===Hey Mr. Boxman!===
If you use Fire Fox 2 do you think you could look at [http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php?title=User:Suicidalangel&oldid=1315114 this] revision and tell me if Engel's character box is in the middle of the page, and not after a giant stretch of space? Last time I looked at my page, it was FF2, and it looked fine. I get FF3, and all of a sudden, the character box was pushed waaaaayyy down my page, for no reason. I made some changes to fix the way it looks here, but I'm just curious now.--[[User:Suicidalangel|<span style="color: DarkMagenta"> dǝǝɥs </span>]] <small><span style="color: Crimson">oʇ </span> [[User_talk:Suicidalangel|<span style="color: DarkGreen">ɯɐds:</span>]] [http://partyvan.info/index.php/Project_Chanology/Joining <span style="color: MidnightBlue">sʎɐʍ1ɐ!</span>]</small> 01:48, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

:I'm using FF3, and it's the same. Changing the table width to 65% (instead of 95%) fixed it for me. It's because your character table is too wide for what remains of the page when you take into account the sidebar with the templates on it, I think <small>-- [[User:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">boxy</span>]] [[User talk:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">talk</span>]] • [[The Rules|teh rulz]] 14:56 31 December 2008 (BST)</small>
::I know, but in FF2, which I used up until 2 days ago, I never had to change it, and it always looked fine. That's why I was wondering if it was an FF 3 thing, and I didn't want to have to down grade, check, and then upgrade again and find all my bookmarks and neat tid bits again.--[[User:Suicidalangel|<span style="color: DarkMagenta"> dǝǝɥs </span>]] <small><span style="color: Crimson">oʇ </span> [[User_talk:Suicidalangel|<span style="color: DarkGreen">ɯɐds:</span>]] [http://partyvan.info/index.php/Project_Chanology/Joining <span style="color: MidnightBlue">sʎɐʍ1ɐ!</span>]</small> 15:01, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

:::Firefox 3 probably has stricter standards support then Firefox 2 so it is possible that it would cause problems on some pages.--{{User:The General/sig}} 18:03, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
::::I figured as much when I first saw it, I just was wondering ''if anyone had FF 2 could tell me if that revision looked okay''. I'm not looking so much for a fix (Karek), or an explanation as to why (Monsieur Box), but more just a quick check up should anyone use FF2 still. But thank you all anyway. ===Great Fire ambiguity===
Hey as one of the wikizens around here that has a background with ALiM projects that goes back before the purge, we'd greatly appreciate if you went [[UDWiki:Administration/Arbitration#Cyberbob240_vs._2_Cool|here]] and testified. We are asking for witnesses who can confirm the fact that the page, [[Great Fire of 1912]] was indeed created by and largely moderated by myself and [[User:J3D]]. The task of claiming our creation over the page is complicated by the fact that no history is available to back up our claim due to the history purge. Thanks for you time.--{{User:Nallan/sig}} 08:12, 11 October 2008 (BST)

===Colloquialisms===
It is neutral tone, the nav bar really recognises the people who have put effort into making the page and linking to other relevant projects that might interest readers. cbf repeating, see cyberbobs talk.--{{User:J3D/ciggy}} 03:27, 11 October 2008 (BST)
:#The nav bar is [[Template:ALiMNav|ugly]] and intrusive,
:#The nav bar is bloody ugly and intrusive, and doesn't fit the overall style of general community pages,
:#If you want to make a [[Guide:Colloquialisms|guide]], and put it in the guide namespace, please try to make it look professional,
:#I'm getting real sick of the constant spam and cross-promoting being done by the [[2 Cool]] crew to get page hits up on their "''quality projects''".
:Just because your [[2 Cool|group]] helped make those pages, doesn't mean that you should be allowed to spam adverts to your group page, and other, often totally unrelated, pages you created <small>-- [[User:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">boxy</span>]] [[User talk:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">talk</span>]] • [[UDWiki:Image Categorisation|i]] 05:58 11 October 2008 (BST)</small>
::It's a guide for ''colloquialisms'', by it's very nature it is going to be somewhat unprofessional hence stuff like the picture and the text adds to the character of the page. I think the ALiMnav template is quite beautiful, it got a tad out of hand with the add for the ALiM party but since that is removed it's back to it's old beautiful self. We are thinking of redesigning it to make it more streamlined (wider and not so tall) but yeah, that won't be until november or so. --{{User:J3D/ciggy}} 06:08, 11 October 2008 (BST)

