How depressing it is to see the archives clumped together more and more until there's three years in a single archive. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/a}} 01:20, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
:I know, right? Seems faintly ridiculous to be acknowledging that something with “dead” in the name is dying, but here we are… {{User:Revenant/Sig}} {{Goonsig|Revenant}} 07:57, 21 April 2018 (UTC)

[http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=1295703 Friend of yours?] Check his real name link (NSFW). I think that's more then enough to get him on a Text Rape list. Might wanna talk to him. I'm also scarred for life now :( --[[Image:Umbrella-White.png|14px]][[User:MisterGame|<span style= "color: maroon; background-color: white">'''''Thadeous Oakley''''']][[Image:Umbrella-White.png|14px]]</span> 11:20, 25 August 2010 (BST)
:Yeah, mate in EVIL. What do you mean by NSFW? I don't want to force him out of having his own crap on his profile, he's probably had it there as long as he's been playing, which is a while. I don't really mind tbh, his loss if he's anti-text-raped. lol. -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 11:29, 25 August 2010 (BST)
::Not Safe For Work. Ring a bell? Did you follow the link? But okay, it's not like I'm going to report him, I don't really care but I know some people do and I thought I'd bring it up. Anyway, now I have accidentally bumped into you guys I'm deciding whether or not I send a surprise down there.--[[Image:Umbrella-White.png|14px]][[User:MisterGame|<span style= "color: maroon; background-color: white">'''''Thadeous Oakley''''']][[Image:Umbrella-White.png|14px]]</span> 11:35, 25 August 2010 (BST)
:::Lol! Just so you know, we'll run away from any PKing attacks, we are all wimps atm. Yeah, I've seen lemonparty, it's pretty common, it's like meatspin or any shock website IMO, you're going to see it one way or another and the sooner you do the sooner you can identify the link as something you're never going to click again. Either way, thanks for the heads up, I'll pass the message onto him and see what he thinks. -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig3}} 11:37, 25 August 2010 (BST)

Good Morning,
...a stalker not more than 30 seconds ago... --{{User:Axe Hack/Sig}} 14:34, 25 August 2010 (BST)
Thank you for the information and understanding. It's been years since I used this site.
:Great minds think alike! -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 14:35, 25 August 2010 (BST)
I have made the accurate correction this time. Nation is up. Looking at it right now.
::I'm completely not sure if you remember her, but [[User:Tselita|Tselita]] was in that very same building. Also, my friend, [[User:Zensaga|Zensaga]] was in there as well... --{{User:Axe Hack/Sig}} 14:52, 25 August 2010 (BST)
Also, the Danger Report notification at the top of the edit box does specify it is to be NPOV,
I was trying to help that person, but went about it wrong. I will do better.
I'm sure the usual problem makers will try to tie me to their enemy, but the fact is I was just trying to keep things as accurate as possible. Time for some people to grow up and learn this is not their game, nor their site, and we're all just guests of the creator.
Take care. {{User:Neutral objector}} 04:30, 12 May 2018 (UTC)

Unless they go the "guilt by association" rule for GTF's fit,it should be done for sure. As for learning about it, you'd have learned about it at least as soon the first zerg hunter had PKed you. --{{User:Spiderzed/Sandbox/Sig}} 15:38, 27 August 2010 (BST)
:What is the guilt by association?? -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 17:13, 27 August 2010 (BST)
::The powers that be generally don't like if appealers get abusive and foul-mouthed. (And I probably wouldn't like it as well, looking how they had and have to deal with the likes of Finis Valorum, Dead Bunnies and TZH.) It's some difference though if some lying scumbags like the Dead Bunnies throw out a barrage of insults while denying even basic facts, or if a single member out of several snaps slightly in a case that has been weak to begin with. --{{User:Spiderzed/Sandbox/Sig}} 01:22, 28 August 2010 (BST)
:::Yeah fair. I hoped they would overlook that since we obvs aren't zerging and I just assumed the IP was important so I didn't force the words out of any of their mouths, I just let them say whatever. And it's a ZERG LIST they maintain, if they can't handle abuse from wrongly accused people then they shouldn't be there IMO. One more question: It appears that Guy's response was moved to another thread, is that right? And why? :/ -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 01:29, 28 August 2010 (BST)
::::The mods are running the ZL in their spare time and are basically providing a public service, at which 90% of all work _should_ already be done by Kevan (if the auto-measures were worth anything), so I grant them any right to refuse appeals on the base of "being something we don't wanna put up with". As for moving it, I have no idea if GTF's comment has been moved, and why. If it has any effect will be seen at least as soon as the next list update comes in. --{{User:Spiderzed/Sandbox/Sig}} 01:42, 28 August 2010 (BST)
:::::It buttfucks objectivity up the arsehole if they refuse 100% watertight appeals from a group who is ''absolutely'' not zerging if someone says the F word in them. Just saying. Thought we would have been 100% in the clear, ahh well. Thanks for everything. -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 02:09, 28 August 2010 (BST)

