A guide to posting here - READ THIS

Pretty simple really, just make a new subject (using the ===title=== format) at the bottom of the section it comes under. Then, type your comments in underneath.

SIGN YOUR POSTS. If you don't know how to, simply type --~~~~ at the end of your post. Any posts without a signature WILL BE DELETED. Helps to keep things organised.

Oh, one more thing. Could you please, for the love of God, put any new headings at the bottom of their section?

J3D's latest

If J3D is going to be warned for impersonating a sysop, how long is the template going to stay on his page? --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 07:23, 28 August 2009 (BST)

That's a good point. Your reward shall be having the honour of being the one to remove it. (might be prudent to ask him to do so first before wading in) Cyberbob  Talk  08:32, 28 August 2009 (BST)
Nice try, why should I be the one to do it? I don't have a problem with having him on there. As the voter of vandalism and the giver of the warning, perhaps it should be your reward. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 09:08, 28 August 2009 (BST)
Fine, I'll do it - though you should be willing to uphold the decisions of the team even if you disagree with them. Cyberbob  Talk  09:17, 28 August 2009 (BST)

Orphaned Recruitment pages

I noticed that a lot of the orphaned pages are abandoned recruitment adverts. Now in fairness it doesn't look like they will be reused. What do you think? Put them up for deletions, move them into their groups namespace, or just leave a message on the groups talk page, with a link to the old recruitment add included? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 13:23, 21 September 2009 (BST)

Hm, I think I remember taking a look at these myself and not being able to work up the effort to do anything about them at the time. Personally I would say have them deleted, but it's probably a better idea for them to be moved into subpages with maybe a short note left on the group's talk page alerting them to their ad's new location. If you set the request up on A/MR I'll be happy to do it. Cyberbob  Talk  13:35, 21 September 2009 (BST)
Cool, Ill do some tonight. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 15:23, 21 September 2009 (BST)
Ive created a complete list of all the orphans (Making them not orpahns, but anyway.) Do you think a template would be best, that way I can roll it out on all the talk pages? --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 16:01, 21 September 2009 (BST)
Feel free to take Necrotech_Assassins/Recruitment off the list now. It's mine, and I put it up for speedy.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 16:18, 21 September 2009 (BST)
A template sounds like the easiest way to do it, yeah. Cyberbob  Talk  16:36, 21 September 2009 (BST)
Hang on, it looks like they're all subpages already. No need for A/MR I guess; I'll give you a hand with the posting of the template. Cyberbob  Talk  16:40, 21 September 2009 (BST)
Nubis did the latter (of ross' post) quite a bit, I think it's a pretty good way to go, at leased in terms of cleaning up orphaned pages. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 16:42, 21 September 2009 (BST)

ORPHAN.jpg Orphaned Page
The following page(s) were orphaned, meaning they weren't linked from any other page on UDWiki. For house-keeping's sake, we are adding the link onto the relevant talk page. If you don't want the pages anymore just post them on the Deletions Page. You aren't required to do anything, but we'd appreciate if it you kept the link on any one of your pages.

Please note that the link provided below will not remove the page from Orphaned Pages, so you'll still need to manually make a link for us. Thank you.

Looking good! Cyberbob  Talk  15:50, 22 September 2009 (BST)

Bob's amazing dissappearing comments

Hmm, I was just looking at a/vb, and noticed some rather odd things. Firstly, there was your moving of Read's comment to the talk, which seemed to undo itself, then redo itself again. But you already seem to know about that, so that isn't the issue. i'm more concerned with the fact that you responded to Akule on the DCC case, and the response isn't appearing on the page. In fact, I came along and responded myself, because I saw no response. Odd. Any idea why?--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:31, 25 September 2009 (BST)

I have absolutely no idea. My best guess would be something to do with when I opened the tabs in which I made my edits. Cyberbob  Talk  22:34, 25 September 2009 (BST)
Very odd indeed. If you want your comment in the conversation, then I moved his original message to the talk.--Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 22:38, 25 September 2009 (BST)

Oh, whoops - I didn't spot that you wanted feedback on the main page and I didn't spot that the talk page was protected. It's weird - normally there's a warning message that pops up when you go to edit a protected page but it didn't happen this time. I'll move the comment to the main page. I think Grim's coup will be forgotten once this ends (new template opportunity for me). Simply because we may be dealing with a complete breach and abuse of the sysop system. The Nubis vigilante actions that were always borderline misconduct in particular.--SirArgo Talk 01:00, 11 September 2009 (BST)
I don't think so- Grim's Coup was iconic of himself as the ruler of the wiki, and he earned his powers before he stomped everyone with them. Whatever Nubis had done would have been by cheating the system. Vandar already had an infiltrated account as a sysop before anyway. In fact, methinks "Nubis" just got bored of never achieving crat (so he could actually do the next coup) an just gave up ;D --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 01:04, 11 September 2009 (BST)
Hmm. Very true. I guess not knowing exactly what things were like before all of this, I really can't make a clear judgment. I'm just flabbergasted that the account control lasted this long.--SirArgo Talk 01:17, 11 September 2009 (BST)
I hope that's just a really bad joke because Nubis was not after a coup. Cyberbob  Talk  01:52, 11 September 2009 (BST)
It sounds more like Nubis was making a statement on the whole "Trusted User" discussion that Grim created, which was months before the coup. --Akule Maker of fine, hand-crafted UDWiki sass since 2006 -- Akule School's back in session™ 01:55, 11 September 2009 (BST)

