::I'll continue testing it out later today, but so far the only thing I see amiss in IE are the plus signs. They are too far down in their divs; they look like an upside-down T. --[[User:Klexur|Klexur]] 07:40, 27 June 2012 (BST)
:::Thank you so much, man, you rock :) I'm falling asleep now but I'll have a look tomorrow and move the sign a bit up.
:::I think there is a problem with an older version of IE (IE8 or IE9, can't remember), where the map wouldn't even react to clicks. Bosch and I found it some time ago, but I've been frightfully busy and haven't had time to find me a proper testing rig.
:::... and I'm really not convinced of the user interface anyway, cause it's unusable in touchscreens. But I haven't had any clever ideas for an alternative. It'd be grand to have this one usable by anyone in PCs at least :/ --{{User:Hashk/sig}} 07:52, 27 June 2012 (BST)
::::Well it works fine for me. In fact, I already love the location selection feature. Are there any other updates? --[[User:Klexur|Klexur]] 06:08, 28 June 2012 (BST)

::::::I had buggy results, too, on my phone. Maybe make it more like the UD game map where you have to click the names to navigate to the block. Then the rest of the div, when clicked, would show and hide the plus icon. --[[User:Klexur|Klexur]] 06:33, 28 June 2012 (BST)

I've been off-and-on working on it for about a year, though I've probably only put in about a week of effort over that time, hence why it may never get done. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 01:27, 29 June 2012 (BST)

:::Yup was just a cache issue, cause Bosch helped me test before, had old stylesheets. NTs now keep their border yes. It was a peeve of mine, than one couldn't see if a highlighted building was an NT before. I mean, cause they have no "NT" in the building name, unlike "Police Department", "Hospital" etc.

:Cheers Karek, most appreciated :) That was interesting, I've never seen that mobile checker before. There are some guidelines there that won't be followed, like using GIF instead or PNG, or conforming to a mobile DTD or schema - this is really not intended for mobiles, I just want not to be gratuitously hostile to them. Some reported kinks are easily fixed, and I shall soon as I get some time. Others, though, like bloody Phusion Passenger refusing to serve cache-control and charset for static files... sigh, now *those* I really want to fix, I just don't know how :/ One of these days I'll just byte the bullet and dive in Passenger's source code, figure this out.

== DSS Phone -- I tip my hat ==
==Hey Soph==
I roll under a new name now, but you knew me as George Zip years ago. Are you still active here? I wanted to talk with someone about the state of the game, and I don't know of anyone better than you for the job. -[[User:VanVeen|VanVeen]] 00:37, 30 July 2013 (BST)

Hi Hashk,
== Signature is broken ==

So I had come up with this grand greasemonkey scrpt idea to make editing danger reports easier, which is neither here nor there. In trying to figure some stuff out with the script I took a look at the DSS phone script. I was immediately struck by how clean and easy to read it was. I was also thankful for your donating it to the public domain.
Hey, the wiki [[Help_talk:Wiki_Update#Some_sort_of_an_update_yesterday.3F|did an update or something]], and now your signature is clearly broken, with a character that used to be there having been replaced with "â—†". Unfortunately, I don't recall what it was before (was it hearts? I think it was hearts, but I'm not sure). Could you fix it and then update the list at the link I provided? Right now we have "â—†" marked as an unknown character, but it looks like you aren't the only one who's used the character, so finding out what it is will allow us to fix some other pages as well. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 23:23, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

Therefore I tip my hat to you and your mad coding skills.
:Hey Aichon! It's been a while huh >.<
:Sig should be fixed now. It was the "black diamond" actually, U+25C6, ◆
:Cheers for letting me know :) --{{User:Hashk/sig}} 23:38, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

:::Come to think of it, yeah, it has been awhile, hmm...
:::Anyway, you're very welcome. Once I realized you had been affected and that I didn't know what the character was, I knew that contacting you would be the quickest way to a solution. And thank ''you'' for getting those other sigs. I hadn't seen those ones yet, and I'm sure they won't mind. I'm just not sure I can stay, though :( It's, life is a bit busy right now, I'm swamped in work - see there's only one game I play now, and I'm having trouble keeping up with that alone, so UD may be a bit too much for me :( Plus, well, I expect the reasons why UD became no fun for me haven't really changed...
:... buut enough with the excuses haha, I'll try my best, promise :")

== DSS Satellite Phone Disabled In Chrome ==

== DSS Target Highlighter and FF4 ==
Hello Sophie (or Hashk, I'm not sure). First, thank you for your work on the DSS Satellite Phone. People like you keep people like me playing, even now.

