Y u no sysop?

Get to self-nominating slacker. --KCLZA 21:28, 21 August 2015 (UTC)

I'm delaying til after this weekend due to friends being in town. Hopefully Monday I'll have time to compose an appropriately pithy "pls let me back" statement. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 21:53, 21 August 2015 (UTC)

Code help

Bob, would you mind taking a look at one of my templates I am using for award badges over at 15A? I want to make sure I am doing the categorization correctly at the end of the code. Is there a better category I should put it under?

Example page: Template:15A_10Kill

Thank you! - ШəəϨо ϨоЯЯλ (talk) 19:04, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Looks ok to me! You might want to make sure that other 15A pages go into the 15A category, but other than that looks good. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 19:07, 27 August 2015 (UTC)
Awesome. Thanks. - ШəəϨо ϨоЯЯλ (talk) 19:38, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Hey Bob. I was wondering what you could tell me about 'Parser profiling data' and how it is used on this wiki. Thanks a lot in advance. -Old Jack Burton (talk) 00:42, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

I'm not the most technical, but as far as I know there aren't any parser functions on the wiki. Of course, a software update occurred while I was out, so there might be. Does a more tech-sided sop know more? Bob Moncrief EBDW! 01:45, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

Question

Good Evening Again Bob, Ok few questions, but before I start could you reply on my user page instead. That way it won't clog up your page, and I've have it on mine for continued review. First, I know I am allowed to make other pages for RP usage, so just confirming this?

Also, is there a way for me to add multiple pages to my current username, or do I have to make a new username for each page and inform that they are linked? The Jack Yocum (talk) 16:04, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

Responded on your talk page. Feel free to keep further responses there rather than here. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 17:06, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

Certainly! Bob Moncrief EBDW! 18:11, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

I appreciate it

I like what you're doing with the Railway Stations, as I had planned on giving them some sort of background info to make em a bit more interesting... (Especially since they wont give em any in game importance) but seeing as your mind is a little more suited to those kinds of things than mine (I couldn't imagine up a damned pizza if you gave me the ingredients) I'm glad you picked up the project for your own keep on rocking at everything you do User:Levi Romero 19:51, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

Thanks so much! I'm glad someone's appreciating it. Of course, most of what I'm doing is just a framework — assigning stations to lines — and I'm not touching most of the flavor (or lack thereof) on the individual articles. So if you have ideas, definitely implement them! Bob Moncrief EBDW! 19:54, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

Why?

In response to this edit, I believe the answer is that it used to be transcluded on the main discussion page for A/VB. I don't recall how it's done now (and obviously didn't just check), but the way we used to do it was to have individual talk pages transcluded at the bottom with a corresponding header, that way whenever discussion came up, people could just click the edit link, but they'd be editing a page that was effectively pre-archived so that we didn't need to move it around later. Made things simpler to maintain. Apparently there was no discussion that quarter, so it only had the header. Aichon 14:37, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

This is super weird, but I actually didn't click to edit that page. The header appeared on this page, right above the "General Discussion" first-level header. When I went to delete it, suddenly I was on a different page. I just undid it and it now shows up, because {{:UDWiki talk:Administration/Vandal Banning/Archive/2012 Q4}} was somehow transcluded onto the A/VB talk page. I've now undone that and hope things are appropriately de-mucked up. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 14:55, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

Also I'm now trying to archive the A/VB talk page and apparently mucking that up. Give me a couple minutes and hopefully it'll be sorted. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 15:00, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

OK that worked. Page transclusions are the bane of my existence. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 15:09, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, looks like it was a case of a transclusion in the wrong place. When a page with a heading is transcluded, clicking the edit link will take you straight to that page, like what you see with the Sysop List displayed on the A/RE page. Again, it made archiving of A/VB pages easier in the day, since everyone was posting directly to the archive page right from the start, but it also creates confusion occasionally, and back in the day, it also meant that you had to remember to watch the new page each month/quarter/whatever, or else discussions would take place without you. Aichon 15:18, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
Yeah I logically knew that, it just didn't click when I first edited. Hopefully now it will be less confusing for others in the future. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 15:22, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
Holy fuck it's been 7 years and I never realised that the transclusion on A/RE included the header. FFS, precious seconds wasted!--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 15:52, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
