Banning of Users

Final version? It has my ok. –Xoid STFU! 06:14, 31 July 2006 (BST)

Shall one of us post it, or let Matthew, or let him sign off first? –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 06:19, 31 July 2006 (BST)
Since we've all had our part in this, why not give the 'honour' of posting it to the guy who started this discussion. Let Matthew sign off on it first, and be sure to give us a mention. ;-) –Xoid STFU! 06:26, 31 July 2006 (BST)
And gold in the basket, of course. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 08:12, 31 July 2006 (BST)
Wait a second, you just want me to take the flak, huh! Bastard! –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 08:13, 31 July 2006 (BST)
Damn! You've seen through my evil ploy. Whatever, let a non mod submit it. Perhaps people will see that it's not only us that feel we should have some actual power. –Xoid STFU! 08:27, 31 July 2006 (BST)
Agreed. We'll let poor Matthew take the heat praise. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 08:32, 31 July 2006 (BST)

Alright. Once again: are we done? I don't want to re-read through that myriad of text. If we are not done, is there some way you can delineate the entirety of the policy itself from the rest? It's rather tedious to see where it starts and where it ends. –Xoid STFU! 03:40, 7 August 2006 (BST)

I think we're done. Pretty much, we thought that the other couple of changes should happen in other policy changes, so that they're not just part of the banning procedures. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 03:49, 7 August 2006 (BST)
Then we still let Matthew submit it and take the blame credit? –Xoid STFU! 03:53, 7 August 2006 (BST)
Sounds good to me. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 05:04, 7 August 2006 (BST)
Hey, I didn't know this thing had a talk page. For what I can read here, you guys are scaring me =S. Anyways, if you want me to present this on M/PD, then I think this is the way:
  1. Copy our whole discussion of the "Banning of users" guideline's header into some page (like User:Matthewfarenheit/Sandbox/Warning and Banning guidelines rework) to avoid confusion.
  2. Present it with a link to the copy of the discussion we had.
  3. Of course, give most of the flak credit to you guys =)
But there's a problem: I was counting (maybe foolishly, because to do it wuold put in a lot more of risk the policy change) that we were going to present only one policy change that included a whole Guidelines text rework. Because of this, and as I said before, the slab of text that includes the right to make judgement calls that Bob made isn't included on the "Warning and Banning of Users" header because it was supposed to be a general guideline to be included on the introduction text itself of the Guidelines. How can I introduce that change? including it on the "Warning and Banning of Users" header, giving the wrong impression that it's only valid there? presenting the policy change with the whole text of the Guidelines, but only changing the "Banning of Users" section and adding that text on the beggining of the page? please comment because to make that decision by myself and screwing up all our hard work because of that wuold be really stupid. --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC | T | W! 05:14, 7 August 2006 (BST)
Solution: we work double-time and revise the whole damn thing. I'll break the page into pieces now. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 21:16, 8 August 2006 (BST)
Call me masochist, but I must confess that that was my favourite choice =D --Matthew Fahrenheit YRC | T | W! 21:20, 8 August 2006 (BST)
