Your Wiki Sockpuppet Policy?

Haven't seen much in the way of a revivsion: Did you make the link for your own eventual alterations, or are you waiting for others to contribute? Just curious, since it seemed like a good idea that needs a bit of work. --MorthBabid 01:40, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Forum Vandal

Some guy has been updating the danger level inaccurately, spreading mis-information, and changing other user's posts for ammusement... guy's name is FullSpectrum... please look into this, he changed the Dangerlevel of Dunell, and West Becktown to high above what it should be, stated the my precinct was destroyed, when we have at least half of it secure, and witch blades quote to "gang bang", i don't know exactly what else's he's done, but i don't think it's his first time vandalizing... thank you for your time. --Marty Banks (aka. Mundane) <DHPD> 19:03, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Reetoric is a sockpuppet of Maxwell Hammer, although he's covering his tracks pretty good he slipped and made a few edits to a couple of pages. have a look at Nailing Down Dangerous Hotheaded Pseudo Dictators and see if that violates the spirit if not the law of Mia's arbitration hearing. I'm getting kinda tired of this crap you know? Conndrakamod T CFT 07:41, 26 October 2006 (BST)

If you report him for that and have IP data showing he is an alt, then I will declare that an arbitration violation.--Gage 07:47, 26 October 2006 (BST)

Did you vote on First Aid Station Suggestion?

She's real close to making it into Peer Reviwed but not quite at 66% voting. It's under previous day's suggestions I think she's on her last day of voting.. I'd like a Keep, but no worries. So many of them go to Undecided lol, even It's Fisting Time! ended up in undecided, lol. Funt Solo has been kicking ass on suggestions, he has a new sniper rifle one, check it out! Tap on the shoulder

Hey, would you mind looking at this and updating the suggestions intro as described? The rules that are struck out are obviously no longer valid because of the template change and we wouldn't want people actually trying to enforce them. Thanks. - Jedaz - 19:43/28/03/2024 02:11, 16 October 2006 (BST)

Have we imported the IP addy Ban list from Wikiperdia yet? Let me know because I want to do a bomb of Known proxies. I have a couple of lists that it would only take a few minutes to ban. Conndrakamod T CFT 06:31, 5 October 2006 (BST)

I've Started the Blocking... I got all of these and these will be moving on to these before I move on to my lists which are these and these respectfully. Once I have most of those logged I'll start searching for other open/zom-slave/anom proxies and drop the hammer on them as well. Conndrakamod T CFT 20:57, 9 October 2006 (BST)

From assassins guild assassin

i did not vandlise the wiki. the wiki is by its nature a bunch of varous info put to gether by various people. when the info is incorrect people change it till it is. i saw the info on there page was wrong and changed it. i will not delete the entire page like i have done in the past but i will change any and all pages to show the correct infomation. --ag 18:52, 3 October 2006 (BST)

hey xoid just wondering im pretty sure theres no rules on this but i wanted to make sure lest i be banned again. i want to make a new group called "Philosophe Knights " problem being that the group name is already taken. now theres no rules saying i cant make a group(and i plan on mantaining the page) but what happens when two groups have the same name? do we share the page? or is there a rule stateing exactly that first come first serve? --ag 18:52, 3 October 2006 (BST)
Ha! No, you do not get rights to edit their page. I wouldn't advise making a page of a similiar name in an attempt to impersonate them either lest they bring an arbitration case down on your head. –Xoid MTFU! 09:19, 3 October 2006 (BST)
Hey.. It would be possible to create a page called "Penis Formation Masses" or something like that and then change PFM to disambiguation page. Right? Most PFM links are there, because they were too lazy to write their whole name. I'm not saying that I WOULD do it. I'm saying that it would be possible. *wink* *wink*... --Niilomaan GRR!M! 10:41, 3 October 2006 (BST)
That would also be vandalism. Changing the PFM redirect into a {{disambig}} page instead wouldn't be. –Xoid MTFU! 11:57, 3 October 2006 (BST)
What would be vandalism? To create a group with dirty name? --Niilomaan GRR!M! 12:47, 3 October 2006 (BST)
Modifying the redirect to point there, and most likely the name too, for that matter. –Xoid MTFU! 12:48, 3 October 2006 (BST)
so then how do i make a new group page for my new group called the "Philosophe Knights" ? im not gonna try to impersonate them it will be similur but different.--ag 18:52, 3 October 2006 (BST)
You don't. –Xoid MTFU! 05:18, 4 October 2006 (BST)
is there a rule saying i cant?--ag 21:00, 4 October 2006 (BST)
No, there isn't but if you really want an arbitration case lodged against you, then feel free. Believe me, it will come. –Xoid MTFU! 07:21, 5 October 2006 (BST)
how can a case be logged againest me if i havent broken any rules?--ag 18:13, 5 October 2006 (BST)
since you havent replied to my meesage im gonna asume that a case wont be logged against me if i start up a group called "Philosophe Knights" and start adding to my new groups page.....unless we can have two pages of the same name?--ag 07:37, 8 October 2006 (BST)
Because arbitration isn't about punishing people for breaking rules, it's about stopping people from doing things that other people don't like. What are the odds the Philosophe Knights are going to enjoy your lil' ploy? Nada. So I'd expect an arbitration case from them the moment you do make a page with the same name as them (or close enough to cause confusion) — it wouldn't be surprising in the least knowing your history with them. –Xoid MTFU! 10:52, 8 October 2006 (BST)
So your saying i could log a case againest you for swearing at me? you did so earlyer in an e-mail, which i still have. i dont like swearing and if i follow your logic i could log a case againest you for it.--ag 19:29, 8 October 2006 (BST)
Please don't start a case againest xoid, because if you start your case againest him, he'll be permabanned and we need him. Please don't think againest the children.--Thari TжFedCom is BFI! 19:47, 8 October 2006 (BST)
I don't like the fact your making fun of my spelling. does that mean i can bring a case up on you?--ag 01:53, 9 October 2006 (BST)
I don't like your presence here on the wiki. Does that mean I can bring a case against you? --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! B! 10:34, 9 October 2006 (BST)
Thats exactly my point. if we allow arbiration cases, just for the fact that you dont like something someone has done, everyone would be at each others throats. so what are the rules for logging an arbirtion case? because "stopping people from doing things that other people don't like" is way too broad a statment.--ag 02:20, 10 October 2006 (BST)
Arby's cases are (well, are supposed to be) a last resort. It's not anyone's fault but your own if you abuse them. Besides, if a case is plainly frivolous, the Arbitrator is able to warn whoever started it. It pretty much manages itself. Jjames and Amazing are perhaps the only two people who've made abusing the system a habit. So it's not as bad as you make it out to be, really. Usually, Arby's cases are pretty rare. --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! B! 07:14, 10 October 2006 (BST)
But are there any set rules to how/why a case can be brought up?--ag 23:32, 10 October 2006 (BST)
No, as you cannot plan for every single situation. Don't bother trying to come up with any; they'll be shot down. Seriously. --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! B! 07:14, 11 October 2006 (BST)

Something I shall tell you

I've gone and told Bob Hammero this as well. Anyway because of this policy, I've put my foot in the shit because of a few comments I've made that I don't really wish to follow through with. I've decided one of two things, I can either get the "you're all clear" from you and Bob Hammero and I'll be fine and not do anything, or I can just commit this act of "vandalism" that I said thus the intent is gone because it's already done. I'm hoping I can get the "you're all clear" otherwise I'll have to vandalise so I don't get kicked off the wiki and demodded. Well what do you think about this? Oh and Cyberbob, don't comment on this, your comments arn't needed and it doesn't involve you. - Jedaz - 19:43/28/03/2024 14:19, 18 September 2006 (BST)

Quick question

Hey, I was wondering what rules and policys there are in relation to signatures and peoples name spaces. I wanted to do some reading up on it and since policy discussion doesn't help for older policys and I have no real clue where to look. If you could point me in the right direction or to some actual policys it'ld be a big help. Thanks. - Jedaz - 19:43/28/03/2024 09:17, 15 September 2006 (BST)

The Fifth Horseman vs Akule Arbitration ruling clarification request

The Fifth Horseman

You really need to watch him, as according to his user page, he has quit the game, yet he vandalizes pages on here two week later. The arbitration was his idea to begin with and now that he is done with the game, it seems he is done with the arbitration. --Ahote 01:25, 10 September 2006 (BST)

Arbitration

In the Bob H v. God arb case, I'm wondering if an idea that I'm considering attaching to my ruling would be kosher. Warning?

