The Rules of the Talk Page

Welcome to my talk page. Whether you've got a query, complaint or just need some help, please follow these 3 simple rules in order to keep my page nice and tidy so I can find your message easily. I'll usually reply on your talk page unless there are two or more participants upon which I shall reply here to minimise stress and flitting between several talk pages. Thank you for your visit. :) Have a nice day.

Stuff not here?? Check my ace Archives.

Rule the First
Start all new topics with a level 2 heading, i.e ==Your Title here== to keep the format tidy.
Rule the Second
Place new comments at the bottom of the page so I can find them easily.
Rule the Third
Please Sign your post or I shall be most unhappy >:( and use lots of angry emotes.
DISCLAIMER
This is my talk page, and as a result I reserve the right to correct any posts that break any of the above rules as I see fit. Don't like it? Tuff.

lol. Who was that one guy that got seriously fucking pissed off at people fiddling with their edit summaries on A/DM again? Was it Hagnat? Damn, that was hilarious. Cyberbob  Talk  16:17, 27 August 2009 (BST)

Yeah I think it was. =p I don't think I've ever done one though. It's usually Gnome or DDR I think. -- Cheese 16:20, 27 August 2009 (BST)

Protected Images

DDR and I were discussing image linked signatures this morning and various thoughts have occurred to me in regards to the benefits and limitations of protected images. I understand you recently conduct some tests on protected images, can I get the results? -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 06:11, 15 September 2009 (BST)

Basically, a protected image can't be uploaded over by a regular user. For example I could protect Image:Example.jpg and while protected it acts just like a protected page in that it can't be edited by anyone except sysops and has the added benefit that it cannot be overwritten by anyone bar sysops. This prevents newbies from accidentally overwriting commonly used images with their own and also prevents uploads of a vandalistic nature from occurring, i.e disgruntled victim overwrites a PKer's user page image with a penis. -- Cheese 10:08, 15 September 2009 (BST)
So, via a standard protection, as one would normally request via A/P, the image cannot be overwritten (changing its size) and any associated text items (categories and redirects) cannot be changed? Excellent. Cheers Cheese. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 10:20, 15 September 2009 (BST)
I invite you to add any thoughts you have. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 18:05, 15 September 2009 (BST)

While you're there, they need shifting out of the Moderation namespace and into the Administration one. -- To know the face of God is to know madness....Praise knowledge! Mischief! Mayhem! The Rogues Gallery!. <== DDR Approved Editor 15:15, 26 September 2009 (BST)

DEM Disambiguation

This is in response to your revert, with the explanation "Yes but people might still be looking for the group page."

I'm not sure that's a reasonable argument- I think that the great majority of people who are searching for "DEM" will be thinking of the Department of Emergency Management. There are other shared acronyms, such as "RRF", which don't have disambiguation pages because the most relevant search item is clear (in the case of RRF, the Ridleyabnk Resistance Front- not the Ridleybank Reclamation Forces).

Disambiguation is only necessary in cases of actual ambiguity. The other DEM doesn't even exist anymore- it's just a defunct group, with a defunct page, which nobody on the wiki seems to talk about except in the context of its shared acronym with one of the most readily recognized groups in the game (check here), the Department of Emergency Management (or "DEM", as virtually everyone who speaks about the group chooses to call it).

Would it be possible to review the decision to maintain that disambiguation page?--FT MCI 02:09, 3 October 2009 (BST)

Cheese seems to be away. If he doesn't reply soon, I'll revert.
As for your stance on disambiguation, I agree. When someone types PRC into Wikipedia, chances are they mean People's Republic of China, not say, Prince Royal's College. As you've said, PRC is a unambiguous redirect - when someone types PRC, they mean (mainland) China. The same goes for the DEM redirect here (although it would probably be prudent for the DEM to include a Wikipedia-style "Other uses of the abbreviation DEM can be found here" link at the top of your page. Meh. You have melted my icy heart with your cool island song. Or was that cooled my hot heart with a cool island song? =/ Warmed my cold heart with a hot island song? I don't know. Either way, I've done the revert. Enjoy! =) -- Cheese 22:06, 5 October 2009 (BST)
Thank you! I've noted on the DEM page that the abbreviation may also refer to Deus Ex Machina.--FT MCI 22:52, 14 October 2009 (BST)

Do we have a Terms of use/service page? I've been looking for a while, and I don't seem to see one. It'd be nice if we did, because then we'd know things that are expressly forbidden due to hosting issues. If there isn't one, I'll ask Kevan about the information.--Suicidal Angel, Help needed? 13:26, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
I don't think we do. =/ All we've got is the Privacy Policy and a General Disclaimer to my knowledge. Might be an idea to check with Kevan. -- Cheese 15:40, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

I expect you guys not to kill me until after the manhunt. :D. Srsly, just restocking for now. I won't kill anyone until then.

Also, nice HQ. I didn't believe my eyes at first. And my first instinct was to call the horde. :D --Mr. Angel, Help needed? 21:16, 19 May 2009 (BST)
