What can I do for you fellow Gunslinger?--Roland 03:23, 24 April 2009 (BST)

I just wanted to contact the last of our dying breed. We may walk separate paths, but I believe we are more alike than you think. -- THELORDGUNSLINGER 02:59, 27 April 2009 (BST)

That may be. Maybe we need to talk...--Roland 01:38, 30 April 2009 (BST)

Friend

Congratulations on the Purple Heart Roly! You thoroughly deserve it! --  Karth  FoD 14:59, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you Karth!! Roland

I'm still here Roly. Just can't frequent the UD world as much. RL issues. New demanding job for instance. ;) I'll return soon enough. --  Karth  FoD 14:15, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Howdy Roly. Cheers for the easy acceptance into the FoD, and here's hoping we share many a massacre of flotsam in future! --Peter McGrady 03:25, 3 September 2008 (BST)

Foe

First of all, I don't think we are/need to be foes, but this seems to be the section for negative comments. I would like to know why you chose to call DEM zergers and one of our communication tools a cheat. You may choose to make us your enemy, you may dislike the degree of metagaming that's common among the DEM's groups. But neither cheating nor zerging is in any way supported by DEM leadership, members, structure or tools. So what made you think of us like that?--Paul Power 12:50, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello Paul, First of all the folks that use Demon have an unfair advantage over those who do not have access to it. The reasons are obvious. In my mind it is a form of Zerging as multiple players are giving tons of information to other players without having to do any "real" leg work. Here is a link [1] for you. From the page: What one person sees as legitimate metagaming another may view as unfair advantage or even cheating. If a metagaming action is particularly powerful, difficult to explain In Character or unusual, it is more likely to be viewed by some as unfair. Unsurprisingly, any complaints there are most often come from those not benefiting from the action.

Some view the exploitation of bugs and quirks advantageously to one's character as metagaming. Others view it as cheating. Often common acceptance of an exploit depends on developer reaction and the spirit of the game. There have been numerous cases where developers embraced bug exploits and revelled in the unexpected use of a game's "quirks" such as rocket-jumping in Quake or skiing in Tribes.

The DEM's DEMON (an intelligence sharing tool) caught some flak for being so close to zerging.

For those who seek full character immersion the term Metagaming may be seen as an insult.

I hope I have answered your questions. Happy hunting:)

Thanks for your response. While I am aware of the disunity concerning metagaming and won't tell you how to judge the DEM's use of it, I was and still am displeased with your way of using the terms "cheating" and "zerging". I understand cheating as breaking rules, which we don't. The only form of cooperation that is restricted by UD rules is cooperation between characters played by the same person (extreme form: zerging). While Kevan forbids close coordination, explicitely on the same block, and only suggests staying in different suburbs, DEM's anti-zerging rules are much more restrict.

DEMON allows it's users to have a similar level of knowledge, just as the multiple characters of a zerger have it. The huge difference is though, that in contrast to zergers, DEM members have to coordinate with other people in order to make use of their common knowledge. It's the much harder, often impossible part (due to different timezones etc). Sharing information is something everyone can do - and (nearly) every group does it one way or the other. DEMON is just an efficient, meta-gaming way of doing it. I hope you agree that neither metagaming nor efficient communication are the same as zerging or cheating. --Paul Power 00:08, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

General Chatter

I just noticed that you were rather rudely greeted over on the CGR discussion page. I am sorry about this. I've noticed our members have gotten too proud for their own good.

Best of luck to your group, who I hope would consider joining the PKA.

Sorry.

It's no problem Secruss, it's good to be proud. I do thank you for stopping in to say hi though. We are considering joining the PKA, but as we are just getting started we have a few things to iron out first;).--Roland 15:37, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

I just read Omnus's reply now. As I believe you understand Mr. Secruss, they were simply offering a service, not insinuating the CGR couldn't take care of it's business. The point seems to have been lost with Mr. Omnus. I assure you that having worked with Bruha and Boots with the FOD (R.I.P), they are very good at what they do. I have seen no better trackers in this game. And the third, Kalenium is no slouch either when he's motivated! :) --Hibernaculum 18:20, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

May I ask a Q?

I want to see if i can contract ya group but i can't post on ya forums yet. Can i ask here or wait?--Dragon fang 02:36, 9 June 2008 (BST)

Well Roland, I've been slightly absent from Knight affairs for a week or so, so I really can't say. I know we are indeed either attacking them or preparing to do so. If you pop over to our forum I'm sure my colleagues can get you sorted. We'll give you inside access, of course. --CITIZEN VI 00:59, 22 June 2008 (BST)

Death and Other Minor Inconveniences

Sorry Roly, the RNG dropped you in it. I landed the killing shot on Fetta about two seconds after he got you: http://iamscott.net/1272147312558.html --Unhappydisgustingwow 23:25, 24 April 2010 (BST)
