Basic Info:

  • A monument is a city block containing a statue or similar piece of public art, without a building in it. It is functionally equivalent to a street, except that players with the Tagging skill can gain 2 XP for writing graffiti on a monument.
  • This is, game-play wise, an empty block, and cannot be barricaded.
  • After the July 3, 2009 update, some monuments became tall and can be seen from a distance with binoculars

Description

Humans and zombies alike will see the following (permanent) description when standing in front of the monument:

"You are at the Longman Monument, an abstract gold sculpture on top of a tall pillar."

This monument, intended to display the beauty of the male form, is cleaned regularly due to the shear mass of birds that perch and shat on the gigantic protrusion extending from the groinal area of the statuola.

History

The monument was erected in 1985 as a salutation to Vietnam War Sergeant Sir Dick Longman for his heroics on the battlefield. Unfortunately, when the sculptor was creating the statue, Sir Longman was suffering from a week-long erection. The sculptor, lacking imagination, incorporated this addition into his work and it remains to this day. The cost of the extra materials needed to complete the work sent the suburb of West Boundwood into severe recession, leading to mass layoffs and extensive rioting.