I have re-installed it since FF4 has disabled UDWidget. However, I can't find the settings Zipo speaks about [http://forums.urbandead.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4&p=2043&hilit=highlighter#p2045 here]. Neither on the game map, nor in the Greasemonkey script commands. Is there something in FF4 that prevents them from showing up, or what else could be going on there? --<small>Oh, and vote on [[UDWiki:Projects/Very_Funny...or_Not|Project Funny]], by the way.</small> --'''<span style="font-family:monospace; background-color:#222222">[[User:Spiderzed|<span style="color:Lime"> Spiderzed</span>]][[User talk:Spiderzed|<span style="color:Lime">█ </span>]]</span>''' 17:55, 15 May 2011 (BST)
Chrome's disabled the Phone because it's not listed on their Chrome Web Store. Security concerns and stuff. All extensions not listed on their Store gets forcibly disabled, and there's no way to re-enable it (at least not on the Windows beta/stable versions).
: Ah, that'll be cos Zipo's talking about a different version of the script. Soph made a better one a bit later that was (and still is, kinda) in Beta. I'll let her answer more, as it's not my place to spill beanz, but the button Zipo's talking about will open an edit box, like [http://imageshack.us/m/713/1474/dsshighlighter.png this] {{User:Kempy/sig}} 19:42, 15 May 2011 (BST)
::Aww, shiny! Me wanna :D The only other list commonly used by me I miss is Cobra's public bounty hunter list. --<small>Oh, and vote on [[UDWiki:Projects/Very_Funny...or_Not|Project Funny]], by the way.</small> --'''<span style="font-family:monospace; background-color:#222222">[[User:Spiderzed|<span style="color:Lime"> Spiderzed</span>]][[User talk:Spiderzed|<span style="color:Lime">█ </span>]]</span>''' 19:46, 15 May 2011 (BST)
:Hey :)
:Yup, as Kemps said, there are two scripts, which I intended to merge into one but I just haven't found the time. The one you know fetches the RG and stuff and paints bounties in red and zergs in green. The other [http://dssrzs.org/gm/dss_highlighter.user.js] lets you manually keep an UDTool-like list, and highlights people from that. It's work in progress, undocumented, not all buttons work, may break... but I believe it handles well DJ Talent's massive hitlist, fwiw. Further, K runs both scripts, for an effect similar to UDTool - personal list plus automatic RG highlighting. I think the order of the scripts matters, or some such trickery, right K? I'm not sure myself because I run neither, I use yet another unpublished Chrome extension >_<
:I shall finish all this, and I'll let you know. But for the time being, you may want to try this.
:Btw Spider, I need to talk to you. You still watch the SWA forum? I'll PM you there in a bit. --{{User:Hashk/sig}} 20:10, 15 May 2011 (BST)
::Thanks for the link! When I have some time to fiddle, I will grab it and see how I can abuse it to do my bidding :D
::As for SWA, the forums are as dead as the group - we could never gather the numbers to make an impact pre-March, and now in the post-March days, our presence in the SW would matter even less. If you need to catch me privately, use the RG forums, Resens or the forums of either FU, Cobra or 404. --<small>Oh, and vote on [[UDWiki:Projects/Very_Funny...or_Not|Project Funny]], by the way.</small> --'''<span style="font-family:monospace; background-color:#222222">[[User:Spiderzed|<span style="color:Lime"> Spiderzed</span>]][[User talk:Spiderzed|<span style="color:Lime">█ </span>]]</span>''' 20:24, 15 May 2011 (BST)
:::Yeah, the order you place the scripts affects how they play with one another. The original one, S2 highlighter, which you were originally using SZ, should go first, then, the new one linked by Soph above. Makes them both work similar to UDTool, widget et al. Except, tons better. Cos she's dead clever like that. For the most part. [[Image:Cool.gif]] {{User:Kempy/sig}} 20:41, 15 May 2011 (BST)
::::^^ that. Except the clever thing, I'm actually dumb as a brick. It's why Popham is blonde.

