  • Is anyone else interested in this type of data being presented for the previous week, or any similar period? I'll try updating it here on the talk page for a few weeks and hopefully it will encourage some feedback on style/formatting and effectiveness. --Spraycan Willy MalTel 09:59, 29 March 2006 (BST)
If you have not noticed I have discountinued my hourly monitering of the phone stats but my revive the proccess in the future. --Spraycan Willy MalTel·T 00:09, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Partitioning up the map

Perhaps we could split the map up into sectors, and start assigning people to individual sectors, say, maybe a 2x2 area. In the easier sectors(ones with outside aid) people could take more than just a 2x2 area. In the harder ones, maybe they'd be only responsible for just that suburb.

Just a thought. -Brickpile Jones MalTel 17:02, 13 April 2006 (BST)

This is a good idea. Some of the information is presented in on both MalTel and Mast but it is kind of hard to see where the holes are. Let me know how I can help and I would be happy to. 3x3 or 5x1 might work for some areas. This would produce a funny puzzle to look at but its an Odd town. Currently in midtown. --Spraycan Willy MalTel 04:12, 14 April 2006 (BST)
Some people like to move around... My two characters usually lurk on the eastern half of the map. Most of the time, I go to where the holes are and then update. If we can get enough people to do this, we could knock out an overlapping 3x3 grid for everyone, or everybody takes half a row or column for Spraycan Willy's MalTel 1x5 suggestion. We need 20 volunteers, and maybe a discussion on some of the bad areas. Scarletwood in particular is very difficult to keep up because of high zombie population. --ERNesbitt 15:54, 21 April 2006 (BST)
Kinda what I meant. The heavier areas would only be patrolled/maintained in smaller sections, like 1X2. While the more human friendly areas (Giddings, Fort Creedy areas), could have larger sections, because it's easier to dodge zombies and we can enlist some help from the other groups. I'd have to do some more studying and get some more input on the western half of the city, I don't go there much. --Brickpile Jones 17:28, 22 April 2006 (BST)
I have not checked in on Scarletwood, but yeah, there are a couple of places midtown (Ridleybank and Mockingridge Heights) that are a wash ... down to 34% earlier we also need a recruitment drive ... --Spraycan Willy MalTel 08:03, 24 April 2006 (BST)
I'm trying to recruit as much as possible. But right now I'm focusing a lot of my efforts in Gibsonton and the area around it. I like the challenge.

Now that the map shows the DEM districts, we could use those as our guides and assign more people to specifc areas. ERNesbittP·T·MalTel 16:43, 13 June 2006 (BST)

I know I'm a relative rookie and pretty much zombie bait, but I'll scare up information on the nearest 'burbs surrounding Tapton...roughly, Tapton, Kempsterbank, Greentown, Mockridge Heights, Shackleville and Kempsterbank. I know there's already a tech at least scouting Kempsterbank, but the northern pass to the Crang building moves at least part of the way through KB. I ask our diplomat to forewarn any groups operating out of Shackleville that I'll be moving in transit, if possible. Jonathan Frey 17:44 1 August 2006 (CST)

New Template 6/12/06

I made a new cleaner template to conform to the style guides. Now, the only two variables that need to be passed are the _status and _update. The rest can be have been deleted. Suggestions and critique are welcome. --ERNesbitt 21:11, 12 June 2006 (BST) (updated ERNesbitt 03:54, 13 June 2006 (BST))