::::::For actual answers on that, you have to grab an actual operator (like TheHuntsman or MarcusCaesar). I'm just a lone zerg hunter and not involved with ZL maintenance. --{{User:Spiderzed/Sandbox/Sig}} 02:17, 28 August 2010 (BST)
:::::::Yeah fair, soz. Again, thanks for the help through this. -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 03:42, 28 August 2010 (BST)
::::::::Essentially, if somebody takes pains to heap abuse the ZL Mods in their removal request then we take that as a clear indication that they do not in fact wish to be removed. (Otherwise they would abide by the removal rules, in which this situation is specifically called out.) It's like someone's face giving the lie to their words, but an online equivalent. {{User:Revenant/Sig}} 04:59, 28 August 2010 (BST)

:::::::::::Oh, just in the zerg liste 9 thread my new group EVIL was submitted to be added because we all defended a break-in with very quick precision and execution. To make sure there was no chance of us being actually added, I got the suspected players to post on the appeals thread so their IP's could be logged. Out of the 5 of us that were considered, the last person to post chucked a shitty over us being added (he didn't realise we had only been submitted, not added) over something so trivial in his eyes. The post itself while embarrassing wasn't anything ''too'' over the top in itself, and since I have a lack of knowledge of the zerg liste methods so I'm pretty paranoid about being added, since it would create a massive dark cloud over our groups morale etc. -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 11:29, 29 August 2010 (BST)
::::::::::::Yeah, you should be fine, mate. Suspicion is not proof, and you've definitely done the right thing in your response. If I were you, I'd do as [[Mostly Harmless]] did and view it as a badge of honour. {{User:Revenant/Sig}} 16:50, 30 August 2010 (BST)

== The Wyke Hills/Wykewood confusion ==
Even if I had actually been the one to make the edit in question, A/V policy is to contact the user and try to work it out with them <b>before</b> aggressively filing a report to get them punished, to promote good faith and newbie-friendliness in the community. I note that my talk page is still nonexistent. If you had left me a message instead of rushing to A/V, perhaps we could have worked out some of the smaller details like "I have never edited the page you accused me of vandalizing." --[[User:Envious|Ɛňvϊoцᵴ]] ([[User talk:Envious|talk]]) 16:21, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
:I had a brain fart making a report about the wrong account, apologies there. I copied the most recent A/VB report over while on the run and somehow didn't remember to change it to the actual accused. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/a}} 22:03, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

You know, those can happen when you are updating a dozen EMRs alone. And the fact that there were two reports for Wyke Hills and one for Wykewood on that particular update didn't help either. And yet when you found it, you decided to point and laugh at it instead of fixing it. I wonder how that could help. -- [[User:Kittithaj|Kittithaj]] 16:48, 28 August 2010 (BST)

was there any discussion about it on the wiki ? --<small>[[User:Hagnat|hagnat]]</small> 14:45, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
:Not that I'm aware of. It's on Kevan, so our lack of discussion here on the wiki is not really surprising. Frankly, given that he cut off payments from UK customers to comply with updated business regulations a few years back, I was half expecting that the wiki and game might suddenly shut down so that he wouldn't have to worry about any potential GDPR compliance issues, but that hasn't happened (yet). {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 17:06, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
:No. I'm not really the person to discuss the GDPR thing. I honestly don't really know much about it at all, so if anyone else wants to chime in with thoughts, please do. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/a}} 03:47, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