::::::[[Image:Lol.gif]] ...'for the most part'. {{User:Kempy/sig}} 21:30, 15 May 2011 (BST)
:::::::Have checked it out, and it looks good :) I have only one frivolous request: Could you please add the [http://cobrakills.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=cc&action=display&thread=294 Bounty Hunter List] to auto-updateable lists? It is formatted for UDWidget (just like the other four existing ones) and so should be easy to do. --<small>Oh, and vote on [[UDWiki:Projects/Very_Funny...or_Not|Project Funny]], by the way.</small> --'''<span style="font-family:monospace; background-color:#222222">[[User:Spiderzed|<span style="color:Lime"> Spiderzed</span>]][[User talk:Spiderzed|<span style="color:Lime">█ </span>]]</span>''' 21:06, 17 May 2011 (BST)
::::::::It's done, you are now in charge of highlighting bounty hunters, city-wide. You'll have to wait for the next auto-update, which will happen some time in the next 12 hours (or, if you absolutely have to see it *now*, then uninstall the S2 highlighter script ''with its associated preferences'', and install it again).
::::::::Now piss off from Huntley Heights! :D --{{User:Hashk/sig}} 00:22, 18 May 2011 (BST)

== I can't reload the sat phone script from Aug. 2010! ==
:Hey :)

:Sophie is fine, most people know me as Soph here. Just my wiki user name is Hashk, for reasons. And my name is Val, actually, but really, call me anything you want :D
Everything is in my computer, but the sat phone button disappeared after I had to reload Firefox. I receive calls and the phone book is intact, but I can't initiate calls. I have Greasemonkey reinstalled, but I'm too computer illiterate to manage without an automatic sat phone download link.
:Cheers for the heads up. Yup, had to fix my Pardus extensions already, forgot about the satphone... man this thing is ''old'' >.<

:I'm not really active in UD, but I still maintain my stuff. So, new version on the Chrome store now. Just tell Chrome to update your extensions, it'll pick up the new one (V5.2), which you can enable again. Or, go to the [https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dss-satellite-phone/hoohjbdcflcignoecphjngnamgfgplhb satphone page on the Chrome store] and install from there. It should upgrade in place, no need to re-enter your PINs. Let me know if you have problems. --{{User:Hashk/sig}} 08:26, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
Sorry to bother you!  Thanks for your help and time.[[User:Boocat|boocat]] 02:43, 9 June 2011 (BST)
::As a quick side note, it's possible to get around these restrictions by installing [https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tampermonkey/dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo Tampermonkey], in case a user has userscripts that haven't been placed on the Web Store. For instance, I'm not currently planning to put any of [[User:Aichon/Userscripts|mine]] up on the Web Store, so Tampermonkey will likely be the only supported means of using my userscripts with Chrome, going forward. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 14:06, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

