Oi

Stop re-creating deleted group pages with absolutely no content on them! -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 03:58, 9 April 2007 (BST)

Yes, that's what I was talking about. They were deleted for a reason, presumably. Perhaps it would be best to leave their names on the religion page, but take out the links to the empty pages. Perhaps even move them to a separate section, listing defunct religious groups -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 04:29, 9 April 2007 (BST)
It's a plan. Buddhagazelle 04:31, 9 April 2007 (BST)Buddhagazelle
Thanks, and no worries. If you ever do need a deleted page retrieved, you can use {{A/U|the undeletions page]] and if you have a good reason, then the mods can put the page back the way it was before deletion (as long as the data hasn't been purged in the meantime) -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 06:33, 9 April 2007 (BST)

Zarrah

Yeah, I logged back in and noticed you were trying to talk to me. I kinda logged out right after the speech and had to go do something. Don't worry about the bite--Huey doesn't mind, although he was a bit surprised when one of the other zombies wanted to skip to the refreshments stage a little early ;) --Huey P Long 02:44, 30 March 2007 (BST)

Quartly

Were you there for my speech and Wolfgang's? Daniel Hicken 05:27, 30 March 2007 (BST)

No, I missed them, though I've read Wolfgang's transcript. I was there for Huey P. Long's speech yesterday-- it was in human-language, but most of tho following discussion (and poem recitation) was in kiZombie. Buddhagazelle 15:58, 30 March 2007 (BST)Buddhagazelle

Zombie Texts

In response to the message left on my discussion page regarding your compiling of zombie texts, I've located this profile which contains a few examples. I'm intruiged by this venture, and would like to offer my services if at all possible. Monsieur 15:54, April 02 2007 (GMT)

Great! I've started a user subpage with overheard zombie speech; as of yet it's completely disorganized.

--The profile of an angry zombie and the group Broadway Zombies have several performances in Zamgrh, in particular a spectacular musical rendition of the Lion King.

I have seriously SO SO much I can give you! I never even put up the between-acts conversations from the Lion King show. Then I have all the other field recordings I've made over the past year. Oh, and you may want to look through the archive of the Quartly Lecture Series, since there was plenty of zombie speech there. (But don't get confused by pink unicorns, who speaks his own dialect) I promise to dig up my files and put my stuff on your page. --Dr Ransom 03:10, 17 April 2007 (BST)
Oooooh! Now I just need to find ...time... to analyze it all...
You have my first installment! But don't let the Zombie Linguistics distract you too much from the RL Linguistics... ;) What are you studying? --Dr Ransom 08:03, 19 April 2007 (BST)
How exciting! Right now I'm doing Eastern Sentani, Government & Binding theory, and Language Planning! --Dr Ransom 21:43, 19 April 2007 (BST)

don't do anything to the revolution

Next time you claim that anything of the rev. is defunct, i will freak out on your ass.--Darkmagic 22:07, 10 April 2007 (BST)

  • But that's just dull. What fun would it be to have all the zombies removed? No fun, that's what. I'm sure you enjoy shooting zombies as much as we love our banana-laden harmanbargah-fests. --Monsieur 11:46, 18 April 2007 (GMT)

Museum Exhibits of Malton

  • Ezekiel Jones III said "hey, would any of you be interested in an extended project to catalogue all the museum gallerys in malton?"
  • xryanx1 said "It would be kinda boring, but then, day by day I grow weary of the sedentary life. I may partake in your quest Zeke." (7 hours and 51 minutes ago)
  • Ezekiel Jones III said "see, the wiki lists 250 museums (http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/List_of_Museums), and 18 types of exhibits, but ther is currently no resource for knowing what can be found where." (6 hours and 41 minutes ago)
  • Ezekiel Jones III said "such a resource would be handy when seeking out decor for the library, and, i believe within it's spirit of collecting and cataloging knowledge and culture"
  • gimbo said "I could possibly be up for helping out with a museum tour, I think..." (3 hours and 49 minutes ago)
  • Lilandryl said "I'd be happy to help w/ the museum tour...I could do the northern-most horizontal line of suburbs...."
  • gimbo said "I don't really care where I go - give me a list of museums and I'll visit them." (29 seconds ago)
  • Ezekiel Jones III said "ok then, i had origionally though that we'd devide this into horizontal strips, but it does'nt really matter, so long as everybody takes 20 suberbs." (2 hours and 34 minutes ago)
  • Ezekiel Jones III said "buddahgazelle; as you have taken first pick, you can cover everything between Grigg Heights, and Williamsville, that leaves the Dakerstown-Havercroft, Chancelwood-Starlingtown, and Roftwood-Miltown blocks," (2 hours and 29 minutes ago)
  • Ezekiel Jones III said "as well as the strip down the middle between East Boundwood and Wyke Hills open to whoever wants them." (2 hours and 28 minutes ago)

