Eldridge served as a Corporal in the US Marines. His unit was being shipped over to the middle east to continue in the conflict and had stopped in England to refuel. Taking advantage of a few days of R&R, Eldridge traveled to Malton. Not long after the outbreak began. Unarmed and unsuspecting, Eldridge had no weapon and only his training to help him survive the early days of the outbreak.

Eldridge found a group of survivors made up of experts from all fields (SWAT teams, Doctors, Royal Marines, Scientists, etc) that formed the Shades of malton. Seeing this as the best organized group he had yet encountered, he took an axe and began his career in Shades, working up to Administraor and Captain of the Home Defense Unit. Security being a priority, he spends his days working Security for the Shades HQ.
