Project NecroWatch

Greetings Ryiis. As I am unfamiliar with the category system used to... categorize... images I have taken it upon myself to contact you for your guidance in this matter. As you are by now aware the goal of the project I'm working on will eventually have every NecroTech facility in Malton reporting NecroNet scan images. The naming convention (i.e. WhitlockBuildingNecronet.png) has the distinct purpose of requiring users to overwrite previous scan images so as not to create discarded image files, as well as to incorporate them into a standard template interface. I would therefore like to inquire whether a category currently exists for this type of image, or perhaps whether a new category should be created for them (as we are talking about a fair number of images down the road). Let me know what you suggest and I will see to it that this method is employed on all current and future images. --Mobius187 15:53, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Actually, just by taking a look at a few of your links, it looks like [[Category:NecroWatch]] would be best category to put it under. That way, when following the Category link, people will be able to see all of the NT uploads right on the Category page. It is possible that you could also put [[Category:Screenshots]] as it looks like a screenshot right from the game. Let me know if you need any help doing this. Cheers, --Ryiis 16:09, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the assistance in this matter. As noted on my Talk wikipage, you completed about 75-85% of the work and I completed the rest. So yes, I'll be using both categories moving forward. Also, if you happen to have any characters who wish to contribute scan images, especially for locations that are currently showing static, by all means feel free to post them and at the same time add in the appropriate categories. ;) --Mobius187 16:57, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Vandal Banning

It's ok. To be honest I don't strictly think I should have done it that way but I realy couldn't see any other way of sorting it. Seemed to be a deliberate attack on the wiki, if it had worked and he had had a better understanding of the wiki it would have possibly replaced every instance of Gnome's sig on the wiki with the entire suggestions talk page! Oh, and I'm not leaving exactly. I'm going to be, and have been a little less active but I should be back to full strength in a shorter time than I thought actualy.--SeventythreeTalk 22:40, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your faith in me! You seem to be a pretty good user yourself from what i've seen of you, sadly this wiki is in dire need of editors like you. Too many idiot vandals around recently, one of the reasons I'm not realy leaving at the moment. Anyway, I left the person in question a message asking them to justify their actions, I mean, you never know, I guess it could have been a mistake.--SeventythreeTalk 22:51, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Well, I try my best! To be honest, with the Nali thing, and with pretty much every bloody flame war I've seen here on this wiki would be fixed in seconds if people just thought about what they posted for ten seconds before they went ahead and posted it.--SeventythreeTalk 22:58, 13 December 2007 (UTC)

Ya know. If he would have added 300,000 bytes or whatever, it would have probably been impossible to revert without a straight deletion. I tink. You get "you can't save stoopid" kind of error.--  AHLGTG THE END IS NIGH! 00:52, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Image Categorisation

I think we're ready to start in on categorising the wiki's images, please read the instructions on that page, and then if there are any further questions, ask on the talk page (or my own page). We've got a big job ahead :) -- boxytalk • 01:17 2 December 2007 (BST)

Hey, y'know all those AoD images you just did... they're Drama Club images... sorry... we should make a list of groups we've categorised, eh -- boxytalk • 10:18 2 December 2007 (BST)

Foolish Me

I've been deleting them after two weeks, which kinda works around the warning. I'm putting warning on any suggestions between a week and two old, deleting the older ones right now. Feel free to move stuff to the archive thats at least a week old though, unless the page gets a bit more absurd. --Karekmaps?! 09:36, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Break format? What are you talking about? I didn't break the format. Unless you meant that hit enter after your vote thing....I'm just too lazy to do that. --•▬ ▬••▬ • •••• •▬ ▬•▬• ▬•▬ #nerftemplatedsigs 20:52, 28 September 2007 (BST)

On civility..

I always do my best to be as careful and approachable as I can in online discussions, at least partly because I have so many years of Usenet (and Wikipedia, where I was a fairly prominent community member before I resigned) behind me. I suspect that we won't come to agree on the matter of whether having a strong push/rules for civility harm free speech too much, but I'm glad that we've kept it from becoming personal. Take care. --Pgunn 16:58, 27 September 2007 (BST)

Thankyou!

Thanks so much for your moral support! Im pleasently surprised to find this place populated with such decent people. Feel free to use any quote I made, as long as it's not like, realy dumb or something. Glad to have restored a little of your faith in the world. I'ts a beutiful planet, but for some reason some people like geting in the way of that, huh?--Seventythree 23:49, 28 August 2007 (BST)

Hi

I took the liberty to add you to The Wiki Code Stealers group page, since I noticed you are using one of our templates, welcome-- Che -T GC X 00:44, 19 July 2007 (BST)

Thanks

It's nice to know that you're taking an interest in the tactical aspects of the game, and, of course, thanks for reviewing my comments there :)

The real problem w/ organizing resistance against LUE specifically isn't that it is impossible, but that the sheer number of people and / or organized groups required to pull off a successful defense are unlikely to come together in any given place. A lot of people have attachments to their particular Mall, safehouse, suburb, area, etc., and of course everyone has their own playing style. We already really have what we need to be able to hold them, but the real challenges are to get everyone in one place before they hit it, getting everyone "on the same page" (i.e. getting all of the organized groups to form a single coherent and cohesive battle plan), and, probably the biggest challenge of all, convincing all the unafilliated, unorganized survivors (the "sheep," if you will) that there's a good reason that they should stand and fight instead of fleeing in panicked terror as soon as the announcement gets out.

Of course, that isn't to say that stopping LUE is all-important--there were other fights before them, and there will be other fights after them. The magic of Urban Dead is that, no matter where you are or what you're doing, there's always something going on. Most battles generally tend to be fought by organized groups on both sides, but every now and then you'll have those battles that just seem spontaneous, that seem to grow from something small and drag anyone nearby into them. I think that those are really the best kind of battles myself, but there's also a sort of satisfaction in seeing a well-laid plan being pulled off successfully.

At any rate, again it's good to see that you're taking an interest in "the game within the game," and I really hope that you'll stick around for a while. Who knows--give it enough time, and soon you'll have people coming to you to ask questions about stuff ;) At any rate, do your best to stay alive, but, as Ron Burgundy would have said if he were still around, Stay Classy! --Specialist290 02:06, 18 July 2007 (BST)

I liked your reply on the burbs page. If i didnt read that you started playing the game during yahoomas i would have mistaken you for a low profile old time player.