That was for fucking with Amazing's "Amazingiswatching" page. –Xoid

I didn't blank or really deface that page, I added the "nowiki" tags to break what it was doing. According to an arbitration ruling that template was being used improperly to put text outside the user area on the Crossman Defense Force page. I understand this wiki has rules meant to protect users from vandals, but it doesn't really seem like vandalism to me, and Amazing no longer needs his legal team(The General) as he can no longer contribute. -- Rueful 18:43, 30 June 2006 (BST)

I guess it was stupid of me to assume that a banned user would no longer own a wiki page. Case closed. -- Rueful 18:54, 30 June 2006 (BST)
The ruling in hagnat vs. Amazing was:
  • "Only usable on pages owned by the user himself.
  • only 25 characters of plain text, no pictures, no links, no line breaks. no changing of font size, no nothing. the only thing allowed is standard roman characters. the only deviations are capital letters, italics and bolding. changing font color is also allowed.
  • all other normal editing limitations apply."
Since Amazing still owns his user page, banned or not; the title (if I recall correctly) followed the formatting conventions; and it didn't break any other editing limitations, it was allowed. Thus, vandalism. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 19:27, 30 June 2006 (BST)

The vandalism I was reffering to was when you blanked the entire page, I left the latest lot because it was bold text which could be interpritated as a violation of the arbitration ruling. I've removed the bold tags.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 19:31, 30 June 2006 (BST)

That, however, was allowed. "the only deviations are capital letters, italics and bolding. changing font color is also allowed." –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 19:34, 30 June 2006 (BST)
Thanks, missed that. That means that he has now vandalised twice. Once adding the noninclude tags to Amazing's page, and again in removing the bold tags on my page.--The General T Sys U! P! F! 19:40, 30 June 2006 (BST)

I was unsure where to put this, so I thought i'd check up with you beforehand. I have met a particular person with my zombie alt who lives in south Blyville named Duplicity. The zombie account has attacked and been attacked by Duplicity 3 4 5 and 6. All in south blyville. It seems obvious this person is a zerger, but I thought i'd check things up with you first.--Brendoshi 17:53, 23 June 2006 (BST)

No. Don't be idiotic. That was the moron who has a hardon for Amazing; the same one who loved to get into edit wars with Amazing over Amazing's user page. The edit summaries from one day looked a little bit like:
Stop editing my page you fag! - Amazing

Stop editing my page you fag! - Amaz'ing

etc…
Xoid MTFU! 10:41, 13 June 2006 (BST)
Hey. No need for that. I missed all that drama. --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! B! 11:03, 13 June 2006 (BST)
I did bring that up during the misconduct case. I thought something that we argued in depth over would've stuck in your memory. Hell, Amaz'ing was the guy I perma banned, starting the misconduct case for fuck's sake! You got a really short memory, or have you been headshot a little too often of late? TOS

According to Kevan, this wiki is hosted by Poundhost. So it looks like this is the TOS we want. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 07:00, 6 June 2006 (BST)

1(a) in there seems to fit this particular situation to a tee. --Jimbo Bob ASSU! 07:11, 6 June 2006 (BST)
"1a: Upload, post or otherwise transmit any Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene (illegal pornography), libellous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable. Please note public IRC services may not be run on our network. Contact us for clarification where needed."
"1c: Impersonate any person or entity or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity. Forge headers or spoof or monitor/sniff IP packets."
Should be enough. I did think that the registrar's TOS for the domain name itself would take precedence though. –Xoid MTFU! 07:16, 6 June 2006 (BST)
Really? I thought it would be the host. Not that it really matters -- they both basically say the same thing: don't do this shit.Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 07:42, 6 June 2006 (BST)

Found It

At least, I think so: here. Looks like a policy document. What do you think? How set in stone is this? –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 10:02, 5 June 2006 (BST)

Fuck. Seems concrete to me. –Xoid MTFU! 10:08, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Thanks for your help. I responded to Kevan. Remember though, this is a Wiki, so things aren't set in stone, and Kevan isn't defending Amazing. Things obviously need to change. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 10:14, 5 June 2006 (BST)
It's a policy document. It has been contested before IIRC, and failed miserably. We couldn't get that "no swearing" thing through, I mean fuck, I voted against it. (I hate censorship. This is different though, this is clearly slander, as it's not even stated to be his opinion but instead as fact. Might also be libel.) –Xoid MTFU! 10:18, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Might even be illegal. Joking or not, his talking about selling photos of that nature is not only disgusting, unspeakably tasteless and rude, and just (I'm not quite sure how to put it, fucking really bad, OK?), but also possibly against the law. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 10:20, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Hey! Can I be involved? What can I do? --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! 10:23, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Don't know. I responded to Kevan, so we'll see what he says. (And I know Amazing's just flinging shit around, but really, the kind of stuff he's pretending to sell? ... Pulling the "legal" string is a stretch, but anything to get that taken down.) –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 10:28, 5 June 2006 (BST)
What are the TOS for this host? Fuckity. I might have just violated them. Fuckity. If so, getting rid of Amazing might be amazingly easy. Fuckity. –Xoid MTFU! 10:31, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Assuming that I found the right one (someone want to double check the whois for me?), the TOS look huge. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 10:33, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Eh? What the hell are you on about? --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! 10:33, 5 June 2006 (BST)
TOS = Terms of Service. WHOIS = WHOIS. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 10:37, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Yup, UD is with 123. Their TOS are the ones to use. –Xoid MTFU! 10:42, 5 June 2006 (BST)
"5.1.2 not use the Services, Ancillary Systems and/or Client System or allow them to be used for any unlawful purpose or for the publication, linking to, issue or display of any unlawful material (including any pirated software or any material which is obscene, pornographic, threatening, malicious, harmful, abusive, defamatory or which breaches the rights including Intellectual Property Rights of any third party or which is or encourages criminal acts or contains any virus, worm, trojan horse or other harmful code) whether under English law or regulation, the laws or regulations of the Client's country or any other place where the results of such purpose or the material in question can be accessed;" –Xoid MTFU! 10:47, 5 June 2006 (BST)
So the question is, since (I assume) Amazing is full of shit on this, how far do we want to push it? –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 10:49, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Maybe just the threat of taking it all the way would be enough. --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! 10:50, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Or maybe we should bring this to Kevan's attention? I don't want to piss him off though. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 10:52, 5 June 2006 (BST)
"5.1.4 not use the Services, Ancillary Systems and/or Client System or allow them to be used in breach of good Netiquette practices;" Whoops, looks like I can perma-ban anyone blanking their talk page from now on. >:E
Kevan now not only has the power, but the legal obligation to remove it. If Amazing dares to do it again, kthxbaibaihaetu!… GONESKIES! –Xoid MTFU! 10:54, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Xoid, I would like you to do the honors of informing our benevolent leader that he is required to remove the dark lord from the wiki. Because when I run for mod, I want to stand a chance of being accepted. ;-) –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 10:56, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Still, I think we should give Amazing the chance to remove the offending content from his page (and let's not forget Scinfaxi's comments about his beard on Scinfaxi's talk page). --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! 10:56, 5 June 2006 (BST)
I disagree. I think the content should disappear into the night for Amazing, and he can wake up to a nice fat warning about violating the TOS of the web host. As far as Scinfaxi goes, yes, he's in poor taste, but not even approaching as bad as Amazing. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 10:59, 5 June 2006 (BST)
I don't care if I can, it is someone else's duty to deal with them. I am too embroiled in this bull as it is, and am recusing myself from any use of moderator powers in regards to clearing this up. –Xoid MTFU! 11:02, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Still, would you mind leaving Kevan a little "hey check this out" link? Maybe just send him to this discussion and let him decide? –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 11:04, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Same here. There's just too much potential of fucking up bigtime for mine. However, if Kevan were to do it... assuming, that is, if we can persuade him to. --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! 11:05, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Never said I wouldn't nudge him in the right direction, just that if push comes to shove; someone else gets the pleasure of banning him. –Xoid MTFU! 11:09, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Maybe Kevan will be nice and let you me ban him... *goes off into a daydream* --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! 11:10, 5 June 2006 (BST)