:::Willfully ignoring his point, by pretending to take his sarcasm at face value, doesn't change the fact that what you are doing with these pages you create is extremely petty. Demanding to be acknowledged, in such an obnoxious way, as the creator is pathetic. Look at the [[MIC]], Hagnat created that from scratch. The closest thing that I see to your garish navbar is a single category linking to [[:Category:Style Up!]].
:::MIC = Classy
:::ALiM = [http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php?title=UDWiki%3AAdministration%2FSpeedy_Deletions%2FArchive%2FOctober-2008&diff=1294396&oldid=1294395 Obnoxious] <small>-- [[User:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">boxy</span>]] <sup>[[User talk:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">talk</span>]] • [[The Rules|teh rulz]]</sup> 11:17 14 October 2008 (BST)</small>
::::There is one key difference here you are willfully ignoring, ALiM etc pages are fictional lulz, MIC etc are informative pages and are not the place for links to other stuff you've created. Unless of course the other stuff you've created is somehow relevant, in which case go for it! What we do is more comparable to groups listing their allies in a section of their page.--{{User:J3D/ciggy}} 11:29, 14 October 2008 (BST)
:::::What? Caiger Mall isn't just as fictional as the great fire? :P
:::::If you want to claim your pages as fictional, non-informative pages, then perhaps you should keep them totally separate from the "factual" side of the wiki, and not implant links to them into suburb, locations and other informative pages?
:::::And no, I don't expect you to do that, I just expect you to concede that there is no clear "fictional" "factual" divide, and that you are placing many of those pages into the community section of the wiki, regardless of the clearly humourous intent in a lot of them.
:::::The [[colloquialisms]] page (the topic under discussion, lolz) is clearly meant to be mostly an informative page, explaining abbreviations, btw. Extremely petty to remove it from the main namespace, and place it in your own private area simply to control it's styling so that you can keep your advertising banner on it.
:::::Perhaps I'll edit the redirect so that it has all the content, without obnoxious banner and group ownership problems? Good idea, wat? <small>-- [[User:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">boxy</span>]] <sup>[[User talk:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">talk</span>]] • [[The Rules|teh rulz]]</sup> 11:42 14 October 2008 (BST)</small>
::::::and waste kevan's precious server space?? I think not...--{{User:J3D/ciggy}} 11:55, 14 October 2008 (BST)
:::::if pages created by ALiM are ''fictional'' and owned by 2 Cool, then [[Template:Amusing Location|this template]] shouldn't have been added to all locations, as its merely advertising your group. There was a similar issue months ago with Dunell Hills Police Dept. overcategorization of buildings, and it was shot dead by The Dead (lol) and with the support of many sysops (myself included). ALiM should either turn into public domain, with a nice and unobtrusive template on its pages, or have all advertise of the ''group'' removed from building, suburb and other public domain pages. --[[User:Hagnat|People's Commissar Hagnat]] [[User talk:Hagnat|talk]] 14:14, 14 October 2008 (BST)

