Welcome committee? Not sure what you mean. But hey, anyway hi. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 02:37, 14 June 2007 (BST)

Thanks for the sig help. You a CSS coder by any chance? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 14:42, 3 August 2007 (BST)

No, just a perfectionist nerd. ;) I only actually started learning CSS after editing Wikipedia for a while. W3Schools has a good reference, if you're curious... ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 14:46, 3 August 2007 (BST)
Ta. Yeah I've only just begun to look into it and poke around. I can't remember if it was W3Schools, but most 'learn X language' sites usually have a steep learning curve and forget to mention a lot of little things. --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 14:58, 3 August 2007 (BST)

You There!

What did you do to the Help:Quick Reference page? What's that <pre> thingy do?--Lachryma 18:36, 11 June 2007 (BST)

G'day! The examples at the top were displaying brokenly, because of the way the <pre> tag works. <pre> blocks are designed for displaying preformatted text. The problem was that there were <pre> tags included inside the main <pre> block, so that it when the internal one closed, it was closing the main tag early and not formatting the rest of the example properly. Compare before and after. Cheers! —Revenant talk 18:46, 11 June 2007 (BST)
Um...okay...I sorta...don't get it. Oh well, at least you're cheerful about it!--Lachryma 18:49, 11 June 2007 (BST)
Basically, the original person's idea was to organise it like <tag1> stuff here <tag2> other stuff </tag2> more stuff </tag1>. However, because it's HTML and not really wikicode, it gets interpreted as <tag1> stuff here <tag2> other stuff </tag1> more stuff </tag2>, which breaks the formatting. What I did was use yet a different type of coding so that the middle tag don't get recognised as a tag by the browser, and so doesn't break the outer one.
The more I keep talking the more complicated my explanation seems. Gaaah! It took me a while to figure out and it all works, I just can't seem to explain it clearly. I might be tired. But yes, I am usually quite cheerful! (Although I try not to be so all the time, because I hate people who are always cheerful. Don't you?) —Revenant talk 19:47, 11 June 2007 (BST)
Put your comments at the top of my talk page...well, actually, don't bother to use my talk page just to say you've responded here. I'm addicted to Recent Changes and I always check the pages I've posted on, so there's no worries of your response being missed. Anyway, I get the part of the tag thingies ending wrong, I just don't get what the 'pre' thing does.--Lachryma 09:06, 12 June 2007 (BST)

<pre> is for displaying pre-formatted text which would otherwise have its formatting messed up, like ASCII art and code. Example (pinched from Wikipedia:ASCII art):

    ___ _____ ______________ ___ ____ ______
   / | / ___// ____/ _/ _/ / | / __ \/_ __/
  / /| | \__ \/ / / / / / / /| | / /_/ / / /
 / ___ |___/ / /____/ /_/ / / ___ |/ _, _/ / /
/_/ |_/____/\____/___/___/ /_/ |_/_/ |_| /_/

                          o$ $o
.o$$$$o. .o$$$$o .s$$$$$o.' `".o$$$$$o..o$$$$$o.o$$$$$o.
  .o `$.$$' . o$ $"'.o $$ .o `$. .o `$$ $$
.o$$.o$$$`"$$$o. $$ . $$ $$ .o$$.o$$$ $$"o$" $$
  $$ $$ `$$ $$. $o.$$ $$ $$ $$ $$ $$. $$
  $' $'.o$$$$' `$$$$$$o.' $$ $' $' $$ $$$" `$
                      $' $' $"

It's useful for displaying wikicode examples, because wikicode inside a <pre> block doesn't get rendered. However, when using a <pre> block to demonstrate how to use a <pre> block, like on the Quick Reference page, you need to escape the inside one using HTML character codes, like so: &lt;pre&gt;.

And, of course, to demonstrate that technique clearly on a Wikipage, I needed to escape the codes using &amp; instead of &. And so on and so forth. (And yes, I cheated and looked it up on Wikipedia. :))

Why oh why do I love complicated things so much?

The talk page post was a courtesy post, just in case. I never know how vigilant someone is with watching pages until I talk to them, and being polite never hurts (too much). —Revenant talk 09:32, 12 June 2007 (BST)

Oooo, so it's like putting a space in front of something and the nowiki thingy, all in one little word?--Lachryma 09:37, 12 June 2007 (BST)
Exactly! Wikipedia:Wikipedia:How to edit a page has heaps of useful stuff like this, and I'm sure it explains it more clearly than I do... :/Revenant talk 09:49, 12 June 2007 (BST)
Thanks for the link, but I'm too lazy busy to check it out. Anyway, I think I know just enough about wiki code to get by for now. But again, thanks for the link! And the info!--Lachryma 19:18, 12 June 2007 (BST)

Gah!

You ruined it! I was waiting for some prick to come here all ranting and raving and stuff about that! That makes me sad. You ruined a perfectly good trap. I hope you're happy with your life, knowing that you ruined some bored guy's fun. Thats right, you rained on my parade >:(. Oh well. I guess I can always trick people on the NMC forums. Thats always fun. But seriously though, you shouldn't edit other peoples pages like that. Yes a talk page is supposed to be edited by others, but you were editing my rules. Whether or not it contradicted them. Please, next time just leave a comment on the persons talk page, not edit it outright.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 06:54, 19 July 2007 (BST)

Well in that case,...HA! DUMB ASS! YOU JUST FELL FOR A TRAP. LEARN TO SEE THE BIG PICTURE! :).

