=WHAT IS HAPPENING?=

The city of Malton is destroying itself. The news is alarming and the reports of looting and violence seem to be everywhere. To be near your family and to make them secure is the last defense of the human mind. The family is beginning to try and salvage whatever they can find and survive together until the end comes. The animal part of the brain (called the Thalmus), that we have kept down inside of us is starting to open it's existence again.
The war is in the streets and there is no time to make a plan. Horrible acts that are only accidents are starting to occur everywhere. When the tension in the city mounts to a boiling point the question of survival is no longer an inquisitive request it is,...becoming the Mob. The ugly riot that the world first began in and will be consumed by.

==WHERE IS EVERYONE?==

When the crimes started, the people were reacting to the news that they heard. The Civil broadcasts were able to alert the public to a new problem in the city. Unfortunately, they couldn't stay on the air long enough to do more than confuse the people about what was happening. The storm of attacks and the lack of understanding about what was going on helped to create a sense of confusion that was the biggest contributor to the inevitable breakdown of the Civil Authority.
The people were cut-off and surrounded with no place to go. Some were able to take a few moments to make contact with each other and to begin to struggle to force a federation of survivors by staying inside the same buildings. This was a critical moment in the outcome of so many lives. The worst was about to happen. The human survivors were being boxed in by forces that they didn't understand and the explosion was near to happening. The riots begin on small scales in different areas of the city and built up to overwhelming numbers. The final elements of the last stage began with the building of the barricades all around the city while the struggle for survival was still being fought.

===HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?===

Elements of the U.S. Army 101st Airborne were training at a nearby miltary base and responded to the newscasts from within the city immediatley. The murders that were occurring were broadcast and able to be viewed on the local news before the news team was killed. The Senior Commander of the base (name needed) reacted the way that all of the country hoped a leader in his position would deal with the confusing information that was coming in every minute. He contacted their primary base and the Divisional Headquarters to alert them to what was known about the murders in the city. He set up a quarantine plan to detain and process any person found trying to enter or leave the city. He used the elements of his base to build and maintain the first sentry and security checkpoints that would be used as way stations for the program. He sent the units into the city at (time ref needed) to begin to stabilize and report back to the checkpoints set-up outside the borders. None of the first three teams to enter the city were seen again.

3 days of unending violence after the quarantine and the barricades went up. 3 days of fires with buildings being fought over. All services that were taken for granted by the citizens stopped working. No food, water, communication or transportation was working. Used my time to work through a few editing suggestions about the uses of html vs xhtml and the formatting examples above. I'll clean up the text typed at the top of the page and move the items don here for ease of reading. In the long run I hope to be able to generate at first a neat and clean outline of the character background and be able to jot down some notes about in=game ideas that I may be able to suggest to the Wiki community at large.

Cool, I finally created a link to a User page for my Character that I can move around and save without affecting my UD Character page.Charles Degaulle 18:12, 8 August 2008 (BST)

Notes for 08-09-08 1. I want to eventually move or copy and paste the discussion from MichaelRead to this page

2. Move or copy and paste the "Hey" topic here

3. Move or copy and paste the "I'm new ... "

4. Move or copy and paste the "Hey Charles..."

Notes for 08-16-08 Haven't got any more news about the editing tasks I already listed above.

I worked on an idea for my character development that suggested a University for education that would be useful as a Firefighter/Engineer.

Then I queried the Wiki for College/University locations and I found a series of suggestions by a player Mr. Auschvitz and a player Funt about December 2006 (source needed) who formally made a suggestion for the creation of. The Wiki board vote suggested that the idea was interesting but under developed and would need more documentation. (Funt provided some maps and the neighborhood chosen) Voters on the subject indicated that the problem would be more likely to explain the sudden appearance of , but not any denial of the need for. (hmmm, I think that I can make a few suggestions about this but I don't think that the idea can be broached realistically without earning a DUPE rating.

Wow so close...of course a University would require a Board Admin, A neighborhood for location, City construction plans/contractors development., A School board authorization and of course several players to populate the schools teaching roles. If a character says "I went to college at Malton...", the next question would be Who, what , where, when and why.

In gameplay this would be for background as the structure would be shutdown, barricaded, fought in and overrun.