===Stuff I'm Thinking About===
I'm seriously contemplating moving barricade plans to group subpages, as it's where they should have been in the first place and will stop all this pointless bickering.--<small>[[User:Karek#K|Karek]]<font face="Monotype Corsiva">[[User:Karek/ProjDev/OmegaMap|maps?!]]</font></small> 05:52, 24 July 2008 (BST)
:Trouble with that solution is that it's usualy a collaborative effort between survivor groups/individuals, rather than each group in an area "owning" their own plan <small>-- [[User:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">boxy</span>]] [[User talk:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">talk</span>]] • [[UDWiki:Image Categorisation|i]] 10:02 24 July 2008 (BST)</small>
::UBP subpages for the ones that are UBP group "neutral".--<small>[[User:Karek#K|Karek]]<font face="Monotype Corsiva">[[User:Karek/ProjDev/OmegaMap|maps?!]]</font></small> 10:20, 24 July 2008 (BST)
:::I know we ''could'' fit them somewhere, I just don't feel that it is a good thing. They are usually a community resource, and even though they are survivor POV, they should remain as a community page if possible. I don't remember much drama coming from them before the Dunell Hills situation. The occasional dispute about whether a building should be an entry point, or EHB... but meh, that's what arbies is for <small>-- [[User:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">boxy</span>]] [[User talk:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">talk</span>]] • [[UDWiki:Image Categorisation|i]] 10:28 24 July 2008 (BST)</small>
::::This whole thing has gone so far out of proportion. I think the [[Santlerville]] model is the best. Survivor orientated cade plan on the page with the larger plan linked to and a zombie plan linked to from the bottom of the page, everyone's happy.--{{User:J3D/ciggy}} 10:31, 24 July 2008 (BST)
:::::Funny J3d, as a zombie minded player I've always found those plans to be more of an insult than most things on the wiki. --<small>[[User:Karek#K|Karek]]<font face="Monotype Corsiva">[[User:Karek/ProjDev/OmegaMap|maps?!]]</font></small>
::::::you talking about the actual cade plans or the zombie 'plans'? I find the zombie ones pretty shitty but if people want them there i figure they should be allowed to, despite the fact that serve no actual purpose...--{{User:J3D/ciggy}} 10:37, 24 July 2008 (BST)
:::::::The zombie ones. It's just an excuse to avoid addressing the actual issue.--<small>[[User:Karek#K|Karek]]<font face="Monotype Corsiva">[[User:Karek/ProjDev/OmegaMap|maps?!]]</font></small> 10:39, 24 July 2008 (BST)
::::::::I could see this becoming Wan's a/a case v2.0...the wiki is here to provide information to players, barricade plans (majority enforced ones) do that...while i can understand some people not liking them on the suburb page that should at the very least have a full sized heading explaining the purpose of the cade plan, the major local groups who endorse it and to what scale it is followed with a sizeable link to the actual cade plan because as much as you might not like them they are an important resource for survivor players.--{{User:J3D/ciggy}} 10:42, 24 July 2008 (BST)
:::::::::That's one of the great ironies about this, they aren't, the other one, of course, is that the same people that use them now will still use them if they're moved off of the suburb pages.--<small>[[User:Karek#K|Karek]]<font face="Monotype Corsiva">[[User:Karek/ProjDev/OmegaMap|maps?!]]</font></small> 11:07, 24 July 2008 (BST)
::::::::As a self confessed zombie player you aren't really the right person to judge whether or not cade plans are an important survivor resource. While i agree they are largely bullshit i use them when i'm out of town and need to find an ep, you'd be suprised how often the ep the cade plan points to is the one that is in use, regardless of whether or not i feel it is the most logical choice for an entry point to a resource building. Anyway as to your second point - i agree, so move them to a subpage of the suburb ''but'' keep them well linked so people can find them! If a suburb is having a tantrum then you can look into splitting them into 'group cade plans' or whatever but 99% suburbs don't need that.--{{User:J3D/ciggy}} 13:01, 24 July 2008 (BST)
:::::::::I'm a zombie player, not an idiot. That being said I have frequently participated in the survivor game for quite some time now, it's both how I started playing and how I ended playing, I classify myself as a zombie player not because I'm biased to their side but because I refuse to associate myself with the "survivor" mindset and I prefer the "zombie" metagame. And to refrain from using a segway I've already used; [[Talk:NPOV|I've had this discussion before]] and wasn't the only one who came to the conclusion,  99% of them aren't followed and never have been(I only know of one suburb that I could ever say consistently did).--<small>[[User:Karek#K|Karek]]<font face="Monotype Corsiva">[[User:Karek/ProjDev/OmegaMap|maps?!]]</font></small>