It [[User:Aichon/Sandbox/Demo10|looks like]] your DanceDance arrows sig might be one of the ones causing issues for A/VB (the current month's archive isn't showing up on it since it has too much inclusion data), since it's a decent amount larger than the norm. This isn't a warning to fix it or anything of the sort, merely a friendly notification, since I figured you'd want to be aware of something like this. What you do with this info is your call. My best guess is that it's the images causing the issues, since the other big culprit was Mis' sig with the images in it. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 06:45, 30 August 2010 (BST)
== Archive of your suggestion ==
:Yeah, I've noticed that in IE both your sig and Mis's sig are appearing vertically. {{:User:Red Hawk One/sig}} 06:56, 30 August 2010 (BST)
::Ah, yeah, that's an unfortunate side affect of the code that they're using to get links over their images (it's my fault, since I wrote the code). IE7 and earlier doesn't understand the "display: inline-box" stuff, I believe, so it does a "display: box" equivalent instead, which means each image gets its own line. I haven't figured out a fix yet, though I'll readily admit I haven't been looking too hard since I'm not reminded of the issue during daily use (I use something other than IE, of course). IE8 is better (so long as Compatibility Mode is disabled), in that they don't use multiple lines, but the link aspect of the code simply doesn't work in IE8 (yet? Rooster was working on it as recently as yesterday or so). {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 07:04, 30 August 2010 (BST)
:::Thanks heaps for that info guys. I do like the arrows sig but I've always understood there'd most likely be some sort of unfixable problem with them, so I have no issue removing it and just redirecting it to my current lemon signature. is it just affecting the inclusion ''on'' the A/VB page? Or did the signatures in the archive itself also refuse to display? If the former was the only issue, I might wait till the month is over, revert the sig back to the arrows and just continue from there on with my current sig. -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 07:22, 30 August 2010 (BST)

Just a note on the arrows sig, you can use [[Template:ClickInternal]] for the images now. Good news is that it works (thank Aichon), bad news is that it's weighty so using it on several images is bad, mmmkay? Also you have to use it because I said so or I'll get all sig policy on your ass. {{User:The_Rooster/Sig}} 07:16, 1 September 2010 (BST)
I was going to back it up for you, then noticed you already did. The idea is not bad, too bad kevan has not decided to do this.  He seems to be active still on his main site.  --{{User:Gardenator/sig}} 06:06, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
:K cool thanks Rooster. -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 07:57, 1 September 2010 (BST)

Seems that the user Pyropardus is taking over user Pardus and other associated pages.  Afaik, this should not be done.  http://wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/Special:Contributions/Pyropardus  --{{User:Gardenator/sig}} 22:40, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
:I'm interested to hear what you think- I saw those and interpreted it as the same user coming back under a new account (perhaps they forgot their old password) and just reclaiming their old projects, which isn't uncommon. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/tcs}} 22:53, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
::Particularly because all they've done on that group page is do a couple of small spelling fixes, etc. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/tcs}} 22:54, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
:::Ok, and that is fine reasoning; however, Pyropardus blanked user Pardus's page and erased quite a bit of data off of two other pages.  Now compare that to user Igotmadenoughtomakeanewaccount, who was warned for making edits to user Shaqfu's page.  There was some back and forth so it was apparent that Shaqfu didn't want the edit to his page.  The edits were the addition of two templates, one of which called user A Helpful Little Gnome a "five alarm fuckwit".  That appeared to draw user A Helpful Little Gnome into creating a V/B case against user Igotmadenoughtomakeanewaccount.

:::::So just to put my 2c in now the case is done is I'm pleased you bought the case forward because it can be better to be safe than sorry, and I'm cool with that, although I consider the precedent you seem wary of to simply be "assuming good faith", which is the vibe I got from the whole situation (luckily I was right, though I could have easily been wrong and looked like a tit). Hello, Mr. Revolution. I cordially come to you to ask you a simple question regarding your edits to our screenshots. Why do you insinuate we [[zerg]]? Is it because we have screen captures of our own events? If that is the case, it can easily be explained. We do have members just waiting to record our... successes. --[[User:Dracula|Dracula]] 06:31, 14 September 2010 (BST)

:Nup. It's just cause when I have a hundred or so images/pages to categorise in one sitting I just put funny edit summaries down. I'm deprived of fun or amusement in this "hobby" nowadays and want a reaction. No fault to you for enquiring either, zerging is a bad allegation and one I had to go through much stress to stomp down of my group from some butthurt zombie on the Zerg Liste forums. On a serious note, DDR, I think you've gotten far more...eh, Cyberbobish.  Grimish.  Less tolerant.  Looking at a random sampling of your edits, you seem a lot more prone to assuming general incompetence of the people you talk to, as compared to a year+ ago.  Yes, people change, hell Grim was nice once...a long time ago, in a wiki far, far, away, true.  My comment about jadedness was meant as a mild tweak at best, but your response I took to be far more virulent then I was honestly expecting.
== Signature and template questions ==

