But just before the man passed into that good night, a miracle occurred. A Great Design manifested before him and its unfathomable Greatness forced him out of consciousness.
Before he could be killed, however, a miracle occurred [according to the man]. A ''Great Design'' manifested before him and its unfathomable Greatness forced him out of consciousness.

Upon awakening, the man discovered the remnants of a fiery catastrophe that must have consumed the zombie, leaving nothing but the soles of feet and some foul, oily ash. Nothing the man could imagine could account for this miracle. As he struggled against the absurdity and improbability (and gasoline vapors) of his survival, he heard a voice. He heard THE VOICE.

He would describe it as strong, imposing, commanding, and captivating. THE VOICE explained to him that it was none other than Phlogistera, Fire Goddess. She explained to him that witnessing the Great Design had opened his mind to the mysteries of the Cleansing Flame. It was his life's destiny to be the first of her sacred Fryers who are the mortal beings charged with exploring, promoting, and living an existence of Enlightenment and pursuing The Path of Burnination.

''Sacred Fryers''

There is no formal structure to Phlogistera's Fire Cult; there is no structured priesthood that acts as intercessor or determines who has been selected to be a Sacred Fryer. Phlogistera may come to Fryers in their dreams, through their campfires, or sporadic radio static. No one can say whether another person has received a message directly from Phlogistera except themselves--and it is their choice whether or not to pursue The Embrace of the Cleansing Flame. Only ''YOU'' can walk The Path of Burnination.

PyroSadist

In the deserted suburb of Dunell Hills, a man sat in a contemplative, solitudinous mood.

His meditated in the crushing exhaustion of the never-zombified and inexperienced. Before too long, a zombie shuffled into the room. With what little fear he could muster, he twitched out a futile resistance and awaited oblivion.

Before he could be killed, however, a miracle occurred [according to the man]. A Great Design manifested before him and its unfathomable Greatness forced him out of consciousness.

Upon awakening, the man discovered the remnants of a fiery catastrophe. The zombie was gone and nothing he could imagine could account for its disappearance and his survival. As he struggled to comprehend what had transpired (and withstand the gasoline vapors), he [claims he] heard a voice--THE VOICE [he would later state].

THE VOICE explained to him that it was none other than Phlogistera, Fire Goddess. She explained that the Great Design had opened his mind to the mysteries of The Cleansing Flame. It was now his choice to continue his pathetic life or be the first of her sacred Fryers, who were Her chosen to explore, promote, and pursue Enlightenment and The Path of Burnination.

Never able to recall his life before that day, PyroSadist was born.

He walks Malton, spreading Phlogistera's Word. He seeks the other Fryers to better walk The Path of Burnination so that he might embrace The Cleansing Flame.

Timeline

May 2014

 • A Vision - while gathering kindling for a fire, he pulled an old map of Malton off a wall. He noted how previous inhabitants had scribbled notations about which buildings were safe and was covered with sticky notes detailing the movements of the Hordes. Just as he was about to ball it up and throw it in an improvised burn barrel, Phlogistera whispered to him. The map spontaneously combusted in his hands and he knew that She was telling him it was time to Enlighten Malton regarding the status of its buildings. Perhaps, they'd finally be able to choose which path to walk.
 • Feeling the Yetis were pitted in a losing battle, he took to the road.
 • One the way to Fryerbank, he decided to help the Yetis in their mission to reclaim/rebuild Whittenside.
 • Began making his way to Fryerbank after deciding its name was a guidepost to locate other sacred Fryers.