  • As a side note: The districts (NW1-5, SE1-5, etc.) are DEM Districts. If anyone is still interested in partitioning up the map for better coverage, these districts should be a guideline. In some of the more difficult districts, more than one person can patrol to keep better coverage. If you would like more information, see: MFD_Command#Divisions --ERNesbitt 21:20, 12 June 2006 (BST)
  • I like the look of the new template and the inclusions of DEM districts. I prefer the alpabetical list presented first withe the map on the bottom but wait for additional feedback. The smaller font should also help as some have chosen to begin including additional notes. I don't think the height needs to beforced square on each suburb of the map try reducing it and it will payback into the page length a lot nicer (opinion). Thanks for all your efforts keeping this looking spiffy. --Spraycan Willy MalTel 22:43, 12 June 2006 (BST)
  • Also another thing that is starting to cause me a little trouble is the presentation of building names. Having the coords first is somewhat non-standard and coping these to past into other search maps is now akward. I MUCH prefer the display building [x,y] over [x,y] building. actualy so much so that I took the liberty of flipping them around which fixes most of my issues searching the page electronicly. Thanks for your patients perhaps those columns could be narrowed a bit to save space as well. --Spraycan Willy MalTel 23:31, 12 June 2006 (BST)
    • Or every other column could be given a gray background, say #ededed. I switched the tables around so that the list is at the top. I did try to put borders around the districts, but it rendered funky when I did, so I'll have to play around with it a little more to find something that works. I debated (again) on a notes field when I created these... Since there is (technically) more space now, notes are more feasible in the update column, so I left it at two variables per suburb. Also, thanks for changing the columns around. That was just the order I had them in my spreadsheet when I made the table. I'm still open to more suggestions and comments. --ERNesbitt MalTel 03:09, 13 June 2006 (BST)

Hummm, there is something odd about the districts. The alphebetical list and the map do not show the same district tags. Looking to MFD_Command as an example of DEMs structure I think the map is right and the listing is wrong. I'm going to begin trying to make them match starting with the NW district. --Spraycan Willy MalTel 05:32, 21 June 2006 (BST)

  • I think I fixed the NE District and the NW District. In each instance Districts 1-3 were rotated a bit. Districts 4 and 5 seemed OK. That should be half of it. I'll do a checkup on the southern districs later today. --Spraycan Willy MalTel 06:05, 21 June 2006 (BST)
    • Whoops. I guess that's what happens when you program at 3:00am. Thanks for fixing that. ERNesbittP·T·MalTel 06:22, 25 June 2006 (BST)

'Out of Fuel' Status

To make reports more detailed the map key could be changed to make 'Inactive' mean either 'Destroyed' or 'Out of Fuel'(Unknown which it is), while a new color is added to be 'Out of Fuel'. 'Out of Fuel' could be Yellow while 'Inactive' be Orange. This would make it so you could use the Phone to update it to the best of your knowledge while people who are at the location could make it more detailed. Just a suggestion --EMAG_TRESNI 16:48, 22 June 2006 (BST)

  • I get your point on the addition of an 'Out of Fuel' status. Now I use inactive for out of fuel as well as exterior ovservations on no blinking on heavily barricaded structures. This addition Would make that more clear. Spraycan Willy MalTel·T 23:35, 22 June 2006 (BST)
  • It is a good suggestion and very easy to implement. As it stands now, there are three signals that require attention (unknown, destroyed, and inactive), while there is only one (active) that does not. I'm not sure that I see a benefit in adding an additional attention signal. I try to carry generators and fuel with me at all times. If I come across a tower that is not fueled, that just leaves me with an extra generator (bonus). If I'm just quickly passing through a suburb, I will check to see if it is active, otherwise I stick an 'inactive' on it and go through. Before adding the additional category, lets get the rest of the group in on the discussion. ERNesbittP·T·MalTel 06:15, 25 June 2006 (BST)
  • Personally, I don't see the need for a totally new classification. It's always been my understanding that 'inactive' usually means 'out of fuel' anyway. In any case, though, I always make sure that I'm prepared for both destroyed and empty generators before I go out on a run. MordredMalTel 01:31, 26 June 2006 (BST)
  • I don't think it would be necessary but on the other hand if it was easy to implement it wouldn't hurt to add it. I also mostly go fully loaded; generator, fuel can and transmitter for each out of service station. Which reminds me, I'm not sure how supported the notion of "a transmitter for each phone mast building" is; do you guys think that would warrant a template as well? - Alan Watson 03:49, 29 June 2006 (BST)
  • I think the out of fuel status would add to Maltel efficiency : my malte emplye is a non fighting guy. A destryed generator is likely to mean zombies are inside while Out of gas is likely to mean no zombies.