I am not your friend, so I realise this is presumptive, but I would appreciate an answer.  I do think you do good work and have a pretty good record as an admin, but my memory of your seeming wiki persona a year ago is at serious odds with your present one.  Has adminship caused this, or just overexposure to general asshattery and the grind of the wiki? -[[User:Wulfenbach|Wulfenbach]] 06:56, 15 September 2010 (BST)
:No prob. I think it's a mixture of things. The main one is my current lifestyle IRL, I'm having much less time I can call my own and I'm constantly strung out and burned out from work and university and I think my willingness to spend my small amount of time arguing on UDWiki is waning. I still like to come around because I'm still playing the game with IRL friends, but I no longer bother pretending that if UDWiki was a real life establishment it'd be one I'd attend in a suit and tie. My focus is on fixing up the place as a resource for players, and to stop vandalism and help users interested in coding or events. Beyond that I've been really intolerant towards extraneous arguing even if it's within these realms of my interests. You're right, I've become a lot more retarded of late, but it's a personal problem, not actually an in-wiki problem I think. I also got burned out from my reign as a bureaucrat in early 2010 and that's when I decided the wiki was something I could no longer spend hours a day on. Also, when I was a sysop a year ago there was a reason to take this place and my position seriously from a managerial point of view because between the inept ops, the inactive ones and the dickheads it was a fight to have this place running properly. At one point, for a month, Cyberbob and I were the only ops managing A/VB or any other admin pages. Now, we are (imo) a much better team and all of them have a great presence and work hard for the members, so the need to go over the top with rhetoric and arguing isn't as imperative now, especially since the wiki has been so drama free in the last month or so.
:From the sysop side I still follow protocol and respect the rules in place and I don't want to leave UDWiki, op or otherwise. In the end though, any real behavioural issues on UDWiki just culminated from IRL circumstances and hopefully it's just a phase. -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 07:36, 15 September 2010 (BST)

::Well, here's to your recovery then. I had the luxury of a forced departure (twice now) of RL more or less demanding my absolute presence, so I suppose that's why I can still come back here and want to be productive without necessarily Grimish (I think you know what I mean by that).
I appreciate your help, DDR.  Since you are knowledgeable about signatures, perhaps you could point me to a link that shows/explains how to take a descriptive two-line string of code that delineates a signature ("font-family", etc.) and turns it into the compact form such as your <nowiki>[[User:DDR|DDR]]</nowiki>. I want to be able to turn the strings of descriptors in mine to the compact version of [[Catherine Cushing|Lizzie Donner]].  I made up a signature for each alt and put them on the bottom of my homepage, User: Catherine Cushing. I feel like the code isn't written up properly somehow. Maybe that's because I don't understand any of it (just filched it from other peoples' pages.)

::You know, a while ago...a long time ago, when I was actually actively helping out here and really trying to be a better wiki-person, I gave thought to app'ing for sysop.  I looked at the existing crew, looked at their postings as early as I could go back and compared them to their then-present ones.  I realized that the difference mimic'd the difference I see in the LARP community among organizers.  Namely: LARPer -> Organizer -> Eager -> Helpful -> HELPFUL -> Wise -> Opinionated -> Protective -> Vindictive -> Jaded -> Ex-LARPer.  Since I had just reached the jaded phase with that, I figured that going back over that path with UD would mean that I wouldn't ever want to come back. Which would be sad, I think, since I do like the RRF's people. They tend, IMO, to be pretty fun and enjoyable as a web-group, and to walk away from UD would have to have me leaving them permanently. So I didn't app, which in hindsight, was for the best.
Since I wrote that I did find a place that I think explains how to make a nice signature properly. It is: https://www.w3schools.com/html/html_intro.asp

