I noticed that it is very hard to attack things as a beginner. It is extremely annoying how much harder it is to level up at the beginning of the game than later on because of this.
I am suggesting that we add a small percentage (say, 3-5%) bonus on hit chance to all players who have not yet acquired another skill. This would only change the CHANCE of hitting, not the damage.
The player would lose this after gaining their first skill. It could also be done with a time limit, or even a turn limit (or a combination: for example, the player would lose this after either one month OR when they finally got their first skill). It is possible that this could last until a player gets a weapon skill (in other words, if they get a different type of skill first, they wouldn't lose the bonus) but I think it would work better if it went away after getting any skill.
The bonus might have to not count for fireman's axes (or a police officer's or private's gun), but it should still count for firemen using other weapons (or it could just also count for firemen, police, and privates - even their axes and pistols). It would count for zombie attacks as well. I think that this would help newbie characters to level up but at the same time wouldn't be enough of a boost to keep people from leveling up, because the benefits of a new skill would be greater than the benefits of the bonus. |