It might work. But this should be done by kevan not us, as it'll open a wasps' nest of trouble if we did it. I don't want to go and interpetate the service contract in ways to benefit us in our task. If kevan doesn't act on it lets concentrate upon oddstarters policy proposal. that would solve our troubles and although it wouldn't be perfect it is a better solution then us using a particular interpretation of the service contract.--Vista 17:42, 5 June 2006 (BST)

I personally think that all of the hateful, vindictive bullshit on this wiki needs to go (as, ironically, Amazing claims he does as well). I just think that Amazing is going about things in the entirely wrong way, assuming that he's being honest about his intentions. In any regard, something needs to change, whether by TOS or wiki policy. If I weren't a somewhat seasoned user of this wiki, I would be long gone from the kind of crap I've seen thrown around here lately. (I just hope that all of this isn't considered more involvement in the drama, since I intend to run again for mod.) –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 20:07, 5 June 2006 (BST)

Sacred User Pages

Where exactly is it said that user pages are so protected? I need to respond to Kevan. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 09:22, 5 June 2006 (BST)

Buried. Deep. Probably in one of the archives somewhere. (Sorry I can't help, it ain't easy to remember something you saw a couple of times about 2 months back.) –Xoid MTFU! 09:25, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Any clues on where to look, or what kind of decision it was (actual policy or arbitrator opinion)? –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 09:26, 5 June 2006 (BST)
It was older than wikigate, I remember that much. I think it might have been an old policy. You check policies, I'll check <wikigate arb cases. –Xoid MTFU! 09:27, 5 June 2006 (BST)
I obviously haven't read everything in full, but I've checked M/PD, M/PD/Group Pages, M/PD/Offensive Language, M/PD/archive, M/Locational Language/Interaction, M/PD/Amazing, and M/PD/Archive. Anything I missed? The closest it came was this section, but it doesn't talk about user/talk pages, just group pages. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 09:38, 5 June 2006 (BST)
I'll start looking in Arbitration now too. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 09:39, 5 June 2006 (BST)
One possibility here in point two. Pretty vague though, and part of wikigate. –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 09:45, 5 June 2006 (BST)
Hm… maybe there is hope. –Xoid MTFU! 09:51, 5 June 2006 (BST)
I'm having a lot of trouble finding anything else. For something people shout about so much, it's sure hidden, isn't it? –Bob Hammero ModB'cratTA 09:53, 5 June 2006 (BST)

I've thrown it up anyway, because even if this current situation is resolved, it would be useful to figure out what, exactly, the policy is, so we can make simpler decisions in future. -- Odd Starter talkModW! 11:23, 5 June 2006 (BST)

Eeeeeek!

Hi Xoid, I was just on a bit of a revival patrol when i found this guy (in zombie form): http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=681297 When i clicked on Mr Addictedtopain's realname link, my browser (firefox) went insane and started throwing new windows everywhere and for a disturbingly long time would not even respond to the 3-Fingered-Salute. The link his realname "JIM BOWEN" connects to is: http://napalm.on.nimp.org DON'T CLICK THERE! (unless you maybe disable some kind of scripts or something, I dunno but it was pretty awful for me I can tell ya!)

So I dunno whether this character should get deleted or what, but i thought their linkthingy sucked. Kind Regards, Sassie 12:48, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Image Deletion Request

I uploaded an image for use in one of my templates, but have since found a different image already on the wiki that would better suit the task. Image Size?

I thank you for your help. However, I am a mite confused. You say the image was amazingly big, and yet I see no difference in physical size, unless it's the bytes that's changed. In any case, thank you for your help. Torec T-CC 12:57, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Ah, then thank you. I've always just preferred PNGs because I was under the impression that they would have the best quality compared to the other file formats out there. However, I cannot really tell any difference between the two. Good day then, and good playing. Torec T-CC 13:04, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

May I make a request?

Good evening. I am hopelessly clueless on issues of formatting and whatnot, my only vain attempts coming after I can essentially copy the formatting used by others. Currently I am trying to make a template for the Malton Herald & Sun. If you would be kind enough to send me a sample template code (preferably in red and black) that I can use as the basis for building a template, I would greatly appreciate it. Just post it on my talk page. Thank you for your time. -- Murray Jay Suskind -- 26 October 2006, 7:20 EDT

Thanks for getting back to me. I was thinking that the Masthead would be the main part of the template (hence the asking for black and red). As for text... "This user or group supports the Malton Herald & Sun, the official mouthpiece of the RRF." I'm not shooting for anything too complex (at least, I hope I'm not). So if you're able to help, again, I'd appreciate it.

Revive Point

Hello lean mean deletion machine. Just a small question or request if you will. I was wondering if you could look over my idea for revive points. It's located here and I was just wondering if you know of any reason I could start to use the ideas on there and apply my new list to the page.

I did create the page to gage the opinion of the community although it has been ignored by most I did get a good enough response to start looking at the changes and also the DEM seem to be able to chage their revive tool to match it. Just let me know. Cheers. Pillsy FT 14:22, 20 October 2006 (BST)

Central Malton

Hey, Xoid, since you know more about templates than I do, I figured I'd direct this to you. There's something wrong with the template on the Central Malton wiki page. The "important buildings and events" section doesn't show up. I've got no idea what the problem is, so if you could help me fix it, I'd be grateful! Stay Classy! --Ron Burgundy 21:33, 14 October 2006 (BST)

Thankyou

I would like to thankyou for un-banning me. I realize I said some stupid things and that I probably won't be trusted around here for a long while. But I'ld like to think that maybe some time in the not too distant future that maybe we can trust eachother once again. Well I'll give you my word as an editor on all wikis that I will not, ever, make a single bad faith edit to the Urban Dead Wiki no matter how tempting it may get sometimes. Strange, I was actually going to apologise to you. Someone let it slip that you're curious about why I did it [the unbanning], and I'll explain now that I came to the decision purely on my own. I wasn't prompted by Kevan, I'll never give into blackmail, and even now I contend that all but one of those who defended you had irredeemably flawed arguments. In a case where everyone's arguments were flawed to some degree or another, mine was the one with a subtle, fatal flaw. No one noticed it, not even me, until the debate was well under way. I'm sorry for having wasted your time. –Xoid MTFU! 08:38, 10 October 2006 (BST)
Hey, don't worry about it. One of my qualitys is that I'm a very forgiving person, I just can't keep a grudge for long in most cases (there are some exceptions). It's quite interesting though, people gave me way to much credit for what I know, Mia and Karlsbad both thought I was using a proxy, but no one bothered to ban my IP in the first place so I didn't even need to attempt to try and use one. Well I'm glad that you came to your own decision on the issue. - Jedaz - 19:43/28/03/2024 08:58, 10 October 2006 (BST)

I set up a page for a group called 'the league of bastards' the page has been taken down or something. I don't know why this would have happened. Locations Creations

I saw on your userpage that you've helped with fixing locations and making others. I've done some myself, with locationblock and blockmerge, but it's quite tedious. Is there a quicker way to do it outside of plugging variables into the templates and having to alt tab to a suburb map and alt tab back to the location I'm editing? I suppose I'm asking if someone has created a php script or something similar to the automated "defense plan" creations I've seen that make a colored table marking "VSB" etc. that can be found here.

