I'm mostly looking for opinions on usefulness, followed by formatting/layout.<br>
It should be obvious since I've stated this a long time ago on this wiki somewhere, but I'm quite the fan of Sun Tzu's The Art of War. And recently, I've been thinking. How can we best incorporate the Art of War into Urban Dead? This is what this is. "How to incorporate Sun Tzu's the Art of War into Urban Dead." 'Cause there's that very small strategy element in UD that some players tend to miss. And the Art of War is a good start for anybody trying to devise their own tactics to use in this game.
Don't sweat grammar and spelling too much, someone's already proof-reading it for that purpose. (Though I yet appreciate pointers, as I'm not a native speaker. You can even edit straight away if you see a clear-cut mistake.) --{{User:Spiderzed/Sandbox/Sig}} 15:12, 30 May 2010 (BST)

*Such big headings... No one likes the single =, but everyone loves the ===.
*The Rouges Gallery does not exist. Except maybe in Malls.

*Just because there's nothing to be found, doesn't mean they won't replace the genny eventually.

:How is that counterproductive? There's no better way to learn about survivors and their weak-points than to experience them first hand. Armchair experience from reading guides and so on is fine and dandy of course (and a must for becoming a good and educated survivor rather than falling for the usual trenchie fails), but no match for first-hand experience.

:There are plenty of survivor groups who generally DNR everyone on the RG. It's no big deal, but one to be wary of, especially as an RG rap-sheet is irreversible. (Plus, PKing is generally an inefficient thing to do AP-wise and impact-wise if one wants to further the zombie cause. So the earlier the newbs are discouraged from it and focus on more productive methods, the better.)

:Depends on your goals really. Sometimes, I play for keeps. Sometimes, I want to screw someone over for the heck of it (like the trenchie who headshots zombies ouitside and brags about his kill count in his profile). Using feeding groans to direct zombies to a particular barricaded building is just a method for the latter case.

:Yeah, I'm focussing on new death-cultists here. What motivated me to write this one were the questions of the babah zambahs in FU, and my discovery that there wasn't a single decent guide on DCing yet. (The recommended links at the end are pretty much all I've found.)
:I'd have loved myself to get more into the big picture, but the big picture of a.) survivor play and b.) siege strategy are already topics for at least two full guides themselves. (Iscariot used to have a good article on the big picture of survivor play in his userspace. But alas, it's a goner with the recent drama. Or else I'd have linked it for sure.)
:Maybe I could bridge the gap by finding good guides for those two topics and linking them?

:Yeah, that's one thing I need to fix. According to Aichon, the code in them only works for Firefox, so I'm going to have to make up ones for other browsers too. I need to get to that when I have an hour or so spare again. ::Yep, the "moz" in "-moz-border-radius" stands for Mozilla, and only works with Firefox and a handful of other browsers (e.g. Netscape, Camino, and some other minor ones). Truth be told, I was considering the idea of going around the entire wiki and cleaning up all references to the "-moz-" CSS properties in the help documents and elsewhere so that the docs referred to the [[Template:Xbrowsercss|template]] I linked you on my talk page. {{User:Aichon/Signature}} 18:53, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

:::Two questions. First, are you sure? Look at the corners of [[Misanthropy%27s_Map_Toolbox/Big#Bevelled_Map|this map]] carefully, since they are only VERY slightly rounded. Second, if you still don't see it, what version of FF are you using? ::::Due to the way the cells work, rounding the outside too much leaves the cells in the corners protruding, so mild rounding of only a few pixels is all I went for. It's more noticable in the smaller versions than in the bigger ones. {{User:Misanthropy/Sig}} 19:55, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
:::::I just did some more looking into the way that borders behave in WebKit vs. Mozilla, and I was a little naïve, it turns out. I thought that Mozilla had implemented a dual spec, where they had their own syntax as well as syntax that more closely matched WebKit's/the W3C's standard. Turns out they didn't, at least when it comes to rounding out specific corners. So, that template I linked is fine and dandy for doing border-radius, but if you try to do something like border-radius-topleft/border-top-left-radius, it'll break for one set of browsers or the other. I might just make a template for handling borders specifically, rather than a generic one like that template. Dunno yet. It's all in shorthand, we'll all follow it because we know how to do it before we read the guide. It moves too quickly and without explanation for a newbie to follow. Explain why they're doing these things in detail so that even an American could understand it. I find the constant central intrusion of the map diagram to be dis-jarring when trying to read it as well. -- {{User:Iscariot/Signature}} 18:18, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
