Basic Info:

  • A monument is a city block containing a statue or similar piece of public art, without a building in it. It is functionally equivalent to a street, except that players with the Tagging skill can gain 2 XP for writing graffiti on a monument.
  • This is, game-play wise, an empty block, and cannot be barricaded.
  • After the July 3, 2009 update, some monuments became tall and can be seen from a distance with binoculars

Description

Humans and zombies alike will see the following (permanent) description when standing in front of the monument:

"You are at the Lynch Monument, a gold statue of a woman at the top of a low flight of steps."

Interesting design of The Lynch Monument

A monument is a city block containing a statue or similar piece of public art, without a building in it. It is functionally equivalent to a street. It cannot be barricaded, and is not included in the Greentown barricade policy. --Alice Cuinn 07:51, 4 June 2007 (BST)

History

This monument was to a great Second World War colonial, Col. Lynch. His monument was egged by local youth during the Vietnam War protests in the city, but it was promptly cleaned. Older Greentown citizens respect the colonial, as he is almost a legend in some quarters. His monument is however rather small. Many cake stalls and markets have been held to generate more money for the monument, to no avail.