  • Ezekiel Jones III said "as to notations in the wiki, i think we should keep it simple for now. go to http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/List_of_Museums and copy the relevant portion of each museum's description (ex: …currently displaying a selection of European art.)" (2 hours and 22 minutes ago)
  • Ezekiel Jones III said "to a sub bullet under each museum's entry (notation is **). keep in mind that each one is listed twice, first alphabetially, then by suburb," (2 hours and 21 minutes ago)
  • Ezekiel Jones III said "i might think up a beter template later, so keep you eye on the article's discussion page, and please keep a copy of your own incase the wiki copy gets screwed up. now i'm down to my last ap, so i'll be here for at least the next 25 hours in case anybody" (2 hours and 18 minutes ago)

  • ignoti said "Thanks Lil!" (2 hours and 7 minutes ago)
  • Ezekiel Jones III said "oh, and three more things: 1 some individual museums have wikipages which list the exhibit, might be useful but please look with your own eyes to be sure. 2 update the building description list with new ones. 3 lets all keep in contact via mobile phone." (1 hour and 44 minutes ago)

  • Lilandryl said "Also, I was thinking of trying to search for at least one item per museum...if possible" (10 minutes ago)
  • Dr Kimba said "I'd be happy to stay, I have a phone...where's the tower in this suburb?" (8 minutes ago)
  • Dr Kimba said "Someone please strengthen the barricades...I'm too sleepy to do it." (6 minutes ago)

New Malton Skete

Hey Buddha (interesting name!)....

I'm afraid you may still be Malton's only surviving Eastern Christian (irl at least) - I wouldn't classify myself as Christian irl and have not grown up in an Orthodox environment. I should explain why I have planted New Malton Skete on the wiki.

I'm a big fan of player group interactions and a strong believer in the potential of wikis to develop concepts collaboratively. I have increasingly noticed quite a heavy slant on in-game religion away from established, organised religions and towards new religions and particularly the zombie flavoured religions (most particularly Church of the Resurrection but many others too). These 'religions' tend to be rather warped and destructive but are often more attractive to the average game player as they provide a framework for the behaviours they sanction. Conversely, it is comparitively difficult for players to follow and perpetuate a more traditional ethical code as there is little in the game to provide context or visibility as a group. The Skete is an attempt to provide a level of support to players who wish to do this. Because such players are rare (the Category:Christian currently only applies to a handful of users), a structured organisation seemed inappropriate.

I took a little time to research early and alternative Church organisations in order to look for a model which might work and a few things caught my eye along the way. In particular, Saint Anthony Abbot seems to be a very appropriate touchstone and the living conditions and structure of the Desert Fathers seems to transfer quite well to a more modern apocalyptic setting. It is also of interest to me that the Eastern Church has sought to maintain its traditions intact and unbroken through the ages, regardless of the suffering it has endured for this. When the body of the Church starts to break down, it seems to me that its spirit must be kept alive by the few believers who are prepared to suffer for it. Malton needs these believers.

The Skete exists for anyone who wishes to make use of it, to be used in whatever way is most appropriate. It is not my group and never will be (although I may make a new character specifically to play within it). My hope is that it can provide a focus within the wiki for communication between religious survivors who would otherwise be quite isolated and that it can help keep the true spirit of the Church alive during these dark times. If enough such players can come together, the Skete may also develop sufficient weight and organisation to make its presence felt within the game. It would be nice if true believers could develop an organisation to help them work cooperatively to keep a small flame of hope burning and it is a seed for this that I have tried to plant.

If I may, I now hand over to you.

