- Just a general question about this: should the group be proposed to become a historical group then? Or will the page/group stay like that until someone reactivates that group? I'm just trying to figure out the general idea about keeping non-active pages, no offense intended. :) --Soccerfan666 MFD | RCS 17:11, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Na, that one wouldn't stand a chance of making a historical group. But just because a group page meets the speedydelete criteria, doesn't meant that it has to be deleted. I just check out the group pages and weigh up how much effort went into creating the page, how long they were running, how they interacted with other groups, how many other pages link to them, and if I think there's a chance they're still running around Malton somewhere, or if I just think that the wiki is more interesting with them on it, I vote keep. Historical group status only goes to groups that affect the whole community, there's still a lot of local history out there that doesn't need to be trashed. Of course, then there's plenty more groups (like the others you put up that I didn't give a keep vote for) that don't add anything much to the wiki, they need to go. That's just my idea on it anyway, if you still think these ones I put keep on should go, you can take them to M/D for a vote on the issue... they'll probably go I guess, I just feel it would be a pity -- boxy T L ZS Nuts2U DA 21:58, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

If this is covered by british law as you insist you should remember that unlike many americans we do not sue as a hobby and our legal system frowns heavily upon "frivilous" cases. --Honestmistake 23:55, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

I have no doubt that there have been, will be and probably currently are some genuinely objectionable copyright rip-offs posted but the fact of the matter is that until someone/anyone who is doing it maliciously is brought forwards you just make yourself look like some sort of fascist who wants to dictate others behaviour. I am pretty sure you are not trying to give that impression but just take a step back and you might not like what you see. Really just leave this crusade alone until someone from the outside actually does take the use of 'borrowed' images seriously. As to those 'guilty of using them... please just cite a link to where you got it and put a note at the bottom of the page saying that you will remove it if the copyright holder asks, and lets face it given the type of material in most of these i think most would be more than happy to get the free advertisement!--Honestmistake 01:05, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

- Doesn't matter at all. The physical servers reside in the UK, which means it follows those laws. Let's look at the parody, shall we? Whoops! "The Supreme Court of the United States stated that parody "is the use of some elements of a prior author's composition to create a new one that, at least in part, comments on that author's works." That commentary function provides some justification for use of the older work." The Channel 4 News Team doesn't do that, especially when it uses still frames from the movie. On a side note, aren't you the Desensitized moderator who was really into furry artwork? - Funny, I don't recall the part of the movie where they fought zombies in an engilsh city, I'd say that's a fairly large change. On a side note, resorting to personal attacks is the first sign of a lost argument. And everyone knows it. --Stroth MotA 02:41, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- No, it doesn't. It's your group, which details your exploits in Malton, which is clearly not in the movie. All of the images do not have the required citations, nor does it actually comment on the movie in an informative way. In effect, you have basically stolen the images, names, and likenesses for your personal use on a commercial website. Clearly not parody. And Stroth, which part of there is no parody law in the UK do you fail to grasp? The part with words? Oh, I also note that you didn't deny it. ;D --Dr. Frank Sloth Akule News - All The News That's Fit To Print. 02:47, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- Which part of It's International law that applies, not UK do you fail to grasp? --Stroth MotA 02:49, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, the part where Kevan said he follows is UK copyright law. Also, it's nicely against the UD wiki rules. Then, the physical servers exist in the UK, which means they fall under UK copyright law. Still failing to grasp this simple concept? --User:Akule Akule News. 02:51, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- I take the characters and events of the movie and place them in an alternate, fictional world. If you don't find this commenting informative or creative, it's not a proof of any lack of information or creativity on my part. That's arguing for a vacuum. The images are obviously from the movie- you don't cite Newton's writing when you talk about gravity, do you? --Ron Burgundy 03:05, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Funny, I've always wondered this about you akule: if your actually a lawyer, shouldn't you be, oh, I don't know, doing useful things in regard to the law? - Hey! I did get some Pumpkin Ale of the Anheuser-Busch variety. Jack's, I think. Oh, can I say Anheuser-Busch here? Maybe A-B used a script close to this on a can in the early 1900's. I'd hate to break copyright laws! --Zod Rhombus 02:44, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

- How is this a problem unless the owner of the copyright files a greivance against using these images, etc.? Without the rightful owner bringing forth an issue, I don't see how this affects anything, least of all gameplay or the wiki. This is the internet, there are millions of unlicensed images floating out there. --Zod Rhombus 03:33, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

- keep because AKULE doesn't like them is reason enough! Oh and while i am at it 'parody' is not protected in british law because as far as i know no one has ever been found guilty of it. almost all of our best loved/watched TV comedies are parodies, our biggest radio show contains numerours parodies... For fucksakes we even had an award winning parody of child abuse (which did get into trouble... but not much!) Why isn't it enshrined in LAW, because we have a sense of humour! Christ even our money isn't actually sanctioned by law just tradition and its the most valued currency in the world...--Honestmistake 10:43, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