Since he can't kill zombies, aiming to OOG status would be more efficient. What I think whoud be even more usefull would be "zombie infested" status. --Eric Notlam 10:46, 1 July 2006 (BST)

  • I don't think it's nessicary. In-active means out of fuel, or is there another way of it being inactive without being destroyed?--Labine50 MHG|MalTel 04:58, 2 July 2006 (BST)
  • Inactive is also used by people checking a suburb with their cell phone without actually walking to the mast. Therfore, inactive is currently used for both out of gas and destroyed. in both cases the tower is inactive. --Eric Notlam 08:06, 3 July 2006 (BST)
  • As eric pointed out, I will step accros a burb line and click on my phone you can check 4 burbs pretty quickly in the corners that way. I make these as inactive even when I've not visited the mast. This would probably be best described by No-Service. I think I should start doing a better job of entering this info in the notes section (along with the signature). Spraycan Willy MalTel·T 11:00, 7 July 2006 (BST)
  • just a thought, is anyone in Maltel knows well how the wiki works, especially the phone mast page. I'm asking this because I'm wondering if writung a greasemonkey script that would automatically update the page accoring to mast viewings and cell phone calls would be doable. --Eric Notlam 17:11, 17 July 2006 (BST)
    • Out of sheer boredom and frustration (100 AP, lots of beer, lots of spray cans, zero fuel from a powered auto repair shop.), I went ahead and added the 'nofuel' status. I bumped down the inactive status to just above 'destroyed'. As I paid closer attention to it, I put up four generators this week with no fuel and relied on the generosity of the local militant groups to fuel the phone masts. If we don't use it, we don't. Runners can still use 'inactive' for what we don't know and those of us that are fully loaded can save on generators and just waste perfectly fine AP in a futile attempt to find fuel cans. ERNesbittP·T·MalTel 04:21, 22 July 2006 (BST)

The Big Bash

With the Big Bash rolling through the city, we may need to re-focus our efforts. There seem to be two factions emerging, one to gather and fight, and the other to flee and rebuild the damaged suburbs. I can't see a benefit of one over the other, they both could work. Gulsonside seems to be generating the most talk for confrontation, but some groups out west are gathering to rebuild and secure the areas while the horde shambles across the city. I'm all for a split in forces, what is the general concensus here? --ERNesbitt 18:10, 25 July 2006 (BST)

Following in their wake and helping with the rebuild seems the most productive way to bring the stats back up. Thats my vote. Wherever the leading edge of this force is now (Pitneybank?) they are just going to stand right back up and hit the cades. Spraycan Willy MalTel·T 05:18, 1 August 2006 (BST)

A quick cry for help

The situation in the Barrville mast isn't that bad, I managed to throw up loose barricades, but there's still 1 zombie inside and help is needed fast 'fore the RRF can send reinforcments. I'm out of AP so I'm useless atm.--Labine50 MHG|MalTel 22:38, 3 October 2006 (BST)

And one more thing...I find it quite sad that suburbs with a group ensuring the saftey of the phone mast could ever have an unknown status.--Labine50 MHG|MalTel 00:39, 4 October 2006 (BST)

...

add the malton reclaim. im not to set on updateing since i dotn have time

just say we pledge to keep any phone mast we can up, unless its under seige, then we dotn care cause its not important enough to die for... just dont add that part lol.... the malton imperial federation also supports--cody6 06:00, 15 October 2006 (BST)

Fuel Can Duration

Do we know if one fuel can completely fills up a generator? Yes it does
Can you pour more then one fuel can into a generator? No you can't
If so, is pouring more then one can in a generator a waste of gas? Invalid question
Has anyone figured out how long a Fuel Can lasts?