:::I tried, I still found myself coming back daily for bugging the sysops for the small jobs I didn't think they did right, plus I was still spending just as much time here anyway so I was put back up to be sysop. I think behaviour like that indicates that I still wanted to be around the place, and now I'm more involved in the actual game than I have been in two years, so it's a weird situation at the moment for me to be in. :Hey Catherine. Thanks for the well wishes for London. I'm excited to see it.
:So I think there are two solutions to your questions. Please correct me if you have more questions or if I didn't quite understand your queries (it's been a while since I've really troubleshot signatures).
:The first answer to your question is possibly best answered [[Help:Signatures#Customized_Signatures|here]], with some examples of signature styles etc. that will still help you out with coding and what codes might make your signatures look like what.
:As for your second question, I have a complex signature that appears in code just as '''<nowiki>{{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}}</nowiki>'''when I type my <nowiki>"~~~~"</nowiki>. The way you do that is to go to preferences (top right of this whole page) and go to signature and you add '''<nowiki>{{SUBST:Nosubst|User:YOUR SIG HERE}}</nowiki>.''' So for example, mine says right now, ''' <nowiki>{{SUBST:Nosubst|User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}}</nowiki>'''. You are able to go to the real page of [[User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5]] and see the code for yourself, but thanks to this nifty trick, all that code doesn't end up on a page every time I type the signature, the wiki just uses that code as a template.
:Does that help you at all? {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}} 09:44, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Right, on my user and talk pages, the use of the click template (The one in Mis' sig and your old one) essentially destroys the page by making a massive white space at the bottom of the page. Do I therefore have the right to replace people's signatures with the <nowiki>{{usr}}</nowiki> template? I wanted to have a check before I did anything.--{{User:Yonnua Koponen/signature‎}} 18:26, 15 September 2010 (BST)
::That is extremely helpful and very kind of you, DDR, thank you.  (I didn't realize until just now that the signatures I composed have no date and time stamping function included. Ugh.) --[[User:Catherine Cushing|Catherine Cushing]] ([[User talk:Catherine Cushing|talk]]) 10:38, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
:It technically is your own page. You could edit whatever you see fit. --{{User:Axe Hack/Sig}} 18:28, 15 September 2010 (BST)
:::You can manually add the timestamp! Just type in <nowiki>~~~~~</nowiki> after you put in the template to show the sig you want. Also, if you create a separate page for each signature (just like DDR has) then those pages can be used as the template coding then adding in the five tildes afterwards. You might want to ask Bob what he does, as he switches between signatures depending on what he is doing on the wiki. He has his main one, but then for danger status updates, he often uses his Danger Updater signature. So he might be able to give you another point of view on how to do things with your alt's signatures :) {{User:Stelar/sig}} 11:16, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
::Its your page, as long as you don't alter what they have said, and make it clear they said it, I don't see a problem. I'd probably add a note explaining why though. --{{User:Rosslessness/Sig}} 18:28, 15 September 2010 (BST)
::::For my side signatures, I have a subpage for them (just like a regular signature), e.g. at [[User:Bob Moncrief/DUSig]]. Then, I type ''<nowiki>{{User:Bob Moncrief/DUSig}} ~~~~~</nowiki>'', which transcludes the side signature and then adds just the timestamp (with five tildes, as opposed to four tildes, which would also include my regular signature). {{User:Bob Moncrief/Sig}} 11:58, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
:::Alright, sounds like a plan. It's just with the recent change to my archive page, it's a little bit essential.--{{User:Yonnua Koponen/signature‎}} 18:34, 15 September 2010 (BST)
:::::Thanks all for pitching in to answer that third query that I skimmed past... Basically as Bob and Stelar have said above in regards to getting your 'alternate' signatures to appear as though you are speaking as one of your alts. (Might as well do one for this here message, by manually typing an old sig and then adding the 5 tildes.) {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig2}} 04:10, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
::::Also, it should be noted that neither of those sigs actually uses that template, but I would imagine that template would have the same issue anyway. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 18:35, 15 September 2010 (BST)
:Its fine. -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 23:28, 15 September 2010 (BST)

:Trust me when I say this, I've went through your contribs.  What you have so far is not enough to warrant a good SysOps bidIf you really, really want to be a SysOps, start by sulking around the Admin pages more often, cycling news archives and suggestions, etc. --{{User:Axe Hack/Sig}} 15:33, 16 September 2010 (BST)

