The Plan

I'm part of the April 2007 Quartly Study Group Museum Tour - cataloguing museum contents for all of Malton's museums. We're accumulating our results in the List of Museums. See Buddhagazelle's museum tour page for more general details on The Plan.  :-)

I'm taking the north-west quadrant, from Raines Hills to Dentonside (Lilandryl is doing the top row).

So that's:

We're co-ordinating by mobile phone. The other tour members are Dr. Kimba (phone co-ordination at Quartly), Ryan, Zeke, Lilandryl, buddhagazelle and Ezekiel Jones III (in charge?).

The Journal

18 April, 2007

I had to swing by the mall to find a mobile phone, then headed up towards Pimbank, where I'll start searching tomorrow.

19 April, 2007

Started with The Pretty Museum,Pimbank. African glassware. Spent 25 AP searching - various bits of glassware, on the whole. Cool.

Then on to The Gillman Museum, Pimbank. Conceptual paintings. One zed present who I had to off before I could search (place was ransacked). 19 AP searching here so far (all just conceptual paintings!) - will complete and move on tomorrow. Next stop is The Nuttall Museum, Pimbank.

20 April, 2007

Finished in the Gillman museum (didn't learn any more), then headed west to Nuttall. Stuffed animals!

21 April, 2007

Heading north to Randallbank: Cocker Museum then Heddington.

Cocker has African art. 25 AP searching yields finds: seven African paintings, two fire-damaged painting, two torn paintings.

Made it to Heddington, "its exhibition of pottery now thick with dust" but spent last APs on closing doors, repairing damage, and cading. Will sit tight in Gouch library (seems defended) til tomorrow when I'll get searching.

22 April, 2007

Wake up in Gouch, back to Heddington for some searching. 25 AP yields 1 x terracotta statue, 3 x cremation urn, Ming vase, 2 x earthenware vase. Now heading north to Organ Museum in Huntley Heights; resting in Manly Motel, Roachtown, since the lights were on. Looks like a fairly dangerous area...

23 April, 2007

Woke safe, on to Organ... "its collection of African sculpture now thick with dust.". 25 AP yields 3 x African sculpture, cracked sculpture. On to Swears Museum, a mere 2AP away. Eek, it's wide open; is there somewhere safer to rest nearby? Ingham hotel is heavily barricaded, we'll give it a try...

Later, nipped into Swears, which had in the meantime been secured. Fascinated by "its exhibition of scientific history now thick with dust." but alas 25 AP of searching yielded not one bit of booty. Sad. Back to Ingham hotel to sleep, then tommorow right next door is the Hippisley Museum. Sweet.

24 April, 2007

Ingham seems a good place to rest/hide - still no break ins! I take a short hoppity skip up to the delightfully named Hippisley Museum, "its collection of impressionist sculpture ransacked by looters.". 37-25=12, yielding 3 impressionist sculptures. Back to Ingham to rest up before hitting the Hanson Museum, tomorrow.

25 April, 2007

Good night's sleep in Ingham, awoke full of beans and raring to go. Through Hippisley to the Hanson Museum, alas not full of Hanson exhibits, "its collection of conceptual paintings now thick with dust." 25 AP searching yielded 4 conceptual paintings and one fire damaged painting. A quick phone home and then I'll head north to the Dudridge Museum in Raines Hills. Hid out in the library next door (alas, no literates, just refugees from a nearby NT). We have "its collection of work by conceptual artists now thick with dust.". 28-3->25 yields 7 conceptual paintings and 1 fire-damaged painting. Will rest here, it's barricaded and quiet, and press on the tomorrow.

26 April, 2007

Right, time for the Hasell Museum. Oh goody, more "its collection of conceptual paintings now thick with dust." 27-25->2 AP yields 8 conceptual paintings, 1 torn painting, 1 fire-damaged painting. Pooped now, so more resting before heading northeast to the Peete Museum in Pashenton. Woo. Later, staggered up to the Peete Museum, with "its extensive collection of stuffed animals now thick with dust." Ah, stuffed animals. No point searching any here, I think. Only 4 AP to get to the Carew Museum, next stop, but not just yet... Later that night, hopped over to Carew to sleep. It's heavily barricaded, with a couple of survivors.