Someone just let me know that if UDICOS executes after the sat phone in Firefox (and presumably other browsers?), the Sat Phone doesn't work. Users can tell this is happening if the sat phone shows up in the "Unknown" section of UDICOS, instead of in the "Others" section where it should be. So yeah, one more note to add about compatibility between our scripts. Sorry for the hassle. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 14:31, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
:::Sign with 4 tildes (<nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>) and indent with colons. The info should already be on a link on your talk page. And I'm sure Sophie will be happy to give you her number. The best way to get in contact with her would probably be through [http://z11.invisionfree.com/Crew_Avenue/index.php?act=idx CAPD's forums]. ::Hey Aichon :) Sorry for the delay, I got the notification from the wiki, but I was busy and then I forgot >.<
:::::You can also contact her through email, if you have an email address set under your account. Just view Sophie's userpage, and in the sidebar that you see on the left of the screen, underneath the Urban Dead logo, there should be an option that says, "E-mail this user". --{{User:Axe Hack/Sig}} 03:52, 14 August 2011 (BST)
::Yup, that's a known issue. I'm not positive now, cause it's been a while since I looked into that code, but I think it goes something like this: Satphone adds its button to the page, with a "click" event handler to open the phone etc. But then UDICOS comes along and ''removes'' all the inventory buttons, and then recreates them in its organised layout. This works fine for all UD buttons, of course, because UDICOS clones the original elements with all their attributes; but Satphone's event handler is not an HTML attribute, so it's lost, and the new "Satellite Phone" button ends up being a simple refresh button with no special function.
::In order to fix this, I think UDICOS should be modified so that it keeps the elements it removes from the document, and reinserts those same elements, rather than creating clones. Then Satphone's handler would remain attached to its button and everything should work fine.
::However, it really is not much trouble to just make sure Satphone runs after UDICOS... so I never tried implementing such a fix and sending you a diff :") --{{User:Hashk/sig}} 01:28, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
:::Yeah, it's one of those things that's generally a non-issue, and since I tend to only really scratch my own itches, I doubt I'll be working on a fix for it, especially if it involves any sort of fundamental change to code that's not mine. ;) {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 03:23, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
::::Okay, someone pestered me about it since apparently the Chrome sat phone extension couldn't be rigged up to execute after UDICOS (at least, that's what they say, and they're a technically savvy userscript author). Anyway, I went ahead and implemented the fix you described. While I was at it, I went ahead and tossed in a "Special" section that shows up in UDICOS if the user has both installed. So, now, if sat phone executes first, UDICOS grabs it, keeps it from being remade, and then puts it in a Special section. If UDICOS executes first, sat phone works just like it always has. Hopefully this will finally put the issue to bed, once and for all, and neither of us will keep getting bothered about it. :P
::::Also, you still playing that other game? Hadn't seen you around recently. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 03:51, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

:Cheers Axe :) Actually, edits to this talk page cause an email notification to be sent to me, so no need to email me (but feel free of course). It does happen that I'm too busy to look in the UD folder, though... so if I don't reply, that's the problem. And emailing me through the wiki won't make much of a difference, I'm afraid - when that happens I'm not even logging in to play.
Hi ! I'm having an issue with this. It was working fine and all of the sudden I can't get a "signal". Only flashes trying to retrieve msgs. :Well actually I had an idea about a new script and wanted to discuss it's possibilities before even hinting at what it was to the public.
The Firefox greasmonkey script 404's on the dropbox page. Can it be rehosted?
:I see no 'email this user' button by the way.  I'm going to try to make the Sat Phone compatible with some of the UD inventory compressors too.  May require editing both scripts a little.  If I have to edit the Sat Phone, I'll send you the edits so you can update it.
:I'm not a scripter, but I do know someone who is good at it, he edited a script I have and made it display my time in a 12 hour clock rather than 24 hour clock and fixed the layout of the script to stop pushing things off the page.  All I could really do myself is make 2 things = null so that they'd stop showing up on the page.  xD
:If you see an email this user button on my page, please use it.  :P [[User:Vas|Vas]] 23:39, 16 August 2011 (BST)
::The email link is on the left sidebar. Go to any user page (or user talk page, like this one), and search for "E-mail this user" if you can't find it.
::... saying that, I'd rather not resort to e-mail myself without good reason. This because I'm a tad paranoid about my privacy - frightfully sorry, it's just stalkers are nasty creatures :( And if I click the email link myself it'll disclose my email addy, which is not a big secret but I'd still rather keep it quiet, no need for it to end up in google next to my name after some careless distribution.
::If you do have a reason to have it, then no problem, send me the email and I'll reply to it. But if you just need to discuss stuff, it can be done perfectly well here.
::The satphone ''is'' compatible with inventory organisers. If you've had problems with them, I'd suggest you read the troubleshooting section in the [[DSS Satellite Phone|user guide]]. As for extending it, sure, the code is public domain so hack away. If you send me a patch I'll consider it for inclusion in my "official" version, but be advised, I'd probably reject any functionality not related to the phone itself. E.g. I wouldn't add inventory organising into the phone, that'd be featurism, which is the cancer that kills useful accessories like this -_-
::If you're interested in modifying UDICOS or another organiser so that they work with the phone even if they run after it, then you'd only have to make sure the event handlers in the phone's button are preserved. See, organisers typically delete and recreate buttons, and in the process they lose the event handlers that the phone attaches to its button. The organiser should copy not only the ordinary (HTML) attributes, but also any event handlers attached to any element they destroy.
::And this is why, when the phone runs after the organiser, the organiser has no chance to muck up things and it all just works :) --{{User:Hashk/sig}} 01:55, 17 August 2011 (BST)