At work so must keep this brief.... Would this be of any interest? Will respond at greater length on other topics later. - Fuster 17:31, 23 April 2007 (BST)
"I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness"? Sounds good to me. So far as I can see, it's empty too....
As far as my character's backstory is concerned, this is played close to his chest but it's fairly clear that while he has an interest in knowledge and learning and is being drawn towards a more spiritual life, this is quite different from his day-to-day existence prior to the outbreak. He doesn't like to talk too much but if you can draw him out you might get to thinking he pushed papers somewhere in Malton, working for NT. - Fuster 21:43, 23 April 2007 (BST)

BARBRAZ

I thought the linguist in you might enjoy another bit of wiki gardening I've been up to. Will take a while to set up in game but if it takes root, might make a decent place for you to conduct some of your research? Am scoping the area and making enquiries for something special for the opening but before I can throw the doors open, I'm gonna need to find staff. Please pass word on if you know anyone who might be interested! - Fuster 01:45, 25 April 2007 (BST)

Oh, that could be awful interesting. Where is the first franchise opening? Buddhagazelle 16:07, 25 April 2007 (BST)Buddhagazelle
Currently scoping East Becktown but have also received whispered interest for a franchise in SSZ - Fuster 20:45, 25 April 2007 (BST)
Hm, I have a zombie in Northwest Malton who would enjoy working security at BARBRAZ. My SSZ survivor is a committed member of the QSG. He would however enjoy patronizing a local franchise for the sake of field recordings.
You're welcome to get involved (as much or little as you like!) with the wiki development through the BARBRAZ page and Talk:BARBRAZ and shamble/free run over to East Becktown any time you feel the urge - I'm aiming for open doors and you'd be very welcome. We're not yet set up and it's still likely to be a while yet but I have a few ideas and interest seems to be growing. Hopefully it'll set root and start to feed itself soon. By the way - you may have noticed I've been using your Zamgrh resources a fair bit. Really nice job on those! - Fuster 21:00, 25 April 2007 (BST)

Poustinik

One way to play might be to refuse to kill and to spend time reviving and patrolling/maintaining Church property. I agree that there is the potential for communities (and this would be more interesting) but this requires quite a high level of interest and organisation, which I suspect is best achieved by finding an easier interim system.

In the Orthodox Church... hermits live a life not only of prayer but also of service to their community in the traditional Orthodox Christian manner of the poustinik. The poustinik is a hermit available to all in need and at all times. (from Wikipedia on hermits)

Also...

Weekdays were spent in the cells, accompanied only by a rush mat, a small amount of food and palm blades with which to make ropes and baskets. On Saturdays they would bring their handiwork to the coenobium and take communion together, returning to their cells on Sunday evening. Cells were left open, and those in need could take whatever they wished from the cell if it were found empty. The lavra had a priest; the lavra’s contact with the outside world, and at least two ordained deacons. (from Wikipedia on lavras)

Seems to me that every hermit's path is individual and there is room to do more than simply sit and talk to God.

But then it can be dangerous to listen to Wikipedia.

What do you think?

- Fuster 21:19, 25 April 2007 (BST)

PS. I'm copying this over to the Skete talk page so that a complete record of the discussion is kept there.... let's continue this discussion there. - Fuster 21:22, 25 April 2007 (BST)

Welcome to BARBRAZ!

Hey again!

Just seen you've registered on the BARBRAZ roster. Excellent! I will add you to my in-game contacts and will keep updating the BARBRAZ talk page with any new information as we get closer to opening. Meantime, there's a couple of new BARBRAZ policy amendments on Lord Evans' talk page that you might like to look at and comment on. Any future policy amendments (and I hope there won't need to be many!) will be dealt with on the BARBRAZ talk page.

Have a nice day!

- Fuster 21:39, 25 April 2007 (BST)

Barhah Buddhaboy

In case you're interested, just letting you know I've updated the Skete page.

Also, keep it under your hat but maybe you'd be interested in helping me with this?

Sure! My linguist will be there, that's for sure.

What do you reckon?

- Fuster 01:14, 26 April 2007 (BST)

The doors are now open although the current tenants don't seem too welcoming just yet! - Fuster 21:09, 9 May 2007 (BST)

Museum pages

Hello Buddhagazelle, about the museum pages you created today. I can understand you not wanting to add a location block and the categories to each page while you are adding the museum data but could you add this template {{Blockthis}} so the pages can be added to the list of pages needing location blocks - Vantar 00:50, 1 May 2007 (BST)

Thank you Vantar; I shall. Buddhagazelle 16:42, 1 May 2007 (BST)

Zmargh Foreign Language Contributions

Buddhagazelle, have you actually seen these in use, or are they more suggestions from you? Daniel Hicken 23:12, 14 May 2007 (BST)

