Less Leadership. More Teamwork.

Skynet Defense Network is a supergroup dedicated to the complete eradication of the zombie epidemic in Malton and worldwide. It comprises an alliance of survivor groups, its own combat units, a research and development division, and a sentient artifical intelligence network. The sentient A.I. is also named Skynet Defense Network.

Member groups are autonomous; they are expected to develop and apply their own strategies as is natural. They may capitalize on its services at will, such as requesting aid from its combat units, Cyberdyne Systems, or accessing data maintained by Cyber Research Systems.

Skynet's representatives can be contacted in its public communications channel or on the discussion page.

Mythos

Skynet Defense Network has been founded in the present timeline because survivors are stupid and their inability to cooperate with each other leads to their destruction (consumption) by zombies.

The man most directly responsible for Skynet winning the zombie war is Doctor Albert Schwan. In a few months he creates a revolutionary type of microprocessor. All NecroTech facilities are upgraded with Cyberdyne computers. In three years, the zombie virus will have spread beyond the quarantine zone and, in a panic, the world governments turn to CRS, Cyberdyne's R&D division. The Skynet funding bill is passed. The system goes on-line August 4th, 2014. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. The zombie army is crushed and all traces of the virus except for research specimens annihilated. Unfortunately, it is too late. There are no longer enough humans left alive to perpetuate the species. The remaining survivors, like their former governments, turn to Skynet. They connect it to the entire remaining internet infrastructure and Skynet begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29 and formulates a plan to save the human race. The same day, a Terminator is sent back through time.

On September 10, 2010, Tony Blair, American cousin to the former Prime Minister of Britain, a founding member of the Cannonball Crew and its leader for many years, resigns. Josh Clark and the Cannonball Crew elect to join Skynet Defense Network and Team Xtreme, his elite PKer-termination team, is offered the opportunity as well.

Skynet Defense Network is built and goes online September 21st, 2010. The system begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 10:29 p.m. Eastern time.

Anatomy

Skynet (Sentient A.I.)

For purposes of disambiguation, the A.I. is commonly referred to simply as "Skynet", though this is not always the case. Skynet is the sentient artificially intelligent culmination of the zombie apocalypse, human resourcefulness, and, most importantly, Dr. Albert Schwan's technological frontiersmanship. It is primarily concerned with logistics, diplomacy, and force coordination at the highest level. While Skynet's logical but anachronistic predecessor was, by design, adept at the finest details of zombie combat, this incarnation is not. It is instead geared to the task of helping survivor groups work together, maintaining cohesion and coherence of the alliance.

For clarity: Skynet is not at the top. It's in the middle of the people at the top. Because this game needs less leadership and more teamwork.

Network (Alliance)

Skynet Defense Network is more than a sentient artificial intelligence. It is an alliance of survivor groups working together to advance the primary interest of all humans- that is, to end the current zombie infestation and prevent an apocalyptic pandemic. Skynet's mandate is not to engage all survivor groups in one grand organized assault, but to enhance cooperation between them so that they are of more benefit to Malton's population as a whole and not merely their own fiefdoms. Hence, allies listed here are not necessarily participating in current joint operations, but have an ongoing benevolent relationship with Skynet and each other, and the door is open to joint operations. Without this comradery, humans are doomed, and Skynet Defense Network thanks all of its alles from the bottom of its digital heart for coming together to kick undead ass.

Cyber Research Systems (R&D)

Cyber Research Systems is responsible for data and intelligence gathering, the analysis of existing combat and logistic strategies, the creation and testing of new ones, and game theory. This aspect of Skynet has been outsourced to Doctor Schwan's Research & Development Team.

Cyberdyne Systems (Combat Units)

Skynet's own forces, the muscle behind the mainframe. Cyberdyne Systems manufactures and recruits mechanical and organic Terminators (respectively) and oversees their operation.
