He was once a shining example of what our society calls successful: He became the Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Law Review, had a beautiful trophy girlfriend, and was a powerhouse in several sports. He was set apart from the rest of the hyper-successful meritocrats at Harvard in that he had the ability to convince others that their ambition was justified; that they had a greater purpose, that they were destined to save those below them with their powers of intelligence and will.
But now, this man is no different from the rest of the shambling thousands in Malton.