Anyway, no problem man. All you did was ruin a perfectly good trap. Nothing big. I don't feel like reverting the changes, the traps been there for a few days now, and out of the 110 times it's been accessed, no one noticed. I was about to take it down myself. And thank you for the hug. You just saved all the people at my school from having their myspaces hacked, and subsequently filled with lies. ;). I can see where you're coming from on the wikipedia part, it can be a bit hard to see the differences between wikis. I belong to four of them, and the rules sometimes cross-over in my mind. Well, good day to you.-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 07:27, 19 July 2007 (BST)

Tearing clothes

how did you get your clothes torn? I'm dying over and over agian and getting revived but only have liters of blood and that's all. Or do you get this with headshots? --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 20:37, 26 July 2007 (BST)

I've only had flimsy clothing ripped or torn so far, namely a bandanna and a scarf. Both were damaged by zombie attacks (in fact, the bandanna was ripped by the very first attack after I got it), which makes sense when you think about it... ᚱᛁᚹᛖᚾ 06:24, 27 July 2007 (BST)
Hm... I've got gasmask/sunglasses scratched after first attack too. Also, that attack involved grip and infectious bite, maybe that's what causing it? --Duke GarlandTLCD SSZ 09:21, 27 July 2007 (BST)

Opacity

I was wondering... I want to have a page background a certain color. Then, I want to have a heap of tables with their own background colors. Then, I want to change the opacity of the table backgrounds. Is there any code that would make this possible on the wiki? --Ducis DuxSlothTalk 03:10, 6 August 2007 (BST)

Sorry to interrupt, but is it even possible in html? (wiki is just an extension of html, notheing more) --~~~~T''' 10:08, 6 August 2007 (BST)

Malton City Circus

Oh, that's just brilliant! Do you think there's room for trapeeze zombies and Lurcho's amazing zombie acrobats? (watch them for a human pyramid, kiddies!) Are tehre any templates for the circus, do you know?--SeventythreeTalk 16:57, 29 September 2007 (BST)

Hey, I'm not that great with template design, so this is a bit rough, but you can tweak it, and use it if you want. Or delete it.

My Vote

Look, I voted as 73, because everything he likes about the suggestion is exactly what I think is spam. Is that clear? I thought it was when I put the vote up, but obviously it wasn't. It wasn't a joke. And I swear, I'll shove a hand grenade up your rectum if anyone tries to display my coding like that. :). Look at that, an actual joke! :P. And please, don't try and strike out my votes unless it's your suggestion. I can't guarantee that you'll get what you like then, but hey, can't have everything we want can we? If we did,the whole justification thing would be gone. If some people don't want to, they shouldn't have to. There are enough people commenting on the suggestion to show why it's hated/liked anyway. :D -- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 01:48, 23 October 2007 (BST)

So we both understand the other, which makes everything all good then. Glad I didn't have to hunt you down. >:).-- dǝǝɥs ɯɐds: sʎɐʍ1ɐ! 10:20, 23 October 2007 (BST)

Gentle introduction

It always warms my heart to see someone so committed to the wiki philosophies at large and active in the UDwiki community. The WelcomeNewbie template is, I think, a good encapsulation of the ideas that someone would need if they were new to the wiki. I think, however, that imposing them onto someone's talk page could be seen as officious if the user didn't know why it was put there. They might even assume they'd done something wrong!

I suggest, then, that either the template be changed to explicitly reassure a newbie that they are being merely (and unconditionally) welcomed to the wiki *or* that the template only be used alongside a specific indication of the edit which caused the editor to believe this particular newbie needed a "gentle introduction".

Cheers, thanks for the welcome, and keep up the good work! --OliverCromwell 22:42, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Image Categorisation

I think we're ready to start in on categorising the wiki's images, please read the instructions on that page, and then if there are any further questions, ask on the talk page (or my own page). We've got a big job ahead :) -- boxytalk • 01:22 2 December 2007 (BST)

How do you time stamp a sig like this one-  HeroSV Is From The Moors ?

I suppose I should say I'm sorry...

I am not familiar with what is considered vandalism and what is not on this wiki. I have seen instances of additions that would most certainly be vandalism (For instance, using Death Rattle speech in areas where it would be totally inappropriate, that have not been deleted or moved to another, more appropriate location. I would like to see your standards on what this wiki would consider vandalism. Also, I did not know that such a technical error existed. I apologize, as more often than not I have seen people exaggerate their claims of conquest (like I have done at least once) to the point of utter lies. And so I'm sorry. I promise it won't happen again.--Dedling 14:30, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Wiki Help: Part Deux

Hey Rev, I made this page for the mob called, The MOB Locator based off of The Second Big Bash page.

Could you make some sort of a template that we could use on the page to replace the Second Big Bash template that is already on there? It doesn't have to be anything crazy, and if you want, you can even just knock off theirs and just tweak it a bit. But I have no idea how to do templates, so any help you could give me would be cool. Thanks.

PS: I've always thought your user page is very aesthetically tasteful, so if you have any ideas about the layout or text colors of the MOB Locator, or anything like that, feel free to make a suggestion. Thanks again. --BrainsTasty 10:33, 31 May 2008 (BST)