:We always love having interested users in becoming a Sysop, but first they need to understand the system in which they work. This includes the administration pages like [[A/MR|Move Requests]], [[A/D|Deletions]], [[A/SD|Speedy Deletions]], and others like [[A/VB|Vandal Banning]]. You have to understand the job you're asking for and we need to be convinced that you do. Besides that, it's always recommended that you know the community well and integrate well with their projects and tasks that try and make the wiki a better information resource. I'm not sure if Yonnua's link to previous advice is specifically the best thing for you to read literally because it's what ''he'' may do, but you need to be able to do your ''own'' thing on the wiki and still be able to help out in your own ways and with your own opinions. But the intention is the same- you need to exhibit your (obviously) keen interest in the community by involving yourself more in many of the wiki's facets. -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 03:35, 17 September 2010 (BST)
I'm not sure when I'm supposed to sign things I write (except messages like this one, obviously.) The revised parks list just seemed to be important enough to be able to back up with my work list, to document, in other words. [[User:Catherine Cushing|<span style="font-family:Goudy Old Style;color:#008080;font-size:small">'''Catherine Cushing'''</span>]] [[User talk:Catherine Cushing|<span style="color:#F74A4A;font-size:small;font-family:Goudy Old Style">(talk)</span>]] 04:58, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
::Tip #1, and I don't mean this with any discourtesy or rudeness (really, I honestly don't), but research the answers yourself, rather than asking questions like "what's involved" to become a sysop (the answer is posted on [[UDWiki:Administration/Promotions#Guidelines_for_System_Operator_Requests|A/PM]]). Asking questions like that is an immediate signal to all of us that you don't understand the system well enough...''yet''. Eager folks like you can and do learn the system eventually by reading through the policies, admin pages, and archives, so that shouldn't be a discouragement to you in the least. But sysops are expected (though it's not part of the official job description) to be decently knowledgeable about the way the wiki works, and that means understanding both the bureaucracy and some of the technical stuff better than the average user.
:For pages like that, I'd just make the edit, and put the reasoning in the edit summary. {{User:Bob Moncrief/Sig}} 12:01, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
::That should have occurred to me, Bob. I'll do that if any similar situation comes up. Thanks. :No problem. Out of curiosity, where’d you get the newer count? {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}} 12:05, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

::As for other advice, I'd agree with Yonn's suggestion to look for a project. There are always things that need cleaning up around here and discussions to be had where opinions are solicited (e.g. there's talk of an RP List redesign on [[UDWiki:General Discussion#hurdles|General Discussion]] right now, I've been working (very slowly) on rethinking the Suggestions system, there are always ideas on Developing Suggestions in need of thoughtful advice, Ross is working (also slowly) on redesigning the Zombie Skills pages, etc.). Getting involved on the admin pages, especially by expressing your opinion in the proper places (always be sure to do it in the proper places, since doing it in the wrong place is once again a signal to us that you don't yet understand how things work) is also a great way to let us get a feel for how you think and form opinions, which you'll be expected to do regularly as a sysop. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 04:26, 17 September 2010 (BST)

:Mate, if you could do that, then making one more video would really be within my grasp. I have a few harrowing problems that have also come up, the biggest being that it's 80% likely that I don't even have the original 220 images anymore anymore, so I'll have to do my best to trawl through old backups to see if I still have them. Between searching for the backups and the old .avi versions I have I ''should'' be able to get a working version of the original 200 days to use. Once I've done that, I'll hit you up and see if you can make a crazy bot to help me get them images. Thanks man. -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 02:30, 19 September 2010 (BST)
::Alright, I've lost all the 220 original images and I dont have the original video but I've managed to nab the Youtube FLV that is embedded onto the video page, I should be able to make a more or less functional replacement from that. As for your crazy bot, if you're still keen, we'll need images from April 28th 2008 to whenever you see fit. See, after 200 days I didn't do ANY screencapping so I don't have any single screenshots at all from April 2008. How do you envision the bot will operate? Do you think it's possible when this many screenshots are needed? -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 06:20, 19 September 2010 (BST)
:::Well I left the bot running today and let it slowly load each revision page, so I've got the info now. Seeing as we need like 700 images, I'll see if I can just have it fake an image that looks like a dangermap so we don't have to take screencaps from the wiki ourselves. I'll post an example if I get it to work. Also, the last purge only seems to have left us with stuff from about September 08, so... yeah. {{User:The_Rooster/Sig}} 17:45, 19 September 2010 (BST)

== Deleting Pages ==

Hey there,
Well hello again! I remember your name from back in the day, and I recently came back myself. Just wanted to say hi. Anyway... There's a couple pages that I had created, that I won't use/have no use for anymore. I was looking for some help on deleting them. These are the pages in question. Thanks!

So I'm asking you, because I'm not sure whether I'd be allowed to or not, and I also get the impression certain other sysops don't like me...