::::It's not "an occasional dispute" this has been going on for over 2 years now and it's because of the absurdly POV nature of them that contributes to the general POV nature of the suburb pages. They're group resources(I doubt you'd dispute that) it's idiotic for us to leave them on community pages, especially when they never should have been there in the first place. It's a major nuisance and one we should have solved long ago.--<small>[[User:Karek#K|Karek]]<font face="Monotype Corsiva">[[User:Karek/ProjDev/OmegaMap|maps?!]]</font></small> 10:33, 24 July 2008 (BST)
:::::I've no problem with them coming off the suburb pages. I'll help with that. But I don't think group sub-pages is the place for them. Suburbname Barricade Plan (as seen on [[:Category:Barricade Plans]]) would be the place I'd put them <small>-- [[User:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">boxy</span>]] [[User talk:Boxy|<span style="color: Red">talk</span>]] • [[UDWiki:Image Categorisation|i]] 10:37 24 July 2008 (BST)</small>

Thanks for the comments boxy. In answer to your questions.
*Yes. It will be time consuming, about 6 weeks worth in fact. But i reckon I can probably remove 30% of all groups. After which it will be less stressful, they've just never been properly done before.

Please ''stop'' adding them, read the page's talk page, a page with that purpose already exists and is where all current data on the matter is and has been going since the day of the update. So, with the suggestions. It says: ''Individual suggestion pages that were spamminated or removed from voting.'' Does that mean any page that has closed? Or just withdrawn and spamminated? Matts wording was: '' for spamminated or otherwise closed from voting suggestions''. So I suppose that qualifies for a schedueled protection, right? (And do I need to put the [[Template:Protect]]?) :It's actually significantly harder because of how you chose to do the tables. Try HTML or ordering them by columns, not rows. Then I'd bet <nowiki><div style="border-right:2px solid #000;"> would probably work if it surrounded the column. But the style code ''"border-right:2px solid #000;"'' Should do the trick giving you a 2 pixel solid black border on the right border of the column, If you do use HTML just add style="border-right:2px solid #000;" to the <TD></nowiki> tag.(you can see an example of how to do it on my ProjDev page, the map with the green background uses a similar code on a smaller scale.)--<small>[[User:Karek|Karek]]<font face="Monotype Corsiva">[[User:Karek/ProjDev/OmegaMap|maps?!]]</font></small> 01:41, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

===Suburb Template and NecroWatch===
Hello again Boxy. Sorry for turning your Talk page into a free-for-all discussion (below), as that was not my intent. As such, I have started this new topic just to clarify your recent suggestion. To confirm, you are suggesting that I edit the [[:Template:Suburb]] to include a link to NecroWatch (to the relevant suburb section) among the other links (i.e. iWitness, ect)? --[[User:Mobius187|Mobius187]] 19:59, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
:I'm not sure how you've set up your necrowatch system, but a link similar to those at the bottom of the suburb template, linking to where people can go to update the suburbs necrowatch page/s would be appropriate I would think. Does each suburb have a "NecroWatch/Dulston" (or similar) page? <small>-- [[User:Boxy|boxy]] [[User talk:Boxy|talk]] • [[UDWiki:Image Categorisation|i]] 00:35 31 December 2007 (BST)</small>
::[[NecroWatch]] follows a standard similar to the one already used by building status ([[NIC]]). The NecroWatch site acts as a central repository for all of the NT NecroWatch templates, while each individual NT location wikipage supports its own individual template (display only). The template information is stored as sub-pages of NTStatus, one for every NT wikipage location. It's this sub-page that the user updates and the changes are then displayed on the previously mentioned wikipages. The only potential I would see for including NecroWatch on a suburb wikipage would be as a link to the NecroWatch section pertaining to the NT facilities/scans for that suburb (something like this: [[NecroWatch/A_to_D#Dulston|Dulston]]). Obviously if a suburb had no such facilities no link would be required. What do you think? --[[User:Mobius187|Mobius187]] 02:10, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
:::Well that system wont work on the suburb template, I'm afraid, unless you make a redirect page for each suburb to point to your [[NecroWatch/A_to_D#Dulston|Dulston|link]] and then point to that. And then you may as well just create a necrowatch page for each suburb, I guess <small>-- [[User:Boxy|boxy]] [[User talk:Boxy|talk]] • [[UDWiki:Image Categorisation|i]] 08:41 31 December 2007 (BST)</small>
::::On the problem of how to direct the links, based on the fact that we would be using a single template (i.e. Template:Suburb), I have a solution that would work. How about we simply incorporate a variable into the Suburb template to support directing the sub-page (i.e. A_to_D) that I can then set for each suburb individually and as for the anchored link (i.e. #Dulston) we could use the <nowiki>{{PAGENAME}}</nowiki> utility template? Or more specifically, the Suburb template would include wikicode like this: <nowiki>[[NecroWatch/{{{SubPage|A_to_D}}}#{{PAGENAME}}|NecroWatch]]</nowiki>. Then all I would need to do is set the SubPage value for every suburb wikipage. --[[User:Mobius187|Mobius187]] 15:55, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
:::::That would probably work... I'll leave it up to you, it's your project after all <small>-- [[User:Boxy|boxy]] <sup>[[User talk:Boxy|talk]] • [[UDWiki:Image Categorisation|i]]</sup> 23:49 1 January 2008 (BST)</small>