I should be okay, but major thanks for the extremely generous offer. I ended up writing a program to convert the data from my copy of UDMap to SQL, then did a little more work on top of that. I've actually had it functional as a basic map for a month or two already, though it's missing a number of features I consider necessary for its intended use (plus, I totally want to rip off your map's ability to highlight multiple blocks :P). I've been off-and-on working on it for about a year, though I've probably only put in about a week of effort over that time, hence why it may never get done. Aichon 01:27, 29 June 2012 (BST)
Lol I know how that is. Me, I've been working on a name highlighter for months now, too >.< And yes, a week of effort sounds about accurate.
Well if you ever want my databases or my code, just let me know. I've never published the map backend, but that's just cause I've had no reason. It's a ruby rack app. Just hit me if you think you'd have use for it :) --Sophie ◆◆◆ CAPD 01:37, 2 July 2012 (BST)

Hmm, have to confess I'm not fond of the new highlighting (the thin border opposed to turning the block yellow). Hard to spot at a glance, would be easy to overlook, and doesn't seem to work on 'Towers'. --BOSCH 21:55, 28 June 2012 (BST)

Towers gain the yellow border for me in Firefox and IE. Although, NT buildings retain their red borders. --Klexur 22:01, 28 June 2012 (BST)
Nevermind, fixed! Thanks, Hashk! <3 --BOSCH 22:02, 28 June 2012 (BST)
Yup was just a cache issue, cause Bosch helped me test before, had old stylesheets. NTs now keep their border yes. It was a peeve of mine, than one couldn't see if a highlighted building was an NT before. I mean, cause they have no "NT" in the building name, unlike "Police Department", "Hospital" etc.
Yvw Bosch, cheers :) --Sophie ◆◆◆ CAPD 22:16, 28 June 2012 (BST)

Cheers Karek, most appreciated :) That was interesting, I've never seen that mobile checker before.

Signature is broken

Hey, the wiki did an update or something, and now your signature is clearly broken, with a character that used to be there having been replaced with "â—†". DSS Satellite Phone Disabled In Chrome

Hello Sophie (or Hashk, I'm not sure). First, thank you for your work on the DSS Satellite Phone. People like you keep people like me playing, even now.

Chrome's disabled the Phone because it's not listed on their Chrome Web Store. Security concerns and stuff. All extensions not listed on their Store gets forcibly disabled, and there's no way to re-enable it (at least not on the Windows beta/stable versions).

If you're still involved in UD, could you please put it up on the Store? Thanks a lot!

