Description

Maltonhospitals.PNG

St. Alban's Hospital is a hospital located in the suburb of Rhodenbank. St. Alban is the patron saint of refugees, but when the hospital was first founded in 1912 by Dr. James Knight as an initially temporary field hospital to accommodate the rising numbers of casualties during the Great Fire of 1912, it could not have been known how appropriate its name would one day become. The hospital is the oldest orthopedic hospital in Malton. Specializing in orthopedic and rheumatologic conditions, St. Alban's Hospital was once considered one of top hospitals in the country for joint replacement.

Additional areas of expertise at St. Alban's Hospital included spine surgery and sports medicine. Medical physicians with a subspecialty training in the field of spine surgery focused on patients who suffer from congenital or acute spinal disorders as well as from chronic back pain. The sports medicine services at the hospital treated athletic injuries of the musculoskeletal system with a special focus on shoulder, elbow, and knee injuries.

The hospital also offered professional medical education programs which included a continuing medical education lecture series, conferences, and symposiums. The hospital originally had 271 active medical staff, but these days one would be lucky to find even a handful of trained doctors in the entire building. As was the case, during the "Malton Incident" most of the medical staff were evacuated from the city by military convoy, leaving the hospital devoid of trained professionals and patients alike.

Mandate

The staff at St. Alban's Hospital try to always support the following ideals:

  1. To provide medical assistance to anyone and everyone who enters.
  2. To cure the infected.
  3. To keep its doors open to lower level survivors, if possible.

It is asked that survivors please note whether or not there is a portable generator within the hospital, and whether it has fuel or not. As a working portable generator is required for the Surgery skill it is asked the survivors provide support by replacing either the generator when destroyed or refilling its fuel supply when its exhausted. This in turn will allow the medical staff to provide more efficient aid to the injured.

Barricade Policy

Please keep this building at VSB.

This building follows the barricade policy set forth in the Rhodenbank Barricading Plan. Created by the Rhodenbank Civil Defense Corps, the policy dictates that almost every tactical resource point in Rhodenbank should only be Very Strongly (VS+2) barricaded and no higher, so as to be accessible to inexperienced survivors who do not have the Free Running skill. As a hospital it is important that every effort be made to keep an "open door" policy (i.e. VS+2 barricades) so that all survivors have access to medical assistance for dealing with injuries and/or infections.

Still, should the number of zombies rise above 5 within a 3x3 grid around the hospital or reports of nearby resources buildings being overrun be confirmed, then barricades should be raised to Extremely Heavily in order to protect everyone inside the hospital. Note that members of the RCDC have the right to lower the barricades to Very Strongly if they discover them raised higher without just cause.

Current Events

February 17th, 2010 - Somebody has over-barricaded the hospital to EHB. There is not a single zombie in the 3x3 area of this hospital, and now my guy has died of infection. -- Cashier Number 1 17:25, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

January 29th, 2009 - All is orderly, 6 zombies outside but greatly outnumbered. Generator is running and is VSB+++. Conbar 18:57, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

December 9th, 2008 - D.I.T.P.S recon reported that St. Alban's Hospital was Extremely Heavily barricaded, but unlit.

November 20th, 2008 - The building is Extremely Heavily barricaded with a working generator. There were 20-30 zombies outside laying siege to the hospital, but survivors inside appeared confident that they had strong enough numbers to repel any attacks. The suburb's current zombie problems have been associated with the Militant Order of Barhah.

August 28th, 2008 - 67 survivors (2 PK KILL THEPROBE2) VSB++ and way too much misinfo. Genny needs Fuel soon.

August 23rd, 2008 - 47 survivors, 0 zombies, 0 dead/revivifying bodies. Fueled genny and VS+2.

August 18th, 2008 - Argument about combat revives. A newbie magnet with 67 survivors at one point. Everyone happy and there are constant parties. We have a generator and the zed population is low so come all who are wounded!

May 31st, 2008 - Group of survivors picking up where Susie left off and holding St. Alban's. It is EHB against the small hordes outside, and will be until we can get enough people to populate and hold St. Helier's. Entry point 1N at The Bizzell Building. Come help fight the good fight against zeds! NT accessible with free-running by going 1 SW, 1 NW, also EHB. Look forward to seeing you! Sassylassy 16:51, 31 May 2008 (BST)

April 3rd, 2008 - Zeds broke in. They outnumber survivors 2 to 1. If we are serious about holding the hospidal we need more people now. --Jiyko 15:20 GMT

March 28th, 2008 - Low level survivors are being killed by a player accusing them of being zed spies. so far the player has killed 2 low levels and injured another. Any low level player should avoid. --Surfraptor

December 11th, 2007 - The Hospital is powered and in great shape, there are many survivors here, and with a working revive point close by zombies can become fully restored humans again with little AP cost or waiting. --Afterdeath 21:55, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

October 17th, 2007 - The hospital stands as one of the survivor strongholds in Rhodenbank. Currently the reported number of survivors inside of the hospital is 61. Outside there is no sight of any zombies. The generator is fueled and working and there is a radio transmitter set up inside tuned to 25.96 MHz. Witty banter has been reported in the wards and a "knock-knock" joke was announced over the hospitals PA this morning.

September 5th, 2006 - An impromptu block party was held at St. Alban's Hospital by the Minions of the Apocalypse, and a whole bunch of zombies from the Big Bash dropped by to help (un)liven things up a bit. Survivors fought valiantly and were considered to be "real party animals", but only for a short time before the party died down, along with all the remaining survivors. Translation, the hospital was overrun.

June 10th, 2006 - The Ridleybank Resistance Front assaulted and overran the building. Survivors were forced to flee eastwards as the zombie horde continued to decimate other resource buildings in west-Rhodenbank.
