Welcome to our Wiki

I have noticed that you didn't have a talk page and were eligible for being welcomed by members of our staff. But, checking the number and date of your contributions, I decided to just point you towards the template itself and offer you my help whenever you ask for it. Feel free to stop at Project Welcome/Welcomenewbie if you want a useful array of tips, Help:Contents and the detailed help down here if you want a deeper insight on how a wiki works. Also, use my talk page whenever you have any question about wiki technicalities and/or the specific rules that pertain this particular wiki. See yah!

GU

What does GU stand for? --Pestolence(talk) 20:40, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

You live in Greenland? That's amazing, I wish I did, except it's too cold. --Pestolence(talk) 01:48, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Your sig

Saw you were looking for help with it, so here's how it's done. First off, you've kinda got two sigs in that space you've set aside here. I assume you want the bottom line, so delete the rest of the text. Then, you'll need to go to your preferences (up at the top right, just to the right of your talk page link). Then, check the box marked Raw signatures (without automatic link). Then, in the field marked Nickname, paste in the following: {{Nosubst|User:Jerrel Yokotory/signature}}. When that's done, just save your preferences, and any time you sign with four tildes (~~~~~), whatever you have saved in your sig page will automagically appear. Nothing to be done! 22:22, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

THANK YOU GOD!
THANK YOU! YOU ARE AWESOME!
I swear only a select few around here are helpful like
you, Ross, Bob, and dancedancerevolution.-- Jerrel tlk (82nd!) (Project Unwelcome!). 22:26, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

No sysop?

Hey! The reason you can't be an op is because operators aren't any different from regular users, they just help run the place by deleting bad pages and protecting vandalized ones. You have to understand that there are only 10 or so sysops on the whole wiki, according to the wiki's stats thats 0.03% of the entire userbase. Not every user gets ops, just those who qualify, apply and are accepted by the community. You can see here the guidelines for a user before he can qualify for sysop... You can always be a good user, all you want to be, without being an operator. That's why no one vouches you when you try to get sysop, you don't qualify yet :( --

This

Would have been my vote again this time, if I was able to vote (which I'm not). Good luck with the policy you propose. Anything that increases your profile may help you eventually realise you goal. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 21:55, 13 July 2010 (BST)

I probabley would had have been banned for that too. I'm not going to propose a policy. I was just ticked they put me up for VB whenever there's way worse jackarse's out there.-- Jerrel tlk (82nd!) (Project Unwelcome!). 22:00, 13 July 2010 (BST)

Why you were sent to A/VB, and how not to end up back there

You ended up on A/VB because you made multiple promotion bids in short succession without showing many signs of improvement in between them. There is precedent for such behavior (look up this case for an (extreme) example). While I personally feel taking you to A/VB was a bit overkill, DDR had justification for doing so.

Anyways, you need to be the following things before running for sysop:

  1. ACTIVE. This is defined as "500 contributions within the last 6 months," although most people want to see this in 2-3 months. This point is non-negotiable. If you don't meet the activity requirements, most users will shut you down purely off of it.
  2. Projects under your belt. In order to become sysop, you'll have to prove to the masses you are capable of filling the job. Good projects include making respectful, educated comments on the administrative talk pages, proposing constructive policies, or working to fix formatting on broken pages. Do not cite your group or userpage as a "project."
  3. Wiki Knowledge (formatting) Understand how to format pages, templates, and admin requests. As a sysop, you are expected to be a go-to man for assistance and fixing problems. Furthermore, no one will take your bid seriously if you're known to be sloppy in your work. Read Help:Contents and all the other help pages.
  4. Wiki Knowledge (rules) Being a sysop means enforcing the rules of the wiki. It means knowing what constitutes vandalism, what kind of page needs to be deleted, and knowing what hoops must be jumped through. not knowing these rules (as your comments and unfamiliarity with the ban system on A/VB showed) will make most people look at your bid as a joke. You can learn about this wiki's particular rules by reading the guidelines posted on administrative pages, and reading through Admin archives to familiarize yourself with the system.

Make sure you have ALL of these points mastered before running again, or you WILL end up back on A/VB for promotion spamming (probably). Also, give it at least 2-3 months before running again.~ Red Hawk One Talk | space for lease 22:10, 13 July 2010 (BST)

Thanks. But, Alas, I'm not going to run again.

In fact, I'm not going to make an edit outside my page and group. Because, if i do, some sysops(not you) Are looking for anything to jump my arse and send my back to VB for any small thing. If I say hi, I'm going to be catorised as a terrorists or something.-- Jerrel tlk (82nd!) (Project Unwelcome!). 22:17, 13 July 2010 (BST)

You know, sometimes I feel the same way. I can ask all the questions, hoping to learn procedures and everything else,... but somehow, I'm always a "dumbfuck". I don't venture to far from my group page anymore. - Poodle of Doom 22:24, 13 July 2010 (BST)
