Lunatic Mode

I liked your idea so much, I've started a Lunatic Mode character too. Meet Nick Lester! http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=1625068 Oh, and to make things even more deranged, I'm counting the DSS phone as something in the bag slot. Although it can't be dropped... Oh well.

Also, I wanted to know if with only one weapon, it could be on the back slot instead of equipped all the time? Cheers! --Visible One 03:11, 1 October 2009 (BST)

Timmah wishes you the best of luck with Lunatic mode and may attempt to find you and eat you :P -- Emot-argh.gif 23:41, 17 October 2009 (BST)
Har har har!!!! There is no hiding from me. Seeeeeeeeee, I told you I wasn't such a bad person :D -- Emot-argh.gif 18:49, 18 October 2009 (BST)
I stole some of your clay >_> -- Emot-argh.gif 22:23, 19 October 2009 (BST)
Na, i saw that. I have no clue how to go beyond the 3 accounts i have now. I tried once to do a 4th but signing in by proxy isnt worth it. 1/2 the time is signs you out. Besides im trying to establish a settlement in Terra Nullis right now >_> -- Emot-argh.gif 21:43, 21 October 2009 (BST)
I spoke nicely to Wyn about it, and she said, Your actions would dictate if we were allowed or not. We havent been clobbered, just a few random dazings of which we have plenty of poultice. -- Emot-argh.gif 05:38, 22 October 2009 (BST)
this is kinda public so i wont post some details, but i kinda had it expunged by St Germaine, i told Wyn some stuff. It obviously affected our little unsteady dont harm us truce thingy...yea. -- Emot-argh.gif 04:10, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
I hope you'd forgive me for completely forgetting about checking the wiki and playing Shintolin. :P RinKou 19:50, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

Re: Your comment on Alt Proximity Warning

Do I have a reputation for rebutting people? o_O Aichon 18:52, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

You? Not really. I'm just assuming it's going to be a lot of zerg accusations, given the nature of the suggestion. Then I remembered you can't respond to Kill votes unless you're author if it's not DS :| RinKou 19:07, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Ah, gotcha. I had figured it was somehow related to either me or the suggestion being long-winded (both of which are true, I should think). What you say makes better sense though. Aichon 19:17, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Guides/Review#Guides:Short_simple_guide_to_staying_alive

It just reads like a guide for newbies, written by a newbie.

Could you expand on that - esp the last part? I found "1st Day" to be very vague and unspecific, it didn't deal with a lot of key points, wasted time on others ("guns" and "dna" - which have nothing to do with a "first day"), and I have to doubt that a "newbie" could pull out half the details I did. Just curious what specifically makes you say that - (but thanks for the sympathy!) ;D --Swingin' Sam 10:41, 31 August 2010 (BST)

Well, on first note, you're only giving advice for one class, and one style of build - the one that relies on combat skills, particularly fireman combat skills to gain XP, whereas First Day has a cursory overview for each class. Having played each class a couple times, DNA extraction is definitely my favorite way to gain XP, since in an orange suburb, you have nearly 100% chance of XP gain on each zombie you extract. No need for ammo, either. Playing a scientist is counter-intuitive to an early combat build, though, in any case, so it wouldn't work with your guide.

Besides that, though, a lot of your tips seem helpful on the surface, but in practice, not so much. Reporting zombie numbers tends to be seen as trenchy behavior, and is largely useless anyway. What's important is how many zombies are getting in, not how many are outside. Any feral survivor worth their salt is going to do their own scouting, and any survivor in a group already has the info in the metagame, so no need to waste AP on it. Speaking is better used to pull defenders over to newly repaired buildings, or falling TRPs adjacent, or not more than 3 blocks away. Otherwise, the likelihood of anybody caring drops immensely. You can waltz into a PD with over 50 people and tell them to lend a few guys to defend the NT next door you just rebuilt, and you're not going to get more than one person in response.

Plus, telling new players to look out for ZSpies and PKers isn't a good idea this early in the game, especially if you're giving it to them with a pro-survivor bias. You're instilling paranoia, and not the good, atmospheric kind. You're just going to get gungg-ho trenchies who will want to come onto the wiki and then complain about PKing.

One thing that would definitely give your guide a boost, though: tell them where and how to search. Not everybody's played this kind of game before, and in a more traditional RPG or text-based game, you're taught to search everywhere, but only once. Stuff like that's what got me killed on my first day. Searching streets and stuff looking for dropped weapons :P

All in all, it's not a bad guide - for somebody playing a fireman. But as a general player's guide, it's just not up to par. If you'd rewrite it to cover all the classes, including zombies and PKers, then I'd be all for it, but it wouldn't be so short anymore, would it? :P

Best of luck either way. RinKou 18:17, 31 August 2010 (BST)

Regroup!

I'm trying to get Knights active on my contacts list back together so we can do some coordinated strikes and have a general good time educating Malton.

In short you should check out our temporary home. PM Revenant or DevilAsh for forum access to the Philosophe Knight subforum if you don't have access to it.       19:59, 2 July 2011 (BST)

Don't worry about it :P It's such a shame to see such a cool system go to waste. RinKou 02:17, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
