The "Malton Incident" refers to the disaster that befell the city of Malton on July 3rd, 2005. On that day, the residents of Malton woke to find their fair city overrun by hordes of the shambling dead.
The cause of this disaster has never been officially determined, but most residents believe that it had something to do with the NecroTech Corporation, which had several offices and facilities in the city. Other theories include disease, cemetery overcrowding, Hell overcrowding, the practice of occult rites by the rich and famous of Malton, and a recent meteor shower.
Though reluctant at first to use "the zed word," most Maltonians have now accepted the fact that they are, in fact, living in a city of zombies.