You voted: Spam - This is a completely ridiculous suggestion with no merit whatsoever, what the fuck are you complaining about?

My response: It has ridiculous elements, yes. However, there are some good concepts mixed in with the crap. As such, the suggestion is only incompletely ridiculous, and thus unworthy of Spamination. Also, most of the Spam voters appear to be voting Spam merely because MrAushvitz made the suggestion. I'd wager that if anyone else had suggested it, most of thse Spams would be Kills instead.

Yet Another question from Vulnavia:

Dearest Mr. Xoid, I'm a rather curious girl by nature and I just found out about the firefox-graphical-mini-map (The one with the cute little pictures of all the buildings) and I'm absolutely dying to find out what Club Vaughan looks like on it! I don't have access to the mini-map and I'm wondering if either you or any of the tons of people you know do have it? I'm getting kinda anticipate-y and I'm pretty close to offering some kind of reward to ANYBODY who will give me a screen-shot of Club Vaughan! (I guess it's my somewhat perfectionistic side showing itself: I don't want my descriptions of Club-V to clash with the only actual depicted image of it (that I know of anyway...))So hopefully you know of someone? (Or someone else reading this knows of someone?) Please? Anxiously Awaiting Your Answer, Vulnavia 22:21, 18 August 2006 (BST)

P.S. Anyone else reading this who can snag me a screen-shot, PLeAsE(!) Either email the NL or leave a msg on either my or its talk-page! Vulnavia 22:21, 18 August 2006 (BST)
P.P.S. Argh. I forgot to say this: I want to put the firefox-mini-map pic of Club Vaughan on the splendiferous Club Vaughan wiki-page. Is that allowed? I noticed no-one else has ever done that...Vulnavia 23:18, 18 August 2006 (BST)
Disappointing yet interesting. Before you replied, I was just thinking that if all the buildings had individual images it must have been hard to make that mini-map: (I don't have really good math skills) but that would be upwards of one thousand graphics that someone had drawn by hand! About the pic being wonky and all: I don't have any experience with firefox, and I don't know if this would actually work with it, but I was thinking of pressing "alt" & "print-screen" to capture a screen-shot of the map while it's on-screen and then pasting the rough screen-shot into either "irfanview" or plain-old-"paint" (or whatever) and then cropping out the unwanted parts and then saving just the shot of the mini-map as a gif (or whatever) and then putting the gif-ified image on the wiki-page. Would that work any better? Or is it still a no-no? (I'd actually be content just to see what the "club" pic looks like (but I think that's just my semi-perfectionistic anal-retentive inner-voice-demon nagging me again: "Seek perfection! Seeeeeek!") Anyway! Hoping for a metheod that works, Vulnavia 22:04, 19 August 2006 (BST)

I would have done that, had I known that they were vandalised. I've never come across this sort of thing before. How'd you figure it out? –Xoid MTFU! 13:55, 16 August 2006 (BST)
That they were vandalized in that way? You notice it when the rest of the wiki loads fine bit that one page doesn't, it kinda gives it away. I've seen it once or twice before on this wiki, it's a pain but easily fixed. - Jedaz 13:59, 16 August 2006 (BST)
Very strange. I'll bear that in mind. This should also be written up as a "special case workaround", and added to the docs. I'll get to it. –Xoid MTFU! 14:04, 16 August 2006 (BST)

Message from Lo Meng re: Zoo Enclosures

Hi there...you asked me why I created a new page just for the Reptile House. I'm on the Board of Directors with The Malton Zookeepers and I'm the director of communications. One of my tasks was to clean up and generally improve our representation on the wiki. I made a separate page for each of the enclosures and intend to flesh out the description for each, as well as maintain those pages. I hope that makes things clearer. If it's really horribly objectionable to you, then let me know, but I do intend to maintain the pages to whatever degree that maintenance is required. --Lo Meng 06:30, 13 August 2006 (BST)

Message received. I understand your concern. I already made the proper links from the City Zoo main page to the different pages for each of the enclosures, and am slowly but surely adding content to each enclosure's page (Reptile House and Aquarium are already finished). As of right now reports on the status of the enclosures are managed at the Zookeepers forum, which is open to the public and available here but if it becomes necessary to ask people to move specific reports to specific pages, I'll take care of it. I'll also be accountable for re-merging the pages into one if that's what ultimately needs to be done. Thanks for noticing the zoo. --Lo Meng 06:40, 13 August 2006 (BST)

I'm sorry if this sounds dense. From what I can tell, the changes you made are to the templates that create the maps on each page, and those won't have to be made again, right? I am sorry those were done incorrectly and thanks for fixing them. Is there any other issue with the pages I made that could be a problem as I update them? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lo Meng (talkcontribs) .

Heh. Well thank you for your help. I'm honestly not sure I would have done the locationblock thing right even if I had read the whole LSG beforehand.

Re: Second Warning

(hope this is in the right spot) I'm more than a little confused. I was sick of seeing 'cheaters' painted inside of morrish every other day prob and made the grave error of using a strike through on the history page on the UNSIGNED zed entry, no matter how 'evidence free' the accusations of barricade bots and cheating are. However, there is no reason for the repeated deletion of my recent entry :

August 6th, 2006 MORRISH NT becomes the symbol for conspiracy theories, sore losers and whiners everywhere as the burb goes green for the first time in a month. Still plagued by Stallone's, and PKr's, survivors start a building by building search for remaining targets in the neighborhood, while enjoying copious amounts of free beer. --Samual Clemons

-this entry is neither in bad faith, nor is it untrue. Can you please explain to me why it's OK for a zed to accuse everyone in Pitneybank of cheating in Pitneybanks history repeatedly, but it's not ok for a survivor to note that this is the behavior of sore losers? That's just nonesense! If the Aug 6th entry is NOT ok, then neither are entries that accuse Pitneybank of cheating sans hard (or any) evidence. SC has now retreacted some more of the heresay evidence in the discussion page for Pitneybank. Please reinstate this entry, or remove ALL entries from the history that show any bias. 1. No, and I don't see how that analogy applies.
  2. I said no such thing. I said that simply because you're in the majority doesn't always mean you're right on fact-based issues, which the discussion revolved around during the early stages of you using that argument.
  3. I'm not. In addition, you've used this argument several times and have yet to rationalize it. This isn't a review so much as it is the ban. As for your cops analogy, the temporary, mod-imposed ban represents the arrest, the voting is the trial, and the appeals can be through e-mail, as you've said.
  4. Yes, I know. I'm not suggesting it because I think it'll be faster or more efficient, I'm suggesting it because, as I've said, I like democracy and think the inconvenience is worth it.

You have yet to actually rationalize/give an example of that. I'm not shoving anything anywhere, if you want to disagree, go ahead. 3.00? Re: our Order of Posts vs thy Order of Contents

but Xoid, dear fellow, your beautiful Contents Listy Thing, with the quicky-clicky access to the topic in question, runs top-to-bottom and so no-one wants to post at the top of the lists because it would be out of sequence, and un-numberable (unless, like me, you flog the number n-point-00...) so, er, um, how do you want this done, or will the Wiki wikimatically renumber every item in the list later? We fears to makes work for thee! Sassie 15:47, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

MediaWiki automatically renumbers entries in the TOC when a new heading is added/inserted. As long as a third level heading is used for new messages, there's no problems with numbering. Most recent at the top, oldest at the bottom. The less scrolling that needs to be done, the better. I could always try Grim s' way of doing things; but that tends to require more scrolling, in my experience, and is less intuitive than my style. Matter of preference when it comes down to it. –Xoid MTFU! 01:07, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank's for being the biggest backstabber I have ever had the "joy" of meeting in my life. Thank you so much Xoid, you've probably fucked me over as royally as you possibly could have, without physically inserting your penis, into my Anus. Your a fucking douche, and you should be exxpecting some major payback soon.