===Animated GIFs and Sysop-dom===
First, the major topic. It would appear that Grim is cleaning house in the Sysop list, which is a noble effort as I like to do something similar with my efforts on managing group member lists. No point including someone who isn't around, or contributing. I gave it some thought and if he is set on this course of action I think it would be in our mutual best interests for me to step down as a Sysop. That allows him to better manage the Sysop list (i.e. only listing those who really are there to perform those duties) and I get back to what I do best, non-Sysop work on the UD Wiki. My only real complaint was the implication that I was just being lazy, when in fact I never agreed to do anything more than I currently was doing. So, yeah. It was fun, sort of, but I'll step down to resolve this issue. So I suppose my question is, what do I need to do in order to do that? --[[User:Mobius187|Mobius187]] 00:43, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
:Grim isn't cleaning house of inactive sysops, he's argued against all formal policy so far aimed at that. He's just seems to want you out. If you don't want the hassle, then ask for [[A/DM|demotion]], or if you want to see if the community still supports you keeping your sysop status (they are the ones you're serving, not Grim, not me), put yourself up for [[A/PM|reevaluation]] (if you can handle frank criticism). I don't know if I'd support your reevaluation, but as far as I'm concerned you're doing no harm with your sysops powers, even if they arn't fully utilised. At least what you do clean up of your own doesn't need to be handled by the rest of us <small>-- [[User:Boxy|boxy]] [[User talk:Boxy|talk]] • [[UDWiki:Image Categorisation|i]] 06:28 30 December 2007 (BST)</small>
::Hmmm. Well even if Grim's motives are speculative, the fact remains that I don't often use any of my Sysop-granted powers and I certainly don't perform Sysop duties. So on the one hand I don't want to step down if the only reason is because Grim has got a bug in bonnet over something I did (again, he specifically didn't ask me to step down, rather he requested I just do the Sysop work), while on the other hand he does make a valid point, I don't plan on performing Sysop duties beyond those that I have already performed. I suppose I could wait and see whether Grim is still serious about his request. If he pursues an answer from me then I'll know I need to provide him with one. I think what I find the most interesting is that I was originally voted in even after I stated that I would only be acting as a Sysop in a limited capacity, and maybe even leaving the UD Wiki (back then). So in that regard everyone who voted in favor of me knew what to expect, as my goals are strictly aimed towards improving the UD Wiki through clean-up and wiki projects rather than administrative duties. --[[User:Mobius187|Mobius187]] 17:20, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
:::Im not sure if i should laugh at the absurdity of your ideas or cry that you are dumb enough (And more importantly, paranoid enough) to leap to that ludicrous conclusion. As i have said, i would much rather you took up the torch of responsibility, but if you dont want to do the job then you shouldnt have the power. Its plain simple. Saying that you got voted in means nothing. Its patently obvious from the promotions candudacies of late that people will vouch for anyone who posts even a moderate amount and doesnt tick them off. Things such as suitability nearly never come into play. Besides, its not a vote, and having read your promotions bid and seen everything there, i can pretty much say your promotion was a mistake, in light of your comments that you probably wouldnt be around. To be honest, i think your persecution complex of late has been brought on by the fact i submitted you to [[A/VB]] for spamming. That has nothing to do with you being a sysop, and everything to do with you spamming. --[[User:Grim_s|The Grimch]] [[Project UnWelcome|U!]] [[Project Evil|E!]] [[We are Trolls!|WAT!]] 18:42, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
