Introduction
The Suggestions section of the Wiki has always held some amount of interest for me. I enjoy seeing what kind of changes are in store for the game, as well as being party to the process by which they are voted upon for implementation. Now, many of the suggestions that go though the main page are voted to Undecided or Peer Rejected: some have begun to speculate that there are people that want UD to stay more or less the same. Regardless of the truthiness of such a statement, there are others that are voted to Peer Reviewed as well: some wonder whether it was deserving or not.
However, that isn't what this page is about - as I doubt that one can really look upon how suggestions should be voted upon objectively (in fact, the system itself is subjective simply by allowing a vote).
No, this page is about the distrubing trend regarding who is submitting the majority of suggestions. While a certain zeal for creativity or ideas shouldn't be frowned upon, there is some limit to when the zeal becomes spam. Currently, the rule for suggestions is this: one per day. While this does set a hard and fast limit, the spirit of the rule (I believe) is being circumvented. Currently, the rule is:
"Each author should not make more than one suggestion per day (i.e. in a 24 hour period beginning at 00:01 BST). This limit does not include suggestions which the author has removed for the purpose of revision. Suggestions may be revised once per day at most. Suggestions must be removed prior to revisions being posted. Frequent removal of suggestions to avoid having them spaminated is considered abuse of the system. Removal of suggestions in order to post non-revision suggestions the same day is also considered abuse of the system." [emphasis added]
The first emphasis is the rule as it stands - an author may remove a suggestion for revision and place another suggestion in it's stead. The second emphasis is the current understanding of abuse - however one must wonder how or if this rule is even being enforced.
The Information
Currently, the information gathered here goes back to October 9th - and will be further updated in order to provide at least a full month view of who submits suggestions. This information is not gathered to point fingers, but simply to see where the majority of suggestions currently come from. Any analysis of the inforamtion will occur after at least one month worth of data has been gathered.