You deserve even worse, you backstabbing piece of shit. --CaptainM 05:39, 5 October 2006 (BST)

It was the most literal sense of an utter accident. I was on my way to Darvall heights, see someone with a D name for the Alphabet game, and kill him, then move on. I didn't look at the building I was in, or even the suburb. It took Gage showing me that image on my talk page to realize what Ihad done. I'm not trying to condone it, as theres no way to prove that it was an accident, if I had realized that this was some hardcore zergin at the time, I obviously wouldn't have done it, but it's kindof hard when you kill someone, then go back to your safehouse and on the way through with the other character, fail to realize you were just there. --CaptainM 07:03, 5 October 2006 (BST)
Four seconds passed between those kills. You simply cannot log out and log back in, and kill someone in that short a time. It's an impossibility. –Xoid MTFU! 07:09, 5 October 2006 (BST)
My bad, four minutes. Regardless, call me skeptical if I have a hard time believing that you managed to forget comitting a PK in a mere four minutes. –Xoid MTFU! 07:19, 5 October 2006 (BST)
It's not so much that I forgot, I was making kills for the Alphabet Game, and I saw somebody with an E name, so I attacked, then later with SM was on my way to Caiger, saw a D name, killed him too. I can't expect anyone really to believe that it was a complete accident, because as Gage said it's a 1/10,000 chance to accidentally make 2 PKs in the same building, and I most certainly wouldn't believe me if I were someone else observing this... --CaptainM 07:33, 5 October 2006 (BST)

You have not done enough to protect my reputation Xoid. I was previously known as a kind, fair headed contributor who caused little or no problems. No look at this SHIT, I am being accused of agitation and destruction. I can't even walk down the wiki street without being criticised or accused of being a vandal. It haunts me. You need to fix this. Right now. --Scinfaxi 09:57, 27 September 2006 (BST)

Also, can I take jjames to vandal banning for bringing the heat down on me? Or would I get banned again? --Scinfaxi 09:58, 27 September 2006 (BST)
You wouldn't get banned, but I don't see there being any chance of your case against him succeeding. So, it'd be pointless. Mainly because it's not actually an act of vandalism. –Xoid MTFU! 12:45, 27 September 2006 (BST)
Did you ever notice how gay the entire wiki is? I mean really, lets stop and think about this. It's a wiki for a game you can play for maybe ten minutes a day. I think trolling and annoying people has got to be the best use of this medium. Really I do. Scinfaxi 00:47, 16 October 2006 (BST)

Cenorship/Arbitration

As a mod, you are aware our page violates no rules. Why then drag us to arbitration? This only further inflames tensions and makes it more difficult to hold reasoned debate. I'm not sure what you think of my motivations or intentions, but know this. I am 100% committed to preserving free speech and an exchange of ideas on the wiki. I feel like I'm fighting for your rights too, xoid. I do have a possible solution though. If we can get Operation Black Storm to focus on black pride and not putting down another race, why not hold both rallys side by side peacefully? What better way to challenge the racist stereotpyes of violent black men and ecil oppressive whites? We can stand in pride together like MLK and Lincoln would have wanted to. --Jjames 04:36, 11 August 2006 (BST)

Can you spell "hypocrite!"? You try to censor Karlsbad, and yet complain to me about the same thing? You try to jam through a new rule in arbitration because of his apt description of you as a "troll lawyer", yet criticise me for using arbitration to jam through a new rule on your idiocy? H. Y. P. O. C. R. I. T. E. –Xoid MTFU! 10:12, 12 August 2006 (BST)
I'm not trying to censor Karlsbad or create a new rule. Karlsbad made a bad faith edit when he said I was Scinfaxi's alt. He can't prove this, so he isn't allowed to state it as fact. Similar to zerging claims have resulted in arbitration before. I have already said I'd be satisfied with him clarifying that he can't prove his opinion and not making a statement of fact about it. The only reason I mentioned he called me a "troll lawyer' was to show his attitude towards me. the rule he broke was posting untrue information about me. You may not like me, xoid, but the least you could do is show the same respect i show you and refrain from calling me names. Ad hominem attacls don't solve anything. And two wrongs don't make a right. This event is no more off topic than Mc Zeds, pk day, or a million others. You don't like the idea behind it, that's all. If you create this precedent, you will only hurt the wiki.Jjames 22:41, 12 August 2006 (BST)

A lovely conversation continued

This will be the last i'll say about this, if you want to respond feel free, I'll read it and take it as advice. But I'm finished with this.

Part one I was utterly incredulous that Karlsbad made the choice to drop it at first as this was a clear cut case of vandalism to me. And it wasn't. Doesn’t that tell you something? Karlsbad left that possibility open, I left that possibility open. You didn't and you were wrong.

You said that the warning that Karlsbad gave was justified. The warning that Karlsbad decided on giving, after I questioned him deciding to retract it. Then you say that I don't know what I'm talking about? No you seemed to think that I was calling the warning incorrect, I wanted to make sure that you knew that I had not made any comment about what the punishment should be, as that was up to Karlsbad. I said that you didn't know what you were talking about not because I disagreed with the outcome of your intervention but because that both karlsbad original ruling and the one he made in response to you were in spirit of the rules and you put your comment in a way that left no doubt that a warning was the only possible outcome of that report to your belief.

You see I think that you not only lack tact or subtlety but also clear judgement in some cases. No mater how moderate you try to be by following the rules to the best of your ability and judge each case on a case-by-case basis I think both your tendency to be to quick to assume the worst and your temperament makes that your behaviour and judgement is not up to the role you take up as moderator in my opinion. If you know that you lack certain qualities why do you vandal duties that are so heavily dependant on them? You're work outside vandal banning is incredible. Your work in vandal banning I've got big problems with. Especially as you tag-team a lot with cyberbob whose work as a Behavioural Mod I would qualify as abysmal.

You lack common sense — he vandalised a user page, and Bonefiver has been around long enough to know better. I'm frankly sick and fucking tired of your "go soft on them, even when they have deliberately done something wrong" approach. and if you had wanted to set the record straight you missed out on this comment.

You see not only did he not vandalise that page (minor point, but important) and I don't have a “go soft on them, even when they have deliberately done something wrong" approach. I have "use a minimum amount of force to get maximum result" kind of approach. It's my job to keep this wiki function as best as it can. And by simply asking not only do I get the same result as warning them 9 times out of 10 I also do it in a way that doesn't piss a lot of users off like your way does. And for 1 out of 10 that doesn't respond to simply asking him to quit his actions? I warn and ban them just as quick anybody. I've probably banned at least as many people as anybody here, but because I don't use theatrics and go WHAT. THE. FUCK. or BANNED HAMER THIS FUCKER! Nobody notices. And I like it that way. Minimum amount of drama, maximum amount of result.

Part two ‘‘Or are you forgetting the two-and-a-half fucking hour circular logic fest you subjected me to at 3 in the morning?

Thank you of reminding me of that fricking disaster, you know I like it very much to go on MSN. Especially if I have a stomach flue, had slept 3 hour the previous evening because of that and have to break a deadline at work to do so. But hé I was asked to do so. Never mind the fact that if the timing wasn't to your liking I had given you an alternative.

Then instead of the one-on-one conversation I thought you wanted you wanted to bring cyberbob in. I had rather you didn't but I thought that he would have something useful to say. His contribution was of such high quality that for the first time in about a year of UD and a half year of editing on the wiki I got angry with somebody for real. Perhaps that wouldn't have happened if his conversation had consisted of something else then FUCK THAT REF, :WALL:, you'RE STUPID and xoid I wonder why I never say things as wonderful as you do. I've only heard one worthwhile contribution from him and that turned out to be wrong. I still wonder why the hell he was there. And seeing what a wonderful time he had I wonder why he just didn't but out because it was very apparent that he didn't have to stay on my account.