::::I think I should begin by asking, which idea you are referring to as absurd? I can also assure you that I am in full control of my mental faculties and am not in any way paranoid as you have implied. I think if you will carefully review what I wrote you will see that I simply stated the facts as I know them and speculated two possible outcomes based on that information. I admit what little information I have of your personality is biased by those I have spoken to, of which some hold unfavorable opinions of your methods. Perhaps that was wrong of me as I usually try to be agreeable with everyone I work with. If anything I am all about self-improvement, so I will cast aside those potential misconceptions about you and start with a clean slate. I should also point out that I was completely unaware of the recent "spam" allegations made against me, and I can only assume that you believed my comments were in some way rooted to that complaint (which they were not). Thus, we can conclude that I do not a persecution complex because in no way do I feel persecuted. Maybe a little pressured, but just a little. Certainly nothing really worthy complaining about. --[[User:Mobius187|Mobius187]] 19:33, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Next topic, and one slightly less important, how much leeway do you grant to animated GIFs in terms of the recommended maximum image file size (i.e. 150KB)? In my opinion the file size limit is in place to prevent huge image files or such that take forever to load and thus slow-down the load rate for the Wiki. Right? In the case animated GIF files the GIF can load similar to streamed video, with the key factor being how long it takes to load a single frame. In this case I have an animated file with 50 frames, each 10-13KB each (125x100px, meant for a template). In total that's a file size of 550+KB, but the animated GIF will start up based on the load times of the individual images, or a few each second or so until it gets up to full speed having loaded all of them, but at no time are users left staring at nothing. I have tried to lessen the number of images, but as the animated GIF is not a sequence, but rather a series of random images associated with my topic, reducing their number lessens the original purpose. I can show you by uploading the 50-frame animated GIF to the Wiki, and you could delete it should you find it unacceptable, but I wanted to check with you first before doing anything along those lines. --[[User:Mobius187|Mobius187]] 00:43, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
:I don't make wiki policy, and I don't know of any in regards to image size (other than the suggestion on the upload page). [[Wiki Questions]] would probably be the best place to ask. I will say, that having a relatively slow connection, images like [[:Image:Demlogo.gif]] are a pain in the arse to load. Even if the first frame comes up quickly, images further down the page often don't come up until it's totally loaded. I wouldn't like to see images of that size used on many pages <small>-- [[User:Boxy|boxy]] [[User talk:Boxy|talk]] • [[UDWiki:Image Categorisation|i]] 06:28 30 December 2007 (BST)</small>
::I'll redirect my question there. I agree though, [[:Image:Demlogo.gif]] did take longer than I would have wished to load. I downloaded the file and confirmed it's 30 frames, of which a majority are 450x199px in size. I'm hoping though that while my animated GIF would have more frames, their scale (125x100px) will improve the download rate. Still, I'll see what everyone else thinks first. --[[User:Mobius187|Mobius187]] 17:20, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

