Description

Westcott Avenue lies in the peripheral of it's name sakes eternal eyes. The raised hill of the Woolf Monument overlooks this place, the statue of the founder of the region Jacob Westcott-Woolf looks to the east and to the rising sun of Mornington. Westcott Avenue was in it's time a busy crossing of the railway lines that run through here and into the west. It is the side approach to the police parking and arrests dock. It's once wide pavements and distinct crossing warnings are now mute and weed ridden. A dozen cars, frozen in their traffic aspect, sit with doors agape. Now homes rather than transport to the stray animals and perpetual insects that are mostly ignored by the undead.

History

30 Sept 10. Corporal Luke having slept most of the day undisturbed slips down Westcott Avenue, heading south to the Police Department. Weaving through the cars and across the railway crossing he sees only the places emptiness. He looks at the sun and feels its warmth. Night is coming.
