Background:
Eldridge was one of those people who really never felt he belonged. He had friends and loved ones, but was always the one at the party who felt like doing anything else. While volunteering at his local animal shelter, he saw a BBC report on strange occurences within Malton. The police were in shambles, the TV said. Then Eldridge knew what he had to do. Packed his bags and joined a Marine division entering Malton. With limited skills outside of construction, marathon running, and his expeirence as a volunteer fire fighter, he entered the city, totally unprepared for what he found.

On Eldridges second night in Malton, his unit took cover in an abandoned warehouse. Unfortunately, they were ambushed by a group of insane cultists. Eldridge returned fire, watching in horror as his comrades were shot or stabbed. What remained of his unit, he didnt know, but Eldridge escaped with a gunshot wound to the left shoulder.
Zombification: ' On his twelth night in Malton, Eldridge heard a scream in the night. Not odd, by any means in Malton, but it was nearby. Loading last clip of ammo into his service revolver, he ran to the scream. What he found was terrible. A woman with a knife struggling against a large, decaying zombie. A fresh corpse lay beside the struggle, clearly the zombies first victim of the evening. Eldridge quickly rushed to the womans aid, firing at the zombie with poor aim. Using the only other weapon he had, he swung an axe into the creatures head. Exhausted, he sat down to see if the girl was alright. A major mistake, as he turned his back on the first corpse which had reanimated and dragged itself close enough to sink its jaws into Eldridge right hand. Injured, tired, and now infected, he pulled the woman to his safehouses, jamming the door from the outside before running to the the street to die.
Shades of Malton: He awoke in a cemetary with two heavily armed soldiers above him, claiming to be 'Shades of Malton'. A group dedicated to ridding Malton of zombie scum, these soldiers were friendly and kind as well as dangerous. The blue helmeted soldier offered him a hand up. From then on, Eldridge considered himself one of them.
Safety...?:
Finding refuge in the Bagehot Way Police Department, Eldridge began to help survivors find safehouses, equiptment, medical attention, and mental comfort to the best of his ability. As the Department was empty, he tok on leadership of the building and claimed Pashenton under his protection. Unfortunately, his attempts to protect the innocent were frequently hindered. During the night, some of the survivors he had let enter during the day would randomly kill sleeping survivors. When Eldridge awoke the next morning, he coud do little else but mournfully dump the body into the street. Until the fateful day that he became one of those poor victems. Roaming for days as a zombie, he was revived again by a local police officer. Eldridge abandoned the Bagshot Department in the hopes of helping establish a safer warehouse for the Shades
