, maintaining and repairing collapsing barricades, and healing wounded survivors.

Once, during a very brief and minor skirmish, I was 15 HP away from giving the minorly infamous Mort Vivant his first headshot before he cowardly fled. He later remarked, "if you are the one who sent Dayfat on my tail, you can congratulate him on some fine shooting, he got real close this time." Dayfat has been killed four times, once during the first MetaFilter linking, and has 44 headshots to his credit.

Character: George Stapleton

Character class: Consumer
Favorite equipment: Pistol
Character profile: Urban Dead profile
Current status: Dead
Character group: None
Character stats: Unknown

George Stapleton was my second character, a civilian created after failing to find a single zombie with Dayfat. Unimpressed by Bargain Hunting (then called Shopping) and the nonfunctional cell phone, I decided to jump off a building and start terrorizing Malton's Yagoton survivors. It was the golden age of zombies, when there were no barricades, no headshots, no standing up penalty. All zombies could move as fast as any human. People would stand around in the streets and the few inside would rarely close the doors. Leveling up was easy then, and I quickly earned all the zombie skills. George has been since revived, earned all the current human skills, wandered the map helping out those in need against his former undead brethren, and has since been killed again. Currently, he's been spending his time in Old Arkham.

Since I started keeping track halfway through his original lifespan as a zombie, George has eaten at least 19 survivors, though most likely 5 or so more. As a survivor himself, he has killed 25 zombies and 1 PKer.

Character: Solomon Brodsky

Favorite equipment: Shotgun

Solomon Brodsky is a SWAT member of Malton's police force, originally from Stanbury Village. I found leveling him up to be a slow process at first, spending a lot of time searching for ammo. For his first month, he was exclusively based out of Bunney Street PD (though unaffiliated with the BSPF), leaving only to clear the surrounding streets of the undead. After being randomly attacked by a survivor, I decided to investigate Nichols Mall. There, he was PKed by yet another civilian in his sleep. For a brief time he wandered the city undead himself. His secret shame is that, while in this state, he killed and ate one of the populace he swore to protect before he was randomly revived by a NecroTech employee. Solomon has 13 confirmed kills, plus an additional 42 headshots.

Character: Ben Fields

Character class: Consumer
Favorite equipment: Death Grip
Character profile: Urban Dead profile
Current status: Brain Rotten
Character group: None
Character stats: Unknown

Ben Fields was my second attempt at a Consumer character, created to help gather facts for the MonkeyFilter wiki. He was killed about halfway through my tagging run of the city, and hasn't really recovered since developing a case of the brain rot. While wandering about the city on his undead legs, he's eaten 23 citizens.
