"You are at the Hocking Monument, a marble pyramid on top of a tall pillar."
The Hocking Monument is located in the central part of East Boundwood.
The Hocking Monument is a monument dedicated to physicist Stevun Hocking, a wheelchair bound genius who spent much of his childhood in East Boundwood reading and theorising about... well... theoretical physics.
The Monument was put in place in 2002 to mark Hocking's 60th Birthday. Unfortunately, he was not able to attend. However, many neighbours of the monument attended to celebrate the birthday of the well-known physicist.
Prior to the the monument being built, the area was an extension of Baynton Park, which was built by John G Wellington, founder of many of East Boundwood's buildings and ammenities. The area had become slummy over the period of a decade, so the council demolished part of the park and added the monument instead.