I'm thinking of running a small scale Suburb Massacre, of a 1 suburb radius around South Blythville, covering "Suburb Group Listing" and "Active Groups" (In suburbs that have that further down in their page)

:Hi there! Great to see you’re still editing. Happy to help with the pages too. {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}} 13:28, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

:Yes, I recommend it. Those pages that have second group listings further down the page on suburb pages are REALLY out of date and should be cleaned up. You really know what you should do though? Make it a project for the entirety of Malton and see if anyone is willing to help, and IN the project you can just organise and focus on the subrubs you care about but others can do the rest. That way you fix all of malton. That's just a thought, but you are free to do whatever you want from here when it comes to cleaning up suburb pages. -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 02:16, 19 September 2010 (BST)

Hello DDR! Just wanted to know I saw you changing some pages on maps I uploaded. What do I miss when uploading? Where should I put categorising? --{{User:DiSm/sig}} 09:57, 19 September 2010 (BST)
:Hey- A summary of what to do and how to do it is [[:Category:Images|here]]. Basically, we just have a few categories we use to file all our images under. You'll have already been familiar with [[:Category:Maps]] and [[Category:Screenshots]] as that is what I categorised some of your images as. To do this, just add <nowiki>[[Category:XXXXXXX]]</nowiki> anywhere on the image description.

:You don't need to do categorise as you upload- practically no one does, that's why I tend to do it. But if you do it saves us the trouble of doing it later. You're free to choose whether you want to do it or not in the long run, I won't mind either way. -- {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/l}} 11:48, 19 September 2010 (BST)
::Give it a go, then ask DDR if you did it right. He knows the system better than most of us, plus I still get flashbacks from the 9000+ images I sorted. --{{User:Rosslessness/Sig}} 11:54, 19 September 2010 (BST)

Re: nation library edit:

Good Morning, Thank you for the information and understanding. It's been years since I used this site. I have made the accurate correction this time. Nation is up. Looking at it right now. Also, the Danger Report notification at the top of the edit box does specify it is to be NPOV, I was trying to help that person, but went about it wrong. I will do better. I'm sure the usual problem makers will try to tie me to their enemy, but the fact is I was just trying to keep things as accurate as possible. Time for some people to grow up and learn this is not their game, nor their site, and we're all just guests of the creator. Take care. How can I be a sockpuppet if Im a real person, and don't like a hand up my butt?

Dont be made just because Im making more sense than you. Next time just follow my lead and we can all get there together correctly and accurately!

A/V report

Even if I had actually been the one to make the edit in question, A/V policy is to contact the user and try to work it out with them before aggressively filing a report to get them punished, to promote good faith and newbie-friendliness in the community. I note that my talk page is still nonexistent. If you had left me a message instead of rushing to A/V, perhaps we could have worked out some of the smaller details like "I have never edited the page you accused me of vandalizing." --Ɛňvϊoцᵴ (talk) 16:21, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

I had a brain fart making a report about the wrong account, apologies there. I copied the most recent A/VB report over while on the run and somehow didn't remember to change it to the actual accused. A ZOMBIE ANT 22:03, 14 May 2018 (UTC)

gdpr

was there any discussion about it on the wiki ? --hagnat 14:45, 25 May 2018 (UTC)

Not that I'm aware of. Aichon 17:06, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
No. I'm not really the person to discuss the GDPR thing. I honestly don't really know much about it at all, so if anyone else wants to chime in with thoughts, please do. A ZOMBIE ANT 03:47, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

I'm interested to hear what you think- I saw those and interpreted it as the same user coming back under a new account (perhaps they forgot their old password) and just reclaiming their old projects, which isn't uncommon. THE CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER 22:53, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
Particularly because all they've done on that group page is do a couple of small spelling fixes, etc. THE CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER 22:54, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
Ok, and that is fine reasoning; however, Pyropardus blanked user Pardus's page and erased quite a bit of data off of two other pages.
What I really don't like is the precedent this could set. Does this mean that anyone can make a new account like say user NewMartyBanks, and then proceed to edit user MartyBanks profile and erase large portions of the group he is associated with?--Emot-siren.gif LABIA on the INTERNET Emot-siren.gif Dunell Hills Corpseman The Malton Globetrotters#24 - You rated this wiki '1'! Sure. THE CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER 05:52, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
So just to put my 2c in now the case is done is I'm pleased you bought the case forward because it can be better to be safe than sorry, and I'm cool with that, although I consider the precedent you seem wary of to simply be "assuming good faith", which is the vibe I got from the whole situation (luckily I was right, though I could have easily been wrong and looked like a tit). Nothing wrong with escalating an issue because no one else has brought anything up because of assumptions. I think you did the right thing. THE CENTRAL SCRUTINIZER 16:37, 18 August 2018 (UTC)
Yeah, I was wary for that above reason, plus I think pardus was one of the free speech for all people we were arguing with on discord. I wanted to make the issue known before when I first noticed it, but I wanted to wait to see of there were anymore edits. It did get some humorous stuff going when bob and pyropadus started edit warring. --Emot-siren.gif LABIA on the INTERNET Emot-siren.gif Dunell Hills Corpseman The Malton Globetrotters#24 - You rated this wiki '1'! Signature and template questions