I’ve come across generators that say “The generator's fuel tank is full.” When I try to use a gas can, so I assume the first two answers are “no”. But I can’t be sure until I find an offline generator and try adding two cans.
--RocketYam 00:51, 3 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I've heard that generator's hold one can's qorth of fuel. I haven't read anything about duration yet. This sort of questioning about generators and fuel cans really should take place on the Useful Items talk page. --LouisB3 04:08, 3 Dec 2005 (GMT)

an excellent point, good sir --RocketYam 01:11, 4 Dec 2005 (GMT)
ok, Operation Tesla has been going for 4 days, and it's still running. I’m in an obscure factory, so I doubt anyone has been refueling the genny.
hypothesis: actually USING the generator for surgery and stuff uses fuel faster RocketYam 04:36, 9 Dec 2005 (GMT)
we have passed 7 days and are on our 8th day with out any (reported) refueling. --RocketYam 03:38, 12 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Distribution and Description

From their distribution so far, I assume there is one per suburb? Also, the description is ambiguous; does it display that message from inside or outside of the buildings? (I figure outside, but I haven't seen one yet, so I'll leave it up to someone who has to change the wording) Elliothatman 03:50, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

I've only ever seen the description on the outside. But, I couldn't get inside to check if it was visible from inside as well. So at the very least I personally know the description is displayed from the outside. Riktar 00:04, 24 Nov 2005 (GMT)
Ok I can confirm that it displays it from the outside and from the inside displays the standard "generator is running" type dialogue. Elliothatman 15:13, 24 Nov 2005 (GMT)

How many per suburb? I was thinking there would be only one, but I'm suddenly not so sure, because as I was travelling along, I heard this in Strange Bank:Barrville... "I just fixed the barricades in the church, they where almost down, hope the Zombies don't know we are useing it as a com station" (11-24 18:04 GMT) I'll post back after I can check the churches there. -Serpico, 11/24

Well, until we get reports on the wiki of multiple masts per suburb, I'm going to be assuming there's one each. --LouisB3 19:38, 24 Nov 2005 (GMT)
Mostly because page lists like this pretty much never display credits on the front page. Not singling you out, but noone gets their credits displayed. That tends to be the case with wikis. -- Odd Starter 05:20, 26 Nov 2005 (GMT)
well that sucks. they should la Least get some form of credit, though I don't know what exactly... --Game master 22:00, 27 Nov 2005
it's a resource, not an honor roll :P Elliothatman 05:54, 28 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Comparison to Stat Page

I notice the offcial UD stat page lists a 65% Mobile Phone coverage rate which would indicate 65 out of 100 suburbs have working Mobile Phone Masts, yet I only count 32 reported working here. It is quite easy to check if the mast is up just see if your mobile phone works in that suburb. I mention this to help the two get more in synch. --Matthew-Stewart 23:32, 2 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Yeah, I just set up the color coding and the "Gen status" fields this week, so not every suburb has been checked yet. Actually, earlier this week there were about 20 suburbs with unknown (or at least unrecorded) towers. Now we've got, what? 5 left to map out? The other hurdle is that they run out of gas, and as far as I know, no one knows how long gas lasts. So for all we know, we could report a tower as “online” and then it could tank the next minute. --RocketYam 00:51, 3 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Now that all generator statuses have been reported, this page naturally has more running masts than there actually are - people who report status are likely to be refuellers, and destroyers (zombies and antisocial survivors) are unlikely to report. --LouisB3 00:22, 16 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Update Durations and Out-of-Date Entries

Should we be policing the out of date entries (say: more than 7 days old)? Quite a few entries are older than ten days right now. Hypothetically, we know that the generators last that long from RocketYam's Tesla Project, although it is hard to tell when a generator was last fueled, and it's even harder to isolate one to test it (as everyone involved is finding out). Considering the likelyhood of desruction, refueling or fuel consumption, should we start marking entries older than a set duration as "unknown" to give a visual clue to go check it? --ERNesbitt 05:08, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I agree. The stats page says that we have 57% mobile phone coverage right now, but this page says we have 89%. That ain't right. I say mark any report older than 7 days as "Unknown". Perhaps colour in gray? --Blobmorf 04:41, 23 Dec 2005 (GMT)
It has been done. My apologies to anyone that may be hacked off by this, but with that large of a discrepancy between the game stats and our page, it becomes a useless tool unless it is kept updated. Thank You. --ERNesbitt 05:03, 23 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Worthless?

