Now the 2 weeks are up, I'm hoping you will read everything placed at A/PM (if you didn't already) and make your decision with Boxy. --Umbrella-White.pngThadeous OakleyUmbrella-White.png 23:09, 3 August 2010 (BST)

They've already been at it. Boxy's talk is always a good place to check 24 hours before any bid ends, as you will see now.--User:Yonnua Koponen/signature2 23:11, 3 August 2010 (BST)

forum

I'm in the process of setting up some stuff for Manhunt All-Stars, do you know any place that might give us a sub-forum? I don't visit and UD forums unfortunately :( -- 04:49, 5 August 2010 (BST)
OBR or DSS. Probably the latter. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 10:43, 5 August 2010 (BST)
I just reg'd with the DSS, I might talk to someone there closer to the date. ATM all the high level Manhunter's are ready to join the AllStars sept Soph, will ask her on forums soon. -- 14:43, 5 August 2010 (BST)
I'm technically not ready until I get back in the States on Monday,but that doesn't matter. There's still a long time to go. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 14:46, 5 August 2010 (BST)
Well since soph runs the dss, you're sorted. I apologise for the pointless pm's im sending you over there. --RosslessnessWant a Location Image? 14:48, 5 August 2010 (BST)
OMG, that's you! :D -- 15:11, 5 August 2010 (BST)

I could check with the NMC, but I highly doubt it. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 14:33, 5 August 2010 (BST)

Trial Period

I obviouslly have the desire to be a sysop and to uphold the wiki law.
But most of the sysops think I can't handle it, or that I would be useless.
Well, What if you guys made me a mini-sysop. I could vote on vandal cases, I can't ban users though. I can delete pages on A/SD or A/D.
And if over time, you guys think I'm useless to the sysop team, then you can say sianara and demote me back to what I am now. PLEASE! This is all I want in life!(not really that bad, but I want it). So, What do you think, and what do you think the other sysops will think.-- Jerrel tlk (82nd!) (Project Unwelcome!). 21:37, 6 August 2010 (BST)

That's not how it works. You don't fit the criteria to be a sysop, and you don't have community support. This policy (which wouldn't work because of the wiki groups we have atm) would be better suited to people like Thad. He got fairly even support and fits a good amount of the criteria. You should work towards that, instead of asking for trial periods. We shouldn't have to give you the benefit of the doubt, you should compell us to support you.--User:Yonnua Koponen/signature2 21:47, 6 August 2010 (BST)
As Yonn said, there are policies dictating how promotions work, and if Ross or boxy (or anyone else, *cough*) were to promote you without going through the proper procedures, you can bet that they'd be Misconducted and you'd be demoted almost immediately. Besides which, a promotion of the nature you specify isn't even technically possible, since when they promote people, you get everything that the rank can do, not just some parts of it. And the sysops aren't some club that decides whether to let you in or not; it's the community that decides who becomes a sysop, and the 'crats just make the final decision based off of the community. Aichon 22:17, 6 August 2010 (BST)
Technically, you (and every other user) are on a "trial-period" where you can rule in on a case. It's called the A/VB Talk Page. Put your input on a case up there, make a well worded argument, and you'll be able to show people your interest in the system (and maybe even sway a few administrative votes on the case).
Remember: Actions speak louder than words. You can express your desire to be a sysop all you want, but untill you start acting like you deserve the role, you aren't going to get it. If you're wondering how to "act the role," look into all the advice people have been giving you over the past months. ~ Red Hawk One Talk | space for lease 23:09, 6 August 2010 (BST)
Wanting it so bad, seemingly only for the sake of having it, is actually a pretty good reason not to give it to you. Go do something constructive on the wiki -- boxy talkteh rulz 23:34 6 August 2010 (BST)
You see, your problem is that you don't understand politics. Asking to be a sysop is like proposing to be wed. The more you do it, the less people will want to give it to you. Forget the whole concept of you being sysop. Unless someone asks you about it, don't even mention it until someone eventually nominates you. That way, you won't let your own hubris ruin your chances like it is. Focus solely on improving the wiki like any other common person. You know how, and you've clearly been doing this, but what you've done so far just isn't enough. You need to flood the wiki with examples of your devotion to it. Force everyone to see how helpful you are, give helpful opinions even on topics that don't concern you, and make some friends. I really think you could be a sysop one day, but until you're better than every other common person, don't bother with all this sysop stuff. --VVV RPGMBCWS 00:55, 7 August 2010 (BST)