Now after listening to a long whine fest how much you both were mistreated on a forum that has 10 members were you didn't even get your facts straight, I dared to say something that neither you or cyberbob liked I got flamed to hell. Whoop ti doo. What joy. now if you and your little me too had just chilled out you both would have noticed the first time round that what I said was just a description of how forums normally set up AND IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN FIVE MINUTES INSTEAD OF HOURS instead I got 2 hours of YOU ARE TEH STUPID, NO IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY, :WALL: :WALL: I would have been able to progress beyond that point to make my case. So what do I get after that idiotic 2 hours: You saying, Well yeah of course that work normally works that way, SO? So if you just said that 2 hours earlier instead starting to flame me every time I said that I could have told you the SO Now I don't want you to think I'm neglecting my role here. I should have kept the conversation between us two as it was only you who requested the conversation. I shouldn't have reacted cyberbob's childish spamming. And most of all when I noticed that you both weren't listening I should've stopped the conversation. But most of all I should never have had that conversation as I should have know that you weren't interested in a conversation but merely wanted to vent. I shouldn't have let me get used for that. But seeing that I didn't I can only say: I'm sorry that I didn't do that, I could have done a lot to make sure that it didn't derail into that ugly conversation. But if you're laying the fault only at my feet and not yours’ as well, you can go fuck yourself.

Yours, -- Vista 02:15, 29 June 2006 (BST)

Response

Part I

"This will be the last i'll say about this, if you want to respond feel free, "…I'll read it and take it as advice. But I'm finished with this."

I was more than willing to let it drop, I had half of that reply written and nearly thought better of it until you moved your irrelevant crap back. I was even then, going to let it slide, until I read your edit summary. Relevant to the case? No, it was no more relevant than what came after it.
I ask you this: were we supposed to wait until he showed back up? As I said to Crossbow, the possibility existed that he could well have been hit by a bus. What's a reasonable delay here? One second? One minute? One hour? One day? One month? Where do you want to draw the line, and who else would've received one of your "informative" messages were they to act even a moment before you felt that a reasonable delay had passed?

"I disagreed with the outcome of your intervention but because that both karlsbad original ruling and the one he made in response to you were in spirit of the rules and you put your comment in a way that left no doubt that a warning was the only possible outcome of that report to your belief."

Yet another case of you thinking you are making yourself clear, when you have done anything but. The second clause of the sentence makes sense, the first is painfully fractured English. Fractured to the point where, if not for the second clause, your meaning would not have got across at all.
You assume too much. Vandalism = warning. Therefore by inferrence: Not vandalism = no warning. If Crossbow came back, even three months later, and said "not vandalism", the warning should be retracted.

"…and if you had wanted to set the record straight you missed out on this comment."

Then the nuances must've been lost on you, then. See, I can be condescending as well.

"…because I don't use theatrics and go WHAT. THE. FUCK. or BANNED HAMER THIS FUCKER! Nobody notices. And I like it that way. Minimum amount of drama, maximum amount of result…"

You could have said it all with three words: "Xoid, be civil." Instead you started out with an erroneous assumption and compounded upon it by giving unneeded and unwanted "advice".
I know I said I wouldn't continue this, but what the hay. You were right. I was still pissed about that IM conversations I was to hasty and in error. Looking back it was also a sign that I was turning sour from all the pressure IRL and should have taken a long break sooner. I find it unfortunate that it happend. O well, spoiled milk, etc. But anyway, now the bureaucrat position might come open again, I think you should go for it. Good luck.--Vista 22:02, 27 July 2006 (BST)

Using templates to diss users on pages you visit in an official capacity is not giving a good example and totally unnecessary. I've removed them from the pages itself. I'd rather you not do it at all. But limit them to a talk page at least. We're the moderation staff, not drama queens. --Vista 17:59, 20 June 2006 (BST)

I wasn't going to respond to this, but your recent habit of butting in with irrelvant and ill thought out criticism has me on knife's edge. The templates are there to be used as a flashy trump card. Xoid, is it really necessary to change Melee Weapons to the archaic spelling form that pretty much noone in the english language uses anymore, and is in fact the French spelling of the term, and thus has no place in Modern English, and is impractical for the average, regular English typer to type, and (most likely) causes a ton of broken redirects?

It's one thing to call a page lame - it's another to address a specific user as a "dumbfuck". Yes, I called it griefing, because to the people being PKed, that's what it is. If it's your opinion that I was uncivil, then it also must be that Xoid is far more guilty of that than I am. (The intention was not to be inflammatory - it was more that I was amazed at that people were being encouraged to spoil the game experience for others).--Inkypaws 12:22, 6 June 2006 (BST)
If it wasn't intended to be inflammatory, why did you continue with it after it was plain that, in fact, it was inflammatory? --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! 12:23, 6 June 2006 (BST)
You set the tone for the arguement by calling the page lame, and everyone who supports PKing griefers. Oh yeah, and ending your insult with an ad hominem attack was really going to impress us, wasn't it? No wait, it didn't. –Xoid MTFU! 12:41, 6 June 2006 (BST)
A single inflammatory sentence (which I have already explained, and I am sorry for) does not excuse your incivility. Calling a page "lame" or a group of players "griefers" is not a personal attack, calling me a "dumbfuck" is. Plus, I continued from that with reasoned argument, and did not respond to your abuse with abuse.--Inkypaws 13:01, 6 June 2006 (BST)

Bahhh! Wasn't meant as vandalism, though I won't do it again. Incedentally, someone completely erased my "Collective Consciousness" suggestion yesterday, not even leaving the title up. Why don't you go hunt them down for not following the rules? Aren't you supposed to at least leave the heading up? Zizanie13 17:54, 4 June 2006 (BST)

You should have read the rules, sport. --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! 17:55, 4 June 2006 (BST) PS: I tracked down that person that deleted your suggestion. IT was 'STER, here. This could actually be vandalism. What do you think, Xoid? --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! 17:59, 4 June 2006 (BST)
I never bothered hunting someone down, it was reported to vandal banning and was acted on accordingly. It clearly says in the rules that it is to be treated as vandalism. You have a problem with that, then read the rules first. It's not like they were posted there for decoration, y'know. –Xoid MTFU! 18:02, 4 June 2006 (BST)
Did you even read my PS? --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! 18:03, 4 June 2006 (BST)
Moderators can remove crap if it is >50% spam voted and has at least 3 Spam votes. 'STER still should've left the heading (and transferred it to peer rejected. If it appears there, then it cannot be judged as bad faith. Otherwise, it's up to whatever you think. I've never seen 'STER do something like that before and he keeps his nose clean. I'd say: honest mistake.) As to the PS, I had already written that when an edit conflicted occured. So, no I didn't have a chance to read it just yet. –Xoid MTFU! 18:10, 4 June 2006 (BST)
It's not in Peer Rejected... --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! 18:12, 4 June 2006 (BST)
Well the, Zizanie13 can make his claim, if he wants to. Knowing 'STER's record, I doubt he'll get punished though. –Xoid MTFU! 19:22, 4 June 2006 (BST)
I'm not interested in getting this guy in trouble if he made an honest mistake, though it would be nice if he told me that he took it off. - Zizanie13 15:42, 5 June 2006 (BST)
I'm not even sure he knew he did it. You may want to ask him about it. Just be polite, and you shouldn't have any troubles from him. He's a nicer bloke than most of us. –Xoid MTFU! 15:50, 5 June 2006 (BST)
In my experience, most rules are suggestion. Besides, like I said, I won't do it again. So are you going to spank the mean man who erased my sorry suggestion? - Zizanie13 18:07, 4 June 2006 (BST)