Isn't this ability kind of, I don't know, worthless? I mean, seriously, why waste AP searching for phones, talking to only one person at a time on your contact list, not to mention having to keep the damn thing charged, when one could just skip that altogether and just talk on the wiki? I guess I just don't see this thing getting much use. TeffaBob 07:24, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

But on the other hand, it makes metagaming much more fun since you now have an ingame means of communicating across the map! Sure, you could use the wiki, a forum or an IM program, but if you want to rp, mobile phones make it more fun! It also makes it easier, because not everyone looks at the wiki and not everyone uses forums etc, wheras this is right there in the game. Elliothatman 07:30, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

No, its not worthless. Metagaming is always going to be more effective than in-game communication - so why do people tag, or speak? Because not everyone metagames, especially not all the time. Greater in-game communication is good, because it allows players to coordinate without having to use magical intuition that can't be explained in-character. --LouisB3 14:34, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Also consider that this ability is genuinely un-spyable - only the two recipients can see the message... -- Odd Starter 19:48, 24 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Sterling comment. May I just add, that when you are in trouble, being able to message a friend to come and rescue you BEFORE they go and spend all their APs for the day is priceless... :D Not everyone has time to fully browse their group forum everyday before they play.--Timothy Askins 11:53, 30 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Suburb Pages

Should we add the location of the mobile phone masts to the table in the suburb information page? EG Saxsux 13:07, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Not sure. I agree that it should be included in the template somehow. It would probably be wise to include the existence of a phone mast in their respective suburbs, and how many. But I'm going to assume (perhaps wrongly) that there is at least and at most one in every suburb in the game. Therefore existence is moot. Howerver, doesn't the mapbox template include a field for the coordinates of a phone mast? At the very bottom -- however, I've not yet seen a suburb with the field in question filled in, and am personally unsure of how to do so myself. Riktar 00:07, 24 Nov 2005 (GMT)
Yeah it seems to have been added to the template after I posted that. So it doesn't really matter any more. Saxsux 09:40, 24 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Sort by Grid

Do you guys think we should also maybe include a list sorted by suburb zone? For easier viewing for those thinking spatially and wondering where the nearest phone mast is. Riktar 23:58, 23 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Haven't we got a new map template for exactly this sort of thing? (Although oh, it's not actually a Wiki template, looking at it, it's just a big HTML table.) --Spiro 10:14, 24 Nov 2005 (GMT)
Yeah, that table was inserted some time this morning. It's not sorted by location; but it's certainly a lot more useful than the last list. It's not really a big deal any more, it's not really that hard to go alphabetically now that every zone is included, regardless of whether or not we've found their phone mast.
I added in the "big HTML table" for a temporary reference. Once the all of the locations have been added it will be of no use and can be deleted. For now; however, it's a decent visual reference for people like me who know where we are and want to find the next suburb. --ERNesbitt 02:29, 29 Nov 2005 (GMT)
My character is now a MalTel employee, so I tried to enhance the grid a little bit, showing operational status and so forth via color coding. I'm not good with this wiki stuff, so I don't know if there is a slick way of doing it, so I did my best. --RocketYam 00:14, 30 Nov 2005 (GMT)
MalTel! Ha! I Love It! So does that mean that the zombies use Mrh?izon? --ERNesbitt 02:59, 30 Nov 2005 (GMT)

