I think I'm going to be mostly inactive henceforth. After playing this game daily for years I've found myself going several days at a time without even thinking about it. Basically, my time spent with this game isn't rewarding anymore: there are too many douchebags, too many zombies who don't know they're zombies, and no sign of any ongoing game development. Most frustrating of all is the broken-ass random number generator. If Kevan would submit the thing for public review and answer some questions about its use, then it could be proven valid or fixed if it were invalid, but until he does I have no reason to believe that it's fair (and plenty of personal experience which I interpret to mean that it is not).

In short, I believe the game is broken and too many of its players are idiots, and I just can't be bothered anymore.

My policy when playing Urban Dead has always been to act like a zombie when I'm a zombie, and like a survivor when I'm a survivor. This means that if I'm a zombie, I don't attack other zombies unless attacked first, and as a survivor I never attack other survivors.

I'm a member of The Ridleybank Resistance Front, but since the RRF is a zombie horde, that has nothing to do with me when I'm not a zombie. When I'm a survivor, I don't spy and I don't kill other survivors. Period.

So it's simultaneously irritating and amusing when people get all butt-hurt over me being a zombie in a zombie game. A while back, while a zombie, I smashed a generator -- just one of countless generators I've smashed while a zombie -- and a few days later after being revived I got PK'd by a douchebag who accused me of "griefing". Today, again while revived, after having spent a few days hunting zombies, I got PK'd by another douchebag who apparently took exception to the RRF being my Group. Then, while searching for myself on this wiki a few minutes ago, I discovered that I was on a list of players who are "so anti-survivor, that to revive them would be, at the least, criminally negligent".

I really don't know how to make sense of this. It's a zombie game, people. Zombies smash generators. Zombies attack survivors. What do you expect? Why do you think my behavior as a zombie has anything to do with my behavior as a survivor? Is it because you yourselves don't grasp the concept of the game? I know who you are; you're the ones who can't contemplate, even for a minute, acting like a zombie when you're a zombie, so you just stand there attacking other zombies until you get revived. It never occurred to you to role-play in a role-playing game.

I just noticed that the Hei-bei Heroes, mentioned above with regard to their ridiculous "anti-survivor" list, "are a group set up under the vision that being Undead DOES NOT mean you stop fighting for your neighborhood" and have the following as their recruitment policy: "All players wishing to fight zombies, whether human/zombie in form."

So my last paragraph above was right. Somehow, according to them, zombies are zombies when they're survivors, survivors are survivors when they're zombies, and to hell with anyone who tries to actually play the game -- survivors should attack zombies, zombies should attack zombies, and nobody should attack survivors. Idiots.