See Xoid, wouldn't the world be a better place if we all simply ignored Amazing's pleas for help. Anyways, sorry you got banned. I've never filed a misconduct case, mainly because I'm not that much of a faggot. I really doubt you were banning me for my own good or to get me to come to my senses (I'm already sensible and polite damnit). I think this entire situation serves as a lesson for all of us. Let Scinfaxi do whatever he wants on his talk pages and ignore whiney little bitches who can't afford a razer. Scinfaxi 17:32, 4 June 2006 (BST)

I can only hope that Amazing doesn't see that comment, Scinfaxi. The resulting catastrophic detonation of his DramaBombTM would engulf the entire wiki in flames (in both senses of the word). --A Bothan Spy Mod WTF U! 17:36, 4 June 2006 (BST)

The ban actually was for that purpose; if he can stop being such a cock and go back to actually contributing to the wiki there wouldn't be any drama — and I didn't want to see anyone getting banned for a week/month/whatever just because he was shit-stirring again. Re: Vote Question

I voted this way primarily because of speed with which Jedaz's attitude has changed and the length of the ban. I'm not trying to question the validity of your ruling--Jedaz has provided tools, however freely avaliable, to 3page and has said things which are unmistakable. I thought about it, and it seemed to me that a permanent ban on someone who's made so many positive contributions for such a recent change in attitude is overzealous. Certainly it deserves a lengthy ban, at the very least, as punishment. I don't expect your ruling to be overturned, given the nature of the offences, and I certainly won't contest it any further than this--you have the power to make decisions as you see fit, and I'll stand by that--but that's just where my two cents lies.

On a side note, I hope that this doesn't start us out on the wrong foot. I've lurked for quite a while, and now I've decided to start making minor maintenance edits to do my bit, questioning banning decisions isn't a really good way to start associating with people. Please take no offence by my vote: as I've said, you've been trusted with these powers, and I'll respect your decision. - Peter Moran 07:56, 6 October 2006 (BST)

This trick

You'll all have to be careful of this trick (but I didn't have to tell you that because I'm sure you knew that already), especialy after the fact that there are at 10^(the length of the persons user name) different combinations for each user. Meaning that someone can impersonate you at least 10,000 times. I wonder why they put so much redundancy into unicode, well you get that =P - Jeda?? 13:07, 3 October 2006 (BST)

Ah ok then. Well I know now. I seriously doubt that it's 10,000 per character, I don't think that Unicode would have that kind of redundancy in it, but I've been known to be wrong. I've only been able to find about 10 characters that are exactly the same as the ones commonly used, but then again I haven't been looking too hard for them. But yeah, you are right about there being more combinations for minor glyph differences, but most of them are fairly obvious. Hmm... oh well thats life for you. Hey, I have a question thats been bugging me for a while, if you and BobHammero felt that the "evil text" was so dangerous why didn't either one of you just ask me before if you's could get rid of it? I know why it was an issue and I would have been quite happy for it to go IF people had actually asked me before. The only reason that I was making a fuss about it was because I never was asked if it was ok to be removed from my user space. Stupid, I know. But still it's the principle of the matter. - Jeda?? 13:32, 3 October 2006 (BST)
Hmm... I see your point. Although the actual evil text page wasn't actually what I was thinking about, although the template calling was. I'll explain to you the plan and what I've done to counter it on the scroll wars wiki (and now indirectly the UD wiki). Basicaly as any edits to user pages cannot be counted as vandalism that means that you can do anything you want with them except impersonation according to this policy. Of course that includes the signitures so they cannot be counted as vandalism. In short the page is untouchable by the rules, so what anyone reverting that kind of vandalism would have to do is to revert all of the users comments. It would become a massive burden if the user was able to sign alot of pages. Well thats the theory anyway if you follow the rules. So in short what I've done is made a policy to allow a moderator to change back the users signiture. And now, the General has copied the policy word for word for the UD wiki. I'm not going to deny that I said those things, but you get that. If I was serious about vandalising the wiki I would have done it by now. - Jedaz - 19:43/28/03/2024 13:57, 3 October 2006 (BST)
I understand where you are coming from, but I have a feeling that that attitude is the kind of reason that all of those vandals are going to attack on the 30th. It should be interesting to see how it all goes, who knows what will happen. If they are smart they should be able to do some real dammage, but I pin most of them down as not being able to do anything really effective (found out who they were by looking at the user list on the board). Hmm... I think the SW wiki has slowed me down in my response times even more... oh well you get that. - Jeda?? 14:24, 3 October 2006 (BST)
Yes, you are right. It's the spirit of the rules that counts. But I have a feeling that if mods were able to warn/ban users for antagonising other users then some of the moderation team wouldn't be here today either. Oh well, I honestly don't mind too much how this wiki is run these days. I know that if most of the moderators had a chance they would ban me instantly so I'm going to be good so that doesn't happen. (Mind you though I'm sure that Cyberbob was after my blood at one stage and wouldn't hestiate at all to ban me) - Jeda?? 14:42, 3 October 2006 (BST)

Beyond the pale of pathetic? Says the guy who can't stand being Scinfaxi so much that he goes and outdoes Amazing in terms of the sheer number of frivulous M/VB and M/A cases. I mean, Jesus Christ, at least he had a good reason for nearly every second case. About e-stalking you? Have you ever tried using the wiki's search engine? It's like pulling teeth. I tend to use Google to search the wiki and I forgot to add "site:wiki.urbandead.com" to the query. –Xoid MTFU! 02:45, 6 October 2006 (BST)
Then you went to POE and asked for my user info. Then you searched posts for personal info to post here. What a total coward move. I'm suprised it's not against the rules, but I'm not suprised you'd sink so low. --Jjames 07:29, 6 October 2006 (BST)
Asked for your user info? I found it quite interesting when the first thing that came up was something about you making troll accounts, so I pursued that. You were accused of being involved in sockpuppetry at the time, remember? A quick search revealed that you made quite a lot of referrences to Denton, and you also made mention of being in a university. I just connected the dots. Doesn't take rocket science. –Xoid MTFU! 07:35, 6 October 2006 (BST)
You are saying it was another sad sack asking about me at POE? It doesn't matter if you are a stupid stalker, it's still creepy and sad to go look up people's personal info. I didn't post anything here, so you shouldn't have either. It's unethical and sad.Jjames 09:20, 6 October 2006 (BST)
You placed easily obtainable, personal information on the internet. So easy to find that I quite literally stumbled across it. Since it was pertinent to Karlsbad's accusations I brought it here. Then you tried to claim that you did not have a history of sockpuppets, despite everything matching up. So I went back and got proof that you were lying. Simple as that. –Xoid MTFU! 09:49, 6 October 2006 (BST)
Sorry to jump in like this, but what's the big deal Jjames? --Niilomaan GRR!M! 18:28, 6 October 2006 (BST)
I don't have a history of sockpuppets. Bubba is an alt. I was the one who revealed my troll account on POE all the other accusations there are incorrect. The fact that it was easy to find is pointless. I didn't post it here. You are a sad person. Creepy too. --Jjames 08:32, 7 October 2006 (BST)
The troll lawyer strikes again, but wrongo! It's not your actual account ? it's a sockpuppet. Needing to create troll accounts because you don't get enough negative attention as it is? Now that is sad. –Xoid MTFU! 10:31, 7 October 2006 (BST)
So every alt is a sock puppet? Even ones you openly admit to having? You aren't very bright.Jjames 17:11, 7 October 2006 (BST)
Um, yes, that is the idea- a Sockpuppet that you admit to have is just a public sockpuppet: Any account you have doing any speaking- even if it is in character- is a sockpuppet. That's all, carry on. --Karlsbad 18:20, 7 October 2006 (BST)