::::I actually have a completed version of the animated GIF, but I'm curious as to how I should display it online so that it could be judged. As I mentioned before I'm reluctant to upload it to the UD Wiki because it exceeds the posted file size limit (150 vs 550+ KB). --[[User:Mobius187|Mobius187]] 19:33, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

===Policy I'm Working On (Not Spam This Time.)===
Is this already in place, or does it still need to be put through? My policy:
''One of the most basic newbie mistakes is to create a userpage under [[YourName]] rather than [[User:YourName]]. This can be incredibly frustrating to wiki users that try to find if that person has a userpage, and can confuse the person when they are welcomed on their [[User Talk:YourName]] page, not to mention if they vandalize- accidentally or not- and they need to be warned or banned. This is a problem that needs to be minimized as much as is possible, and so sysops need the power to merge these pages on sight, rather than having to go through other approval.''
Can you help me expand it, and fill it out if it isn't already in place and tell me if it is? {{User:Nalikill/Sig}} 00:11, 12 October 2007 (BST)
:SysOps already move user pages created in the main namespace to the user namespace when they see them, or are asked to in the move administration page. No one ever got warned for this minor issue in the wiki. So, there is no need for a policy about this. --{{User:Hagnat/sig}} 02:12, 12 October 2007 (BST)

:This isn't really needed, as such pages are covered by speedydelete criterion 9, so we move and get rid of them already, and it doesn't cause any drama the way it is. I only try to change policy when the way things are done is causing too much trouble <small>-- [[User:Boxy|boxy]] • [[User talk:Boxy|talk]] • 14:02 12 October 2007 (BST)</small>

<Nowiki>{{Subst:Vandal Banning}}</nowiki>. Maybe you could add that to the VB page to assist with proper formatting of reports? {{User:Nalikill/Sig}} 02:11, 1 October 2007 (BST)
:Interesting template. However in it's current state I don't see it being used or advertised on [[A/VB]]. The key things to note are:
* It links to [[User:Darkmagic|Darkmagic's]] userpage
* It requires two edits to use (one to subst in the template and one to change the username), you should learn about [[Help:Templates|variables]] to avoid this.
:I don't think this is very useful though because it adds un-nessacary complications to the process of making a report. - <span style="font-size: xx-small; color: #CD9">If [[User:Jedaz|Jedaz]] =<span style="color:#777"> 09:24, 1 October 2007 (BST) </span>then pi = 2 [[Signature Race|+ 1]]</span>
:I agree with Jedaz, brings more complication into the page than is needed. ===Defining NPOV===
I was going over old talk pages and such and noticed that you were interested in building a real and applicable description for NPOV for the Urban Dead wiki, when I checked I saw it still [[NPOV|has never been done]]. The wikipedia description of NPOV has many major short coming when applied here and there are plenty of flaws with applying it and I think defining NPOV for Urban Dead is a necessary thing that could settle a lot of disputes. It is also something I've been looking for a way to try to do and get a consensus from users on for quite a while. So, that being said I would like to talk with you about setting up a definition for NPOV for the wiki through discussion of POV issues and such to see if we, and other users in the community, can come to a definitive conclusion on what can and can't be allowed(such as we all know that original research must be allowed but what about requiring proof, etc.). I'm sure we could discuss it on talk pages but mabey it would be best if we did it on the NPOV page talk page so everyone could participate and announce it as wiki news.--[[User:Karek|karek]] 23:35, 7 July 2007 (BST)

===Renaming Sub-Group Wikipages===
I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but I cannot appear to rename a sub-group wikipage within the Category tag. For example, say I have the page [[Dead vs Blue/Members]]. Now say I wanted to put a category tag in their to group it with the other [[Dead vs Blue]] sub-pages (i.e. <nowiki>[[Category:Dead vs Blue]]</nowiki>). Now in that category page it will appear as '''Dead vs Blue/Members''', even if on the wikipage I placed the tag as: <nowiki>[[Category:Dead vs Blue|Members]]</nowiki>. This is in contrast to how users can apparently edit how a location wikipage is categorized, namely by remove "The" from its title in order to properly alphabeticize it in the list. --[[User:Mobius187|Mobius187]] April 10 2007, 8:51 AM
:I'm not sure I know what you mean there. I tried it out on the members page, and by adding <nowiki>[[Category:Dead vs Blue|Members, Dead vs Blue]]</nowiki> it separated that page out into the M's part of the category, although it didn't "rename" the page there (but I don't think it ever did that, even for locations pages). Is that what you wanted, or something more? -- [[User:Boxy|boxy]] [[User_talk:boxy|T]] [[User:Boxy/Locations|L]] [[Zombie Squad|ZS]] [[Location Nuts|Nuts2U]] [[Dead Animals/Redux|DA]] 00:54, 11 April 2007 (BST)

Oh, and also have a look at [[User_talk:Dux_Ducis/sandbox|this]] page. It's just a sketchy idea of how the help section could be set out better. I think it needs a proper home page rather than a template at the bottom of the page. What do you think? Oh, I also want to revive Project Wiki Patrol. Entirely Angry

I still don't agree, but meh. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 10:39, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

