The Standing

Ever since the outbreak of the undead, chaos rather than rational thought has ruled Malton. Hundreds of the cursed undead wander the streets. Ragged groups of survivors defend hastily barricaded safehouses and struggle for their lives. In these darkest of days, humanity itself has become very much like the monsters it struggles against. Man has become so concerned with the individual that the whole is forgotten. Peole abandon each other to attacking zombies, ignore the critical situations of others, and even resort to murdering their fellow man in cold blood.

It seems that these difficult days have brought out the worst evil that humanity has to offer; now is the time to combat this evil with unwavering good and right. This is the charge and duty of all survivors in Malton and is the foremost goal of the Word of the Standing. It is this purity from the Standing survivors that will bring about victory against humanity’s greatest threat.

Mortem ad mortuis.

Origins

The Word of the Standing was originally formed after the zombie outbreak in Malton. The idea for the group was conceived by Dr. Kyle Greene, a doctor employed at Catherine General Hospital in Stanbury Village before the outbreak. A strong humanitarian, Dr. Greene advocated a selfless approach to life after the outbreak. He traveled all over Stanbury Village, helping and caring for those in need. However, as bodies piled in the streets and more and more zombies swarmed the city, he realized that he could do nothing to staunch the flow of the undead. Nothing alone, at least. In an act of desperation, he began to seek out other survivors to convince to help him. An organized group would have much higher chances of helping the living and destorying the dead. Thus, The Word of the Standing began its life in Malton, dedicated to uprooting the undead terror.