From what I can see, and what I've read, most of the whiners are idiots who have no idea exactly how much vandalism Wikipedia undergoes. You'd need a bare minimum of 20 or 30 thousand admins scanning the place at any one time to deal with it all if it wasn't for things like Curps' ban-bot. Do a couple of people get burned? Sure. It's a program, it doesn't know any better. It's not like it can be fixed or improved without their feedback, but most of it is usually along the lines of "OMFG U BAND MI!". Imbeciles without any consideration whatsoever. The least people could do is give a modicum of background and diff links so he can find out where the bot screwed up…

Question Regarding Peer Rejected Page

Here's one you may have to ask another mod or 2 to answer but I bet I'm not the only person who's wondering about this one. The new policy regarding suggestions clearly states that you have to remove the old suggestion prior to posting the edited version (duh, excellent to point out some stupid people actually would make the new one and forget to remove the old one, getting banned in the process, or forcing someone to remove their older version.. annoying anyways.) BUT... Does this mean you have to remove the "old" version if it's in Peer Rejected? Reason i ask is every now and again I do try some ideas I've tried before after discussing them with users and such, and bring them back a month or 2 later with better rules, wording, or pretty much completely different all together. Normally the "old" version only mattered for "dupes" if they are in peer accepted (waste of time making the same thing again.) But does that "extend" in that you have to get rid of all "old" versions. Sounds anal, but hey there's people a lot more anal than me here so maybe it's a good heads up. Talk with gage as to the intent, maybe.

  • Main thing: are we allowed/required to delete our old suggestions from peer reviewed to comply with the current suggestion change? It will pop up in the future (some dumbass will not think of it, and so forth) and this may save some bitching and moaning.
  • 2nd Thing: Are we allowed to delete our own suggestions from peer reviewed? Reason why... i wouldn't mind deleting the "oldest" versions of the same suggestions, they are a waste of space, and serve no purpouse, the only ones I want there are the best "version". --MrAushvitz 03:32, 9 September 2006 (BST)

Main Thing
Old versions only count for those being voted upon. There's more than enough precedent backing that up, so don't worry about having to get crap removed from Peer Rejected/Reviewed before trying again.
2nd Thing
Unfortunately not. I do think that (if a newer version got a higher percentage of keeps than an older one), the "Notes" field for the older one would say "Hey! There's a better version of me here.". Or at the very least it should
Hope that helps. –Xoid MTFU! 04:32, 9 September 2006 (BST)

Re: Most Odd

BooBoobrian has killed a number of DHPD officers in the past, as well as broadcast anti-DHPD messages over the "Radio" and is thus Persona non-grata in the DMZ, and is also listed as a "shoot if you want to" on our UDTool listing. I don't care what he says he does as a Zerg hunter, until he apologises for past behaivor he can expect more of the same. If I'm not mistaken officers of the DHPD have killed him at least twice in the last week or so, and was also killed by a "civilian" in our area. Its got nothing to do with being on the side of Zergs (whom we also will target if someone Warrants them in the DMZ). --Conndraka mod T CFT 20:17, 8 September 2006 (BST)

1: Thanks for straightening up my talk page, nice work, i shall endeavour to figure out how you did it.

2: regarding the suggestions policy vote (ABCD on # suggestions and # revisions)

a - the policy itself - yeah, that got me in the end, didn't know how to or if to or when to revise. I kinda liked getting 24hours worth of feedback and then fleeing the scene of the crime.

b - the policy on revising policies - yike, it seems like a tiny handful of people get to have a hell of a lot of influence; on the one hand, if they're the only ones bothering to know the wiki well enough to know the vote is on, then hey, they're the ones to have the say, on the other hand, do we need a "suggestion" that Kevan add a window to the Logout page (?or somewhere?) saying "Oi yous! Go vote on some stuff" (hmm, that might just get us a lot of annoying stuff)

3: One of the biggest challenges facing game designers is "how do we make something that appeals to women?". So far all they've come up with is PacMan, Tetris, and The Sims, and all the other software sells mainly to guys. I got the impression that most of the kill/spam votes were about how this wouldn't add anything to the "kill-'em-all-and-let-God-sort-'em-out" style of play but that was exactly the point! We don't need another gun, there's how many weapons already? How about "keep-'em-all-and-let-Kevan-sort-'em-out"? If he's going to spend days-weeks-months implementing an idea, i can't see a problem with him spending 30 minutes reading a page of ideas, and further to that, the nitpicking about AP costs and point benefits is up to him too, he's the one with the game software! Urban Dead is a MMORPG - we've got the MMO and G, but we could use a little more RP, and it saddens me to see ideas relating to flavour (or "flavor", for any f**king yanks that can't spell) and role playing are getting squashed not for any fault of their own but because the voter doesn't think they'll use it themselves in their next cordite-hazed massacre. That's not to say Sassie doesn't enjoy a good massacre from time to time, but mostly she's the Florence Nightingale type (yeah, pity about the syphilis).

Oooh, this isn't my best work either.. >:O( Sassie 15:25, 24 August 2006 (BST)

Yeah, wankers kill or spam ideas that are flavouristic, but often times flavourtastic and flavouriffic suggestions get killed or spammed because they just plain suck. At the moment there is quite literally a cadre of old timers who will autospam any suggestion that gives the crucifix any meaningful use. I'm part of that.
In response to making games appealing to women, it's not a priority. It never has been, and I'm beginning to doubt it ever will be. Most women won't even touch a computer game, much less give feedback on it. Until that changes, why make the majority male population suffer a product they won't like on the off chance that it might attract some people of the female persuasion to play it? You'd risk alienating the majority for very little gain. In brief? If women want games that appeal to them, they can bloody well start speaking up, fucked if I know what a female wants out of a computer game. I doubt any male does. –Xoid MTFU! 15:38, 24 August 2006 (BST)

Danger Levels

I'm not sure who you think you were addressing Xoid, but I found your tone in your response to me in Kiki's talk page inappropriate, not to mention completely wrong.

1) I never claimed 500+ people use DEMON (though 90+% of the DEM uses FireFox), but that our officers have access to the reports of 500-ish active charters. This is through DEMON, SitReps on our forum area and scouting reports on our Partners forums. Since I personally have high level clearances in the CDF, Paradox, STARS etc etc etc I myself actually could claim access to reports from probably closer to 750+ active characters.

2) "Regardless, it's utterly irrelevant if the hypothetical 500 people are in suburbs other than those you are claiming to have accurate intel on." ... WTF? What I was saying was, if we have daily reports on a suburb from 10+ people and decide to change the danger level of a suburb based on that live intel and within the published definitions, how does Sonny, or anyone else not present, have a right to change it to something completely inaccurate? I'm sorry I didn't make the my point in the transition between those two adjecent sentances clearer.

3) As for DEMONs confidentiality, I had hoped that the MFDs officers could be taken at their word. Given our long history in this game and on the wiki of civility and striving for fair play, I thought we would get the benefit of the doubt. But apparently that is reserved for the likes of Sonny. Maybe I should instruct my people to spend more time messing with the wiki and being rude to people to get equal consideration? ... Regardless, I had already authorized that access be provided to the ally version of our threat map to one or two mods not already involved in this discussion as independent collaboration. However as Sonny has withdrawn, at least for the moment, it appears the issue is settled.

--Gilant talk|DEM 15:43, 31 July 2006 (BST)

I know damn well whom I was addressing. Don't think for a second that I forgot who you are. I don't like you. You should know that. If you won't take my word when I say I play fair and am not lying, then I don't see how you can possibly expect me to give yours any more weight. Don't like it? Tough. The DEM, and you in particular lost my respect and my trust over that and will never get it back.
As for DEMON's confidentiality, perhaps you should instruct your officers to be more careful. More than once I've seen one of them let "DEMON" slip. More than once I've seen a screenshot inaccurately censored. If you can't keep your own secrets, then I see no reason to pussyfoot around and leave someone out of the loop over your faux "confidentiality".

Hey