Nubis was tired of the petty wiki lawyers and the lack of common sense that runs things. Also, Bob, the "case" I was referring to wasn't actually made into a case (but I couldn't be arsed to edit my post), but it was one of those things that J3D bitched about and probably would have made a case about if the other things hadn't come up. I'm actually surprised that it wasn't one with the bitching that went on about it.--Globetrotters Icon.png #99 DCC 23:48, 12 October 2009 (BST)

Well I pretty much knew about why Nubis left... but thanks for clarifying the other point. Cyberbob  Talk  02:29, 13 October 2009 (BST)

Oh, Crat was never a serious consideration. Nubis would have promoted people like Wan and Iscariot just to see what would happen. And Nubis told both of them that he would do it, too. --Globetrotters Icon.png #99 DCC 23:50, 12 October 2009 (BST)

That I did not know, but it does sound like something he would have done. Cyberbob  Talk  02:29, 13 October 2009 (BST)

Another quetion

When it comes to requesting a page move,... how easy is it for moderators to do them in bulk? I have a quite a few pages that really need to be moved from one category, to another. At that, if theres a way for moderators to do so in bulk, I'd prefer it to be done that way, instead of one by one the way I could do it. How's that sort of thing work? -Poodle of doom 03:14, 28 September 2009 (BST)

Moving pages "in bulk" is no different to deleting a whole bunch "in bulk" - you do have to do them one at a time. It's still far easier (and better - you keep the page histories) to move them with the sysop function than by copypasting them across though. Cyberbob  Talk  03:18, 28 September 2009 (BST)
However, if Poodle means, as he's said, that he wants a page moved from one category to another, it's merely a matter of editing each page to omit one category to facilitate another. If this is the job at hand, I'd be happy to do all the moves for you, Poodle. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 03:20, 28 September 2009 (BST)
It is as DDR understands it. At that, to clarify,.... You'd still have to go back and edit each page individually? If that's the case,... I'd be interested in just doing it myself. I couldn't justify pawning off my burden to someone else. -Poodle of doom 03:29, 28 September 2009 (BST)
If you say so. It's not skin off my back though, so if you change your mind, feel free to contact me. And yes, the only way we can move pages to categories is to just edit each individual page, adding the new category and getting rid of the old. It's not so hard once you get used to it. Good luck. --DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION-- 03:33, 28 September 2009 (BST)
I've got a pretty effective system down... it's just that I was hoping there was an easier way. Thank you kindly. -Poodle of doom 14:06, 28 September 2009 (BST)

Yonnua

Alright, I'm tired of people saying everything I do is for "cred". As demonstrated by when I was put up, I'd have had several more vouches if not for that Policy thing. In fact, I'd have had probably mostly vouches (from what was there). So, why on Earth would I be doing more stuff for "cred"? It's pretty blatant, therefore, that I was actually trying to be helpful. But then again, why should we try to resolve conflicts with other members of the community? We should just ostracise them instead!

Seriously though, I'm not really getting pissed, although I sound it, I'm just tired of everyone claiming I only help them for Credit. --Yonnua Koponen Talk ! Contribs 11:34, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Especially given Yonnua's attempts to pass himself off as a Wise Mediator; you'd think he would have some idea of the personalities he's dealing with. Is he stupid, or did he really truly believe that he could extract a moment of sanguinity from Iscariot? Cyberbob  Talk  12:41, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

I have an onboard that worked with Linux nice and fine, but my ATI card sucked balls with linux. Okay, that's what I thought the remedy would be. Is there no way of linking to image-only without the UD-Wiki page? --    : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : 14:58, 26 November 2009 (UTC)
As far as I'm aware, no. You only need one in-wiki link to keep an image off the Unused Images page, though - so you could maintain those links on one of your user pages or something and still keep the image-only links on that location page. Cyberbob  Talk  15:01, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Okay, that makes sense. Thank you Cyberbob240 xxx --    : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : 15:07, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Next time I...

What'd I do wrong? I'm trying to help D: --Haliman - Talk 05:44, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

I was going to suggest that you warn someone in advance before submitting group pages to A/SD so we can get to them before Iscariot does. :P Cyberbob  Talk  05:47, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
You mean the original authors? Or a sysop? The authors are (mostly) inactive.. --Haliman - Talk 05:48, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
A sysop so the pages can get blammed before they get shunted to A/D. Blam blam! --Bob Boberton TF / DW Littlemudkipsig.gif 05:49, 28 November 2009 (BST)
Alright, I've got a few more I was scared to post after izzy showed up (does he bite?). I'll post them on SD in a sec. --Haliman - Talk 05:51, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Done, and I'm gone for the night. /needs sleep. --Haliman - Talk 05:59, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

We really need to embellish Crit 1 on A/D, and A/SD. If pages have one line of content, and have a whole wall of text on their talk page, ot should be kept; right? --Haliman - Talk 16:18, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

wait

So I've never met the real Nubis? Or the real DCC? Please explain it to me, cause I'm Italian and understand nothing but pizza. --Janus talk 23:19, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