I appreciate your help, DDR. Since you are knowledgeable about signatures, perhaps you could point me to a link that shows/explains how to take a descriptive two-line string of code that delineates a signature ("font-family", etc.) and turns it into the compact form such as your [[User:DDR|DDR]]. I want to be able to turn the strings of descriptors in mine to the compact version of Lizzie Donner. I made up a signature for each alt and put them on the bottom of my homepage, User: Catherine Cushing. I feel like the code isn't written up properly somehow. Maybe that's because I don't understand any of it (just filched it from other peoples' pages.)

Since I wrote that I did find a place that I think explains how to make a nice signature properly. It is: https://www.w3schools.com/html/html_intro.asp

Have some fun in London. I haven't been there in 18 months (I'm in Oregon, above the Pacific in the USA.) It was August and the weather in Whitby was perfection. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Catherine Cushing (talkcontribs) at an unknown time.I forgot; sorry.Catherine Cushing (talk)But the signature I tried to write doesn't have the time and date in it!!!--Catherine Cushing (talk) 10:38, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Hey Catherine. Thanks for the well wishes for London. I'm excited to see it.
So I think there are two solutions to your questions. Please correct me if you have more questions or if I didn't quite understand your queries (it's been a while since I've really troubleshot signatures).
The first answer to your question is possibly best answered here, with some examples of signature styles etc. that will still help you out with coding and what codes might make your signatures look like what.
As for your second question, I have a complex signature that appears in code just as {{User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}}when I type my "~~~~". The way you do that is to go to preferences (top right of this whole page) and go to signature and you add {{SUBST:Nosubst|User:YOUR SIG HERE}}. So for example, mine says right now, {{SUBST:Nosubst|User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5}}. You are able to go to the real page of User:DanceDanceRevolution/sig5 and see the code for yourself, but thanks to this nifty trick, all that code doesn't end up on a page every time I type the signature, the wiki just uses that code as a template.
Does that help you at all? DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION 09:44, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
That is extremely helpful and very kind of you, DDR, thank you. (I didn't realize until just now that the signatures I composed have no date and time stamping function included. Ugh.) --Catherine Cushing (talk) 10:38, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
You can manually add the timestamp! Just type in ~~~~~ after you put in the template to show the sig you want. So he might be able to give you another point of view on how to do things with your alt's signatures :) stelar Talk|MCM|EBD|Scourge 11:16, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
For my side signatures, I have a subpage for them (just like a regular signature), e.g. at User:Bob Moncrief/DUSig. Then, I type {{User:Bob Moncrief/DUSig}} ~~~~~, which transcludes the side signature and then adds just the timestamp (with five tildes, as opposed to four tildes, which would also include my regular signature). Bob Moncrief EBDW! 11:58, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks all for pitching in to answer that third query that I skimmed past... Basically as Bob and Stelar have said above in regards to getting your 'alternate' signatures to appear as though you are speaking as one of your alts. (Might as well do one for this here message, by manually typing an old sig and then adding the 5 tildes.) -- DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION -- 04:10, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
This is fantastically generous of you all, and I actually understand it!!! (I believe it has also illuminated the idea of posting a template one has made on a file page, so that it actually works out in the UD Wiki world.) I can't tell you how incredibly grateful I am for your help. P.S. I wasn't sure I was allowed to insert a live link for something outside the UD Wiki, so I put spaces into the address for that w3 school tutorial thingee I found. Well hello again! I remember your name from back in the day, and I recently came back myself. Just wanted to say hi. Anyway... There's a couple pages that I had created, that I won't use/have no use for anymore. I was looking for some help on deleting them. These are the pages in question. Thanks!

Hi there! Great to see you’re still editing. Happy to help with the pages too. DANCEDANCEREVOLUTION 13:28, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
Thanks! It's slightly strange being back. Started 13 years ago on this simple game, and here I am once again. Lol. Thanks for the help! --DBHT 14:10, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