The table

I changed the formatting of the table a little bit. I was hoping to make it easier to read, as it contains a lot of information, and is quite long. If you think you can improve it further, you're welcome to do so. --Daranz-Talk 00:51, 30 Nov 2005 (GMT)

Hey; this is kind of an embarrassing question. Ever since the change to the new table, I have no idea how to update it. Hitting "edit" doesn't seem to give me anything I can edit. Is the actual data stored somewhere else? -- James Holloway 17:41, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Never mind; got it. -- James Holloway 17:47, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Maybe at this point, before the tables get further out of hand, it would be a good idea to make a template for the entire page structure. This way when one gets updated, the entire page gets updated. The color coding is great, but not everyone is updating both tables. --ERNesbitt 02:59, 30 Nov 2005 (GMT)
I wanted to do that, so you could just set the gen status to a certain state and it would update the 'map'. Then maybe auto-time stamp the "updated" field. But I haven't the foggiest idea how to do that, if I t could even be done. I’m just not that familiar with wiki. --RocketYam 04:50, 30 Nov 2005 (GMT)
I'm not sure that something that complex is at all possible, unfortunately. Templates give some functionality, but don't do anything resembling calculation or if statements (which is what's needed here). If you're willing to do it with multiple templates, maybe something similar could be done, but as of the moment, It's rather complex. -- Odd Starter 10:21, 30 Nov 2005 (GMT)
I think it can be done with three templates. The lowest one sets the status equal to the colors in an array. The next one up gets all of the variables including suburb name, mast location, status and last_update and sets them in an array to <suburb_name>_name, <suburb_name>_mast_location, etc. while the highest level just sets the variables in terms of the suburb like: |tapton= ((MalTelSub |Tapton|the Crang Building|[43, 75]|active|20:57, 30 Nov 2005 (GMT))). and calls them into the tables as needed.

I made the whole mess into a template (Six, actually). The suburbs now look like this:

barrville_name=Barrville|
barrville_bldg=Olivey Library|
barrville_coords=[45,44]|
barrville_status=active|
barrville_update=08:34, 7 Dec 2005 (GMT)|

You should only need to update the _status and _update fields. Use the following values for _status: active, inactive, destroyed, unknown. These allow for the color change in the map automatically. If it's white, it's not right. --ERNesbitt 20:57, 13 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Looks great, but now the sigs don't link to user pages. --LouisB3 22:05, 13 Dec 2005 (GMT)
They will... I had to copy and paste the whole table as plain text to run it through a macro to avoid typing out 500 lines of code. As they are updated, the sigs will fix themselves.
It appears that having an equals sign right next to the double open brackets doesn't link. If you use a couple of dashes (Like the sig button) or a space between the equals and the sig, it will show up normally. --ERNesbitt 01:44, 14 Dec 2005 (GMT)
This may sound really dull and not-wanted, especially considering all the work to get it to where it is right now, but if we don't need anything other than the _status and _update fields, why not hard-code the rest of the fields? It would remove possible confusion at any rate, and make it a little safer. -- Odd Starter talk | Mod 03:48, 14 Dec 2005 (GMT)
I agree that it would have been easier, but I'm a programmer by trade and I wanted to build it for expandability and portability in the future. The way it is constructed now, it can be used for any "single building type per suburb" purpose just by copying the main template. The other five subtemplates are all nebulous enough to be used by the same type of master template. I suppose it could even be modified to do multiple buildings per suburb as well... Maybe there will be sub stations that need to be kept going in each suburb once power is restored to the city. I'm up for any improvement suggestions... That was my first attempt at a wiki template, I'm learning as I go. --ERNesbitt 05:18, 14 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Hmm, I still don't see any advantage to requiring parameters to be passed in for the suburb, building, and coordinates, when they appear not to change. Perhaps we could adopt a hard-coded version and in the event that something breaks in the future, we can just revert it to the original format. --Lint 05:08, 23 March 2006 (GMT)
The advantage comes if another "single building type" comes up, like say a Power Sub station is activated which then powers the entire suburb. Then the same template can be used, but only the input variables need to be changed. If you wanted to claim a certain area of the map as being under your patrol, you could change the name to "Zone 6: Scarletwood" and then state below that you patrol Zone 6 without changing the template. It's meant not to lock in the names and building locations. --ERNesbitt 17:24, 21 April 2006 (BST)
Sweet dude! Awesome work. Is there anyway to make it so after a certain number of days after a report, it goes back to Blue or "Unknown" status? Once we figure out how long fuel cans power a mast, we could set it to go back to "Unknown" to indicate that the info is out of date. Or is that beyond the capabilities we have here? --PakChooieUnf 03:26, 15 Dec 2005 (GMT)
Thank you. I thought about that, but I'm pretty sure it's beyond the capabilities unless everyone used the same format to put in the date/time. Even then, I think it's a bit out of the wiki realm. But I will add that to the list of modifications. For now, it looks like policing the table and changing it manually would be the only way. My vote is on anything more than 5 days. --ERNesbitt 04:02, 15 Dec 2005 (GMT)
  • If it's easy to do, could we get a "Additional Notes" column for special information about a particular location? --Atratus 01:04, 16 Dec 2005 (GMT)
For now, just add notes to the _update field. Then you have any notes and a timestamp. When I tried to add notes to the template, it messed up the whole page. Something about the template being larger than 32KB made it parse the whole page wrong. --ERNesbitt 18:31, 16 Dec 2005 (GMT)