Jorann Scarper 05:27, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

Hey :)
Sophie is fine, most people know me as Soph here. Just my wiki user name is Hashk, for reasons. And my name is Val, actually, but really, call me anything you want :D
Cheers for the heads up. Yup, had to fix my Pardus extensions already, forgot about the satphone... man this thing is old >.<
I'm not really active in UD, but I still maintain my stuff. So, new version on the Chrome store now. Just tell Chrome to update your extensions, it'll pick up the new one (V5.2), which you can enable again. Or, go to the satphone page on the Chrome store and install from there. It should upgrade in place, no need to re-enter your PINs. Let me know if you have problems. --Sophie ◆◆◆ CAPD 08:26, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
As a quick side note, it's possible to get around these restrictions by installing Tampermonkey, in case a user has userscripts that haven't been placed on the Web Store. For instance, I'm not currently planning to put any of mine up on the Web Store, so Tampermonkey will likely be the only supported means of using my userscripts with Chrome, going forward. Thanks Sophie. Good to know UD isn't going away anytime soon :D Jorann Scarper 03:40, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

DSS Sat Phone and UDICOS

Someone just let me know that if UDICOS executes after the sat phone in Firefox (and presumably other browsers?), the Sat Phone doesn't work. Users can tell this is happening if the sat phone shows up in the "Unknown" section of UDICOS, instead of in the "Others" section where it should be. So yeah, one more note to add about compatibility between our scripts. Sorry for the hassle. Aichon 14:31, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

...just noticed that you were already on top of things years ago. I'll clue the user in. Sorry for the unnecessary bother, and I'll see you around in that other game. ;) Aichon 14:35, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
Hey Aichon :) Sorry for the delay, I got the notification from the wiki, but I was busy and then I forgot >.<
Yup, that's a known issue. I'm not positive now, cause it's been a while since I looked into that code, but I think it goes something like this: Satphone adds its button to the page, with a "click" event handler to open the phone etc. But then UDICOS comes along and removes all the inventory buttons, and then recreates them in its organised layout. This works fine for all UD buttons, of course, because UDICOS clones the original elements with all their attributes; but Satphone's event handler is not an HTML attribute, so it's lost, and the new "Satellite Phone" button ends up being a simple refresh button with no special function.
In order to fix this, I think UDICOS should be modified so that it keeps the elements it removes from the document, and reinserts those same elements, rather than creating clones. Then Satphone's handler would remain attached to its button and everything should work fine.
However, it really is not much trouble to just make sure Satphone runs after UDICOS... so I never tried implementing such a fix and sending you a diff :") --Sophie ◆◆◆ CAPD 01:28, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, it's one of those things that's generally a non-issue, and since I tend to only really scratch my own itches, I doubt I'll be working on a fix for it, especially if it involves any sort of fundamental change to code that's not mine. ;) Aichon 03:23, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
Okay, someone pestered me about it since apparently the Chrome sat phone extension couldn't be rigged up to execute after UDICOS (at least, that's what they say, and they're a technically savvy userscript author). :P
Also, you still playing that other game? Hadn't seen you around recently. Aichon 03:51, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

DSS Sat Phone

Hi ! I'm having an issue with this. It was working fine and all of the sudden I can't get a "signal". Only flashes trying to retrieve msgs. I do run scripts, Aichon's, but even when I shut them down it doesn't change anything. (he directed me to you btw :) ) Any ideas what the problem could be ? --Murderess (talk) 02:17, 10 February 2017 (UTC)

Broken download link for satellite phone

The Firefox greasmonkey script 404's on the dropbox page. Can it be rehosted?

EDIT: I was able to find a link elsewhere on the wiki to a copy hosted directly on dssrzs.org so I went ahead and updated it.

DSS map/sat phone

Hey, I left a message on the sat phone talk page before I realised this might be a better place to do it. The DSS map isn't working properly at the moment (it's fine until you click on a block), and the sat phone won't load. stelar (talk) 20:11, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

Unfortunately still seems to be broken when clicking blocks. --Klexur 19:46, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

DSS sat phone registry not working

Hey there. The sat phone number registry page gives me a 404-ish message, is the service by any chance permanently down? Mesousa (talk) 15:10, 3 February 2018 (UTC)

Unfortunately, this service is gone, and so is this user. Hopefully someone else remakes the concept. --Ɛňvϊoцᵴ (talk) 09:19, 11 July 2018 (UTC)