I remember when Pescodcide/Dullstown used to be constantly green, and we'd regularly break into buildings, killing survivors here and there. But I wouldn't describe the place as anything but safe, because we could all bank on getting a headshot, inside or out, within the hour, and the survivors a revive as soon as they stood up :) -- boxy talkteh rulz 10:45 27 January 2009 (BST)
I always find it boils down to your definition of a group of zombies. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 15:42, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Kempsterbank

Because I had first hand information, as per my report on the suburb page. There is an active zombie group of above 10. Even the suburb's own news page admits there's a "hot spot" of zombie activity. Good enough? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 09:22, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Fair enough. I want to get a feel for how reliable the EMRs are, and having a suburb show up as no standing zombies, and hours later be classified as moderately dangerous is an anomaly :P -- boxy talkteh rulz 12:10 9 January 2009 (BST)
Yeah I was in a hurry and should have changed it and recorded why in the comments box. I was just being lazy! --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 13:41, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Template Question

I'm trying to figure out how to display the month in which a page was last modified in named form. I know {{REVISIONMONTH}} exists, but it displays the month in numeric form. This would work, but having both a date and month expressed numerically can be confusing, as their positions are interchangeable in common usage. Anyway, I tried to create a template {{REVISIONMONTHNAME}} by using code from wikipedia and {{REVISIONMONTH}}. This has failed and I can't figure out how to get it to work. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated. --Zarneverfike 07:44, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

What do you need it for? The revision date is at the bottom of pages for me, already. For example, "This page has been accessed 15,589 times. This page was last modified 07:44, January 6, 2009" is at the bottom of this page -- boxy talkteh rulz 10:26 6 January 2009 (BST)
I wanted to use it in another template: {{Mobile Phone Mast Coverage}}, based on the Monroeville and Borehamwood population templates. I wanted to include a last revised date on the template, so it would be convenient to see how current the network coverage number was. Using the revision templates would make updating the mobile coverage template slightly easier, as only the % number would have to be updated. Like I said, {{REVISIONMONTH}} would suffice, but I think having the month in named form is potentially less confusing, and also, in my opinion, looks better. I tried playing around with the {{REVISIONMONTHNAME}} template a bit, but its above my wiki editing skill level. Oh, and yes, if templates created for this little project fail / aren't used a speedy deletion will be their ultimate fate. --Zarneverfike 22:17, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
I'd guess that the problem is that we don't have parser functions installed in this wiki (I think). Pity really, because I could use it in one of my projects -- boxy talkteh rulz 10:03 7 January 2009 (BST)
I think I may actually have gotten it to work. Turns out {{switch}} was used prior to parser functions on wikipedia, and was a valid template here. Anyway, I'm almost certain {{REVISIONMONTHNAME}} works properly now (though I guess I won't know for certain until February.) Anyway, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Also, I'll submit the two unused templates created in the process: {{MONTHNAME}} and {{MONTHNUMBER}} to A/SD. Thank you again for your help. --Zarneverfike 11:01, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Edit: Given further thought, {{REVISIONMONTHNAME}} is useless, as it would only display when it was last revised. Its code is now directly included in the mobile coverage template I was working on. {{REVISIONMONTHNAME}} will join its cousins in the speedy deletion queue. Thanks anyway for the help though. --Zarneverfike 11:17, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
You might also want to put that failed template up for A/SD by the way. Unless you can change it over to something useful or that works.--– Nubis NWO 11:32, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

I made something to this effect in ProjDev. Just haven't quite bothered finishing it yet. Depending on how soon it's needed and how major a part of the project it is I could always fast track it for you.--Karekmaps?! 06:46, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Well, it ended up working, but not as I intended. All the revision templates called the final page they were included on, and not the phone mast template. It would be slightly preferable if I could figure out how to make them work how I want them. In the mean time, I've resorted to tildes (which work fine, but are an extra step for anyone updating the template, and produce a more precise, but less aesthetically pleasing result.) --Zarneverfike 13:58, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Info Locations

Why this and this? I was wondering, can we do redirects for categories (for this problem)? For example, redirect 'Category:Police Dept' to 'Category:Police Department? --Janus talk 21:01, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, are you refering to anything specific?--Captain Rickety 00:20, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Not really. I was going through your contributions to see what was going on when you broke the STARS redirects, and noticed that a lot of your talk page contributions weren't signed.