The UD Map

Say thanks - I got the mast locations updated on the Map. Props to Fletch for responding so fast. --Daxx 17:16, 9 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Nice. Too bad the graphic is so ugly and obtrusive, though. Oh well - can't have everything, I suppose. --LouisB3 05:23, 10 Dec 2005 (GMT)

Suburb Issues

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but I just wanted to inform people that the mobile phone tower in Foulkes Village probably won't ever be working. I've placed or seen others place 3 generators there in the past 48 hours, complete with fuel, and usually within 6 hours the generators are destroyed. I believe this is being done by a survivor, and not a zombie, as the building is heavily barricaded. I just post this as a warning to others, that if you place a generator there, don't think it assume it will last, unfortunately. --TeleScout 03:30, 14 Dec 2005 (GMT)

  • TeleScout: As of early January there is now a small cadre of volunteers from various organizations (including the Malton Confederacy and Malton Fire Department) dedicated to preserving the Freeguard Building and its immediate neighborhood. In addition, signage has been placed in surrounding buildings directing survivors to bring generators and fuel there. --Natalya Zveda 20:25, 17 Jan 2006 (GMT)
  • I've encountered similar problems in North Blythville, as has the neighbouring hospital. Tag left: "Generator destroyed by The Gray"--Atratus 21:23, 16 Dec 2005 (GMT)
  • Evidently Crooketon also has this problem. I put a generator there this morning, and when I logged in this afternoon, it was gone. Strongly barricaded, no sign of zombies. --TeleScout 03:57, 17 Dec 2005 (GMT)
  • I've just restored Mockridge Heights, but I don't know if it'll hold. Zombie activity seems pretty heavy in the area. -- James Holloway 00:05, 28 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I did a little update - Molebank radio mast is generator-less ... We're trying to fix it but so far no luck with finding generator. Malek

  • Found a generator at last - we're up and running ^^

Confusion

The eenw system of changing the MTS status is to confusing. I think meny people won't know how to edit it and it will cut down on updates. I think this is the right place to put this right? --Fullemtaled 10:10, 19 Dec 2005 (GMT)

I'm open to suggestions for improvement. It seems people are clicking on the "Edit" link next to the table which then edits the template, instead of using the Edit tab on the top which edits the page. --ERNesbitt 18:24, 19 Dec 2005 (GMT)
I removed the "Edit" links and the TOC submenus to stop people from editing the template itself. This should eliminate the confusion. --ERNesbitt 18:49, 19 Dec 2005 (GMT)
