Introduction

The Black Knights are an organization which exists for the purpose of creating and maintaining neutral areas where zombies and survivors can coexist together. To this end we endeavor to:

  1. Create Specially Administrated Zones where we can, limiting our activities to one special zone per suburb.
  2. Maintain the condition and neutrality of these buildings.
  3. Spread awareness of these Specially Administrated Zones and gain support from all factions.

Specially Administrated Zones

Also known as Special Zones, Neutral Zones, and Special Demilitarized Zones, these are buildings in which revival and combat in any forms are forbidden; their purpose is to create an area where people from all factions on both sides can get together and enjoy Urban Dead in alternative ways such as drinking, newspaper-whacking, and the occasional song. Within a Specially Administrated Zone, Elevens will be allowed to call themselves Japanese, and all players will be able to abstain from the pervasive struggle for control of Malton. Special Zones are created to be neutral locations that do not favor one side or another, and as such the following activities are forbidden:

  1. The revival of any occupant, willing or otherwise.
  2. The murder or slaying of any occupant, be it for survivor-zombie reasons, player or zombie killing reasons, or bounty collection reasons.
  3. Hostile action against the Specially Administrated Zone itself, including generator destruction, radio sabotage, groaning to attract ferals, the erection of barricades or dispensers, and using sprays which violate local policies.
  4. The use of a Specially Administrated Zone as a safe house to allow the continual unpunished perpetration of "crimes", no matter who might consider them as such.
  5. Zombies: The non-consensual attacking of any occupant (check their profile description for consent)
  6. Survivors: The non-consensual attacking of any occupant without administering equal or greater healing within a five minute grace period (check their profile description for consent)
  7. The infection of any occupant.
  8. Outrageously over-the-top obscenity or hostility with obvious ill-intent.

Players who are unconcerned about receiving non-lethal levels of character damage should feel free to indicate in their profile description in whatever form they please, players strapped for space may wish to put SAZ-C in their profile, and users especially low on space may want to replace the first or last letter of their profile description with a 0. It is not recommended you attack someone without knowing their health or if it is 10 or lower, regardless of consent; any deaths resulting from simultaneous attacks, bad information, accidents, freak game bugs, or divine intervention will be treated as murder unless the victim claims otherwise.

What a Specially Administrated Zone is not

A Specially Administrated Zone is not a farm

Special Zones are not created with the intent of allowing large quantities of exp-gain; our guidelines attempt to limit this as much as possible, with the exception of whack-and-FAK practices. Because people can whack-and-FAK anywhere, even on zombies, we believe we are not providing any particular opportunity for exp-farming, and continue to support zambah hagz and survivors' rights to run around smacking people with cricket bats.

A Specially Administrated Zone is not a slaughterhouse

Special Zones are created as neutral areas for different kinds of fun to be had by all players, and for the promotion of cross-faction and state interaction. It is not a zombie or survivor farm, and killing within a zone for whatever reason will not be tolerated.

A Specially Administrated Zone is not a revive point

Special Zones avoid tactical resource points on purpose in order to avoid involvement in the larger struggle for control over Malton; as such, the practice shifting a player from one side to another, regardless of consent, will not be tolerated.

A Specially Administrated Zone is not a secret clubhouse

As is mentioned above, Special Zones make every attempt to abstain from the struggle for Malton; using a Specially Administrated Zone as a parachuting base, revival factory, or other control point is strictly forbidden. Members of all factions and sides are welcome to take refuge here, but continual and prolonged combination of attack-and-retreat or use of a Special Zone as a beachhead will be grounds for diplomatic renegotiation and possible eventual dismissal (see A Specially Administrated Zone is not a safe house).

A Specially Administrated Zone is not a safe house

Although people from all factions and states, including PKers, GKers, ZKers, death cultists, life cultists, bounty hunters, and others, are welcome in Special Zones, they are not designed to allow these players to leave, offend others, and quickly retreat into diplomatic immunity. The continued perpetration of "crimes" by an individual who resides in a Special Zone may lead to their immunity being revoked after diplomatic negotiations, possibly permanently. The definition of a crime will be decided on a case-by-case basis, with all but the most extreme definitions usually being accepted. This stigma is in place only for the action of entering a zone, leaving to commit a crime, and returning for protection, often repeatedly; all newcomers to a Special Zone are accepted regardless of prior record.

Hunting down other players may be fun, but so is trying new things; plus, what's the use of being a slaughterer of men if you have to run and hide behind others after every kill?

A Specially Administrated Zone is not a shitstorm

While Special Zones are created so that players can try new and often bizarre ways to play Urban Dead, they do loosely follow in the general direction of civilized behavior; no one expects everyone to get along with everyone, but occupants are at least expected to make an attempt at civility. Repeated harassment of single individuals without provocation, outrageously excessive obscenity, and other acts of the like can be grounds for warning, temporary revocation of visa, and in extreme cases permanent removal of diplomatic status, as well as possible additional penalties from the allies of the Specially Administrated Zones. Remember, no one is forcing you to talk to someone you disagree with, and if you're being provoked without cause, feel free to contact the Black Knights.

Residency

There are three levels of residency within a Specially Administrated Zone, each conferring more trust and respect upon the individual. They are as follows:

Visitors

All players are welcome to visit and participate in the Specially Administrated Zone whenever they like, provided they do not use the Special Zone as a safe house or beachhead. However, due to the anonymous and transitory nature of these guests, access to the Special Zone for non-residents is considered complimentary and may be revoked if infraction is suspected due to the difficult nature of contacting such individuals. In all but the most extreme cases, any visitors who have had their access revoked are still eligible to apply for full citizenship.

Registered Citizens

In order to become a registered citizen, you simply need to give a link to your character profile along with some way of contacting you, be it a wiki page or forum you check, email, or even just an Urban Dead character with a cell phone, here. In addition, you may feel like telling us your preferred state, faction, and disposition towards non-lethal injuries. Registering allows us to contact you about any complaints or claims of unjust actions that may arise, and lets us hear both sides of any disputes or infractions. Registered Citizens receive more leniency than visitors, and have many opportunities for trial and repeated error before their citizenship is revoked.

The Black Knights

The highest order of citizenship there is, the Black Knights are responsible for the infrastructure, lawfulness, and general well-being of the Specially Administrated Zones. Joining the Black Knights can be done in a part-time or full capacity, depending upon the wishes of the applicant. Part-time members are assigned general tasks or areas, leaving them freedom to enjoy the Specially Administrated Zone as they wish; full-time members are completely committed to the maintenance of the Special Zones, and as such may not have much leftover AP, especially during times of crisis. To join, contact us on our IRC or Forums.