Daniel, zmargh is from Wolfgang Puck's Address to the Quartly Library. All additions I make to the dictionary are either taken from transcriptions of in-game zombie speech, or have been coined by me so that my zombies can then use them in-game. --Buddhagazelle 14:27, 16 May 2007 (BST)

Greetings from the Church of the Resurrection

I haven't logged into the wiki in a while, so I just noticed your message on my talk page. Is anything still going on with zmargh? Glad to see some of my terminology in the dictionary. I don't get much chance to mess around with writing in Death Rattle any more, but let me know if I can help with anything. --Dickie Fux 02:32, 23 May 2007 (BST)

I am sorry that I said pk, I know that zombuddha is a gker, but I said that because many of the other members of Extinction in the area do indeed pk. User:Ganadarf

No problem-- it's not like Zombuddha would have any qualms PKing. If he kills humans as a zombie, why would his human self be opposed to the same activity? Buddhagazelle 20:36, 30 May 2007 (BST)

BWB / Ceasefire

Sorry about the late answer, couldn't check the discussion page until now.
About your character turning up and not getting killed... I'm not sure about the best way to announce it to the DRRP, but I could post it on their talk page. I'll have to check if I can access some other mode of communication. Say something in our Brainstock forum, that way at least some will see it. Link the character in question and all that.

Update
I've had my say at the DRRP:s talk page. Now we'll see what happens. --Penny Black 19:03, 31 May 2007 (BST)

Story Time: Harrah Rotter

This is fun! I can see the allure of kiZombie linguistics--having to figure out words for "letter" or reconstructing a sentence so as to avoid needing a nonexistence preposition... --Sirkus 20:43, 27 July 2007 (BST)

innit though? Buddhagazelle 21:38, 27 July 2007 (BST)
It's a good thing you left your message: through some fortuitous use of the Back button I managed to grab tonight's reading for the Harrah Rotter page. Woohoo!

I was wondering why I kept feeling the urge to kiss you. I thought maybe something was going horribly wrong! Oh silly me, I guess I should pay better attention. Sorry about my little oversight!--Pibbit 00:06, 3 October 2007 (BST)

How prophetic^. I really am trying hard to understand KiZombie....how often do you plan on updating the dictionary? I have it bookmarked so I don't get completely frustrated...--Pibbit 22:15, 2 April 2008 (BST)

HEY!

Just because we are attacking you, doesn't mean neither of us has to be asses on the wiki. Please refrain from wiki sabotaging our mainpage. Keep it to the Talkpage. While it was a bit humorous and quite nicely done (redirects and everything) I would recomend you to change it back. I hate reporting people. done. --Buddhagazelle 20:21, 17 October 2007 (BST)
Much obliged! Now back to trying to shoot you while you throw some heavy poetry at us. ;) Love -- Karth  FoD 20:29, 17 October 2007 (BST)

Regarding: your comment

I try to refrain from wearing trenchcoats. It's puts one in a proverbial niche so to speak. A niche I feel I neither belong to, nor deserve being compared to. Furthermore; I do everything with love. We are like you - teachers. Only where you use carrots - we use whips. What I'm trying to say with this ranting is: Thank you for reverting your edit. Very noble of you! With Love -- Karth  FoD 20:42, 17 October 2007 (BST)

Can't speak for others in my group, but it's been nigh a year since I've carried any weapon more threatening than a cricket bat, so anybody who runs around shooting folks and giving them flowers is a hippy and a trench-coater in my eyes. --Buddhagazelle 20:54, 17 October 2007 (BST)
Uh, carrots? No, sir, we use whiskey mostly. A sight more tasty than whips and carrots both, I'd say. --Buddhagazelle 20:46, 17 October 2007 (BST)
True.. But you get the simile. -- Karth  FoD 20:50, 17 October 2007 (BST)
No, I don't exactly get it. I'm not sure we're trying to teach anybody anything. Mostly, we're just trying to stay drunk. And with your proverbial whips (but literal shotguns) you're trying to teach us... not to drink? --Buddhagazelle 20:54, 17 October 2007 (BST)
No - we're trying to teach you that while it's ok to drink (however with moderation), AP's are best spent saving people. Not arguing over poetry in a zombie infested building. It's more. But that's a basic outline. Love -- Karth  FoD 22:04, 17 October 2007 (BST)

Reg: "Peace at last"