27 April, 2007

Woke in Carew to find the doors wide open and a couple of zed friends in the building - plus some survivors, still. Place hasn't been ransacked, so I'm just gonna search and move on. I'm concentrating on the mission. Carew, "its exhibition of tapestries ransacked by looters." 29->4 yields a dark tapestry, 2 faded tapestries, 3 mouldering tapestries, a French tapestry. Next stop is the Lentill Museum, but sleeping in the delightfully named Mist Library on the way there...

28 April, 2007

Woke safe and sound in Mist, and scampered over to Lentill, "its collection of work by abstract artists now thick with dust.". 43-25->18 yields 4 abstract paintings and 1 fire-damaged painting. I trot onwards to Pescodside, blessed with six museums, and end up in the (tee hee) Backholer Museum, "its extensive collection of skeletons now thick with dust." - sweet, skeletons!

29 April, 2007

Woke safe in Backholer, time for some searching! 50->25 yields a skull, 2 fish skeletons, a human skeleton, and a bird skeleton. Right next door we have the Sunderland Museum, "its collection of work by conceptual artists now thick with dust.". We find 2 torn paintings and 3 conceptual paintings.

30 April, 2007

Now to the Jewell Museum, "its selection of contemporary art now thick with dust.". 35->10 yields 7 contemporary paintings and 1 fire-damaged painting. Woo! Hey, Lilandryl is here in Jewell. Think I'll stick around for a bit and chat rather than hopping on to the Petvin.

Hmmm, we might split the duties up...

You say "s/Roywood/Roftwood/ obviously. :) I was gonna go: You wanna take Rolt Heights, Gibsonton, Heytown, Roftwood? I take Dunningwood, Paynterton, Starlington, Dentonside, Pegton, Edgecombe? (You could do Edgecombe too? I'm going quite slow.)"

2nd May, 2007

Wasted yesterday hanging around waiting for Lilandryl to talk to me, to no avail, so I'm just continuing with my original plan. So today it's the Petvin Museum, "its unusual exhibition of African glassware now thick with dust." 50->25 yields 3 glass bowls, 2 glass vases, a glass statue, a glass table.

3rd May, 2007

The Keats Museum, "its selection of contemporary art now thick with dust." How boring. 25 AP searching yields 3 contemporary paintings, a torn painting, 2 fire-damaged paintings. Then, last in Pescodside, The Margetts Museum, "its extensive collection of stuffed animals now thick with dust." 25 AP searching yielded: 2 stuffed tiger heads and 4 stuffed eagles.

4th May, 2007

Woke in Odile, free ran to the Halberry Museum, "its selection of contemporary art now thick with dust". 41->16 25 AP searching yielded: 1 contemprorary painting and 4 torn paintings.

6th May, 2007

Peerless, in Gibsonton, "its collection of European paintings now thick with dust." 25 AP searching yeilded: 6 European paintings and 1 torn painting.

The Vick Museum, Gibsonton, "its selection of European art now thick with dust." 25 AP searching yielded: 7 European paintings.

8th May, 2007

The Henson Museum, Gibsonton, "its collection of conceptual paintings now thick with dust." Then, since that's so boring, the Chanter Museum, Gibsonton, "its collection of cubist sculpture ransacked by looters." 25 AP searching yielded: 6 cubist sculptures.

9th May, 2007

The Syms Museum, Heytown, "its installation by a cubist artist now thick with dust." 25 AP searching yielded: 6 cubist sculptures. Then the Bowles Museum, "its exhibition of tapestries ransacked by looters." 25 AP searching yielded: 2 dark tapestries, 3 faded tapestries, 1 mouldering tapestry, 1 French tapestry, 1 Greek tapestry.

10th May, 2007

The Silcox Museum, Spracklingbank, "its exhibition of scientific history now thick with dust." 25 AP searching yielded: nothing! Then the Mackworth Museum, "its unusual exhibition of African glassware now thick with dust." 25 AP searching yielded: 3 glass globes, 2 glass bowls, 3 glass tables, 3 glass vases.

24th May, 2007

After an extended sleep, I find myself in The Burne Motel, Gibsonton. Hmmm, need to head to Heytown to pick up Tudgay and Craske. OK, make it to The Tudgay Museum, "its selection of European art now thick with dust." 25 AP searching yielded: 4 European paintings, 1 torn painting. Thence to the Craske Museum, "its selection of African art ransacked by looters." Will search later.
