Does anyone else...

feel depressed when they see this? --Open the Box Org XIII Alts 16:44, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

We should definitely demote rev.--Ross Less Ness Enter Stranger... 16:53, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Can I have his spot? I absolutely wouldn't abuse my powers for fun. --Open the Box Org XIII Alts 16:55, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
What is this earth thing you call "fun"? --Ross Less Ness Enter Stranger... 16:57, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
Mine is probably inflated because i fat finger my comments a lot of time and i get lazy with the preview button. Leads to a lot of minor edits. Didn't Yon do something like this once with graphs and stuff? ~Vsig.png 17:14, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
I've noticed new users' scores tend to drop dramatically when they figure out the preview button. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 17:25, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
For Yon's old data: User:Yonnua Koponen/contribs -- Spiderzed 17:28, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
For the 5th year running I'm the 5th most active user. 5. --Ross Less Ness Enter Stranger... 23:38, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
I prefer yons. Dominating the wiki for years was a good feeling. A ZOMBIE ANT 03:19, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
If I wasn't so lazy, I might pick that up some time. It's the kind of meaningless busy-work that I've always found fascinating. :) --Shortround }.{ My Contributions 11:21, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
There are still 416 users who have actively used the wiki in the last 3 months, with 34 of them making 1+ edits per day on average. The old sys-op promotion guideline of 500 edits in 6 months (=250 edits in 91 days) gets fulfilled by 17 users. among them all current sys-ops but Rev. The wiki might be in decline, but I would have expected things to be worse before I conducted my research. -- Spiderzed 17:19, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
yes--Ross Less Ness Enter Stranger... 17:19, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

What this doesn't catch

...is anything that's a "log" rather than an edit. So no user blocks (which is a big part of what sysops do) are counted. Also, if someone edits their userpage 100 times, that's the same as someone making 100 constructive mainspace edits, or voting on 100 clothing suggestions one at a time. I'm not sure if undone edits still count (they probably do).

Also a note about how to understand these numbers. If you take the User Score and divide it by 91, then that's the average edits per day over the previous 91 days. So Aichon would have an e/d of 25, I would have ~22, Spiderzed ~9.5 etc. Only 5 of us have more than 10 edits per day, and only 25 have more than 2 e/d.

I've spent some time looking at the Active Users page, especially since the first time I noticed it (back in July or so) I was astounded that I had the most edits. Since then, Aichon's overtaken me. But at any given time, only four or five people have been above 2,000 1,000 at any given time. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 17:20, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

Reverted and rollbacked edits are still counted. Deleted edits are not counted. Hence no spambots showing up. -- Spiderzed 17:31, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
What Bob said. I got 170-some edits in 3 months, find 10 productive ones. What this wiki needs is a match and some kerosene. --Open the Box Org XIII Alts 23:00, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

Continuing?

Will you be continuing this, or was it a one-off thing? Just interested. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 20:10, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

As am I. I can't believe I didn't know about this before now. Aichon 21:39, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
I plan to continue that in FebruaryMarch, so that we will always have 23 months at a time covered. -- Spiderzed 22:30, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Good, maybe I can redeem myself and be lower on that list. Fuckin wiki. --K 22:34, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
I made 3000 edits in less than around 3 months once. How the fuck do you think >I< feel?--SA 22:52, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Looking back at Yon's numbers, DDR was pretty insane in mid-2009. He hit 4300ish edits in 3 months at one point. Aichon 23:14, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
I've always suspected DDR was a bot... ;) Bob Moncrief EBDW! 01:08, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
I don't know how a bot could owe me 5 bucks for CS: Source, but I could compromise on him using the wiki as a replacement for sleep.--SA 01:47, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
History purges make it less than easy to remember which time period that was. :( --SA 22:54, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

A quick reminder to myself to grab the raw data tomorrow night or on Friday. I probably won't be able to compute it before the week-end. -- Spiderzed 22:20, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

How's this coming along? :P Aichon 15:55, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
Hint: Stelar and I aren't bots, we promise. Bob Moncrief EBDW! 18:10, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
I hope this grand project will come in as a respectful 3rd after Duke Nukem Forever and Chinese Democracy. -- Spiderzed 14:13, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