Besides the direct activity mentioned above I asked some of the DEM admin players by PM a few questions about my character development and the University angle. I hope that I might get some good pointers or some advice/criticism concerning a past history of any attempts to pursue this background. Charles Degaulle 15:55, 16 August 2008 (BST)

Idea for thread dealing with resources management and Water source investigation. Post to ---> The Firehouse 8:16 PM 8/16/2008

Charles is sitting on a chair in front of a workbench putting together a plumbing fixture. His back is to the door and except for the Torch propped up on the workbench there isn't any other weapon in sight. He fixes the tube Cutter around the end of the steel Gas line and cuts off the tip. He drops the cut tip onto the bench top and then measures off another 6" length of tube, fixing the Tube Cutter around the Steel line and repeating the action until he gathers 8 separate Steel Tubes from the roll of Steel line. Rewinding the Steel Tubing he replaces it on the Workbench and gathers the new cut Tubes for transporting to the Alumni Lounge for threading with a Pipe Thread Die that will seal up the Gas Line by a NPT thread design for a positive NO-leak seal.

A noise comes from outside and he pauses listening attentively for a few moments and getting up and looking around the workshop, checking the entry and the windows for any signs of movement. He returns to the workbench picking up the 8 tubes to be threaded and puts them in a Plastic bag which he then puts in a small lunchbox tote. He picks up the Cut-off Tip and stores it inside one of the plastic drawers in the Hardware Organizer box. Turning finally to the Butane torch he picks it up and places it on the workbench near the Hardware Org. Box. ....Turns toward the door and picks up the lunchbox tote and his Fireaxe.

EDIT8:46 PM 8/21/2008 Scratch the Above Charles needs a City water Plan usage for the N Suburbs to decide if the Firehouse' Water bolier is going to make it.

(Same location)...Charles is studying a DEM Water Usage chart for Malton and using a calculator to check the net usage amounts given per block shown on the map. He pauses after doing some calculations and writes some notes in a pocket notebook. He replaces the notebook in his pocket and rolls the Chart back up, taking it with him back to the Bar area in the front of the Firehouse bldg. Entering the Bar area he places the Chart down on a table and says to the figures in the Bar "We may have a problem with the Water Supply in the City. I found out that the water service for this area is only working about half the time. That's bad for us. I need to ask some of the City's Engineers if we can count on getting fresh water at all or do we need to take other steps to secure our water supply." He unrolls the chart and points at a few notes written in the DEM Chart Legend. "This says that per block in this area the amount of water being used is equal to every citizen in the City before the quarantine went into effect." He pauses and looks at the figures in the room to wait for the question. Hearing nothing yet he continues. "The City's Water only works half the time and the amount being used is more than we can realistically believe in." He waits again for questions. He continues..." I don't know where it's going or what that might mean but, if the service is only partially running then we can't count on using the water, or even trust the quality for drinking or bathing in." He steps away from the Table and let's everyone read the notes written therein;

Sent request to the Wiki User Page contact email address for the User:38th Civil Engineering Squadron. email address Col Maddox at airforcebombsquad@yahoo.com The 38th CES is based out of Charleston AFB, South Carolina (USA.) It falls under the command of the 437th Mission Support Group, 437th Airlift Wing. It is currently in detachment status and assigned to USAFE. As follows:

Greetings; Col Maddox, I write you to ask if a civillian member of the Malton Fire Department (my firefighter character Charles Degaulle - http://www.urbandead.com/profile.cgi?id=1306866) may request information concerning the water supply and usage levels for the Calender year July. 2007 - July 2008 for the City of Malton. I have never written to a US government official previous to this letter so please indulge my lack of protocol in asking for your kind attention. I became concerned about the City's water usage when I was assigned to my Academy for training and I visited the Malton fire Department Recreational facility in a secured location. I conducted a security check of the premises and I discovered a few anomalies that concern the City's water supplies and their purity. Tests for the waters analysis have been scheduled and I am awaiting results. I wanted to gather some more information as to the possible sources and the delivery systems for the City of Malton. Presently I am expecting no surprises concerning the quality but I do have some concerns about the amount and the availability of the supply. I need to know if the buildings water Boiler and Kitchen preparation areas need supplemental supplies or do we need to address the shortages and continue to cutback on the usage. Sincerely, Charles Degaulle
